These remind me of the cookies that come on the blue tin around Christmas time. I could literally eat a whole tin in a sitting. This is going to be one of those dangerous recipes where I end up making it more than once a week. As if the quarantine weight I put on wasn’t enough.
@@norayasmine9980 HAHAHAHA! I always get fooled when my mom would take the tin of sewing stuff from the basement to hem something and I’d open them and think they were cookies and nope..
This looks amazing! In Denmark they’re a traditional Christmas cookie and they’re called “Vanilla Wreaths” cause that’s what they’re supposed to resemble hahaha! The only difference is we don’t traditionally use condensed milk or powdered sugar to make them, only regular sugar
In Spain we call them "Danish cookies" and are a super tasty treat all year long! They come in a metal round box and every house uses it after eating the cookies to store sewing supplies 😂
@@EfeFlet @Olympia that’s interesting! I don’t see the cookie tins that often in Denmark either but not a single dane wouldn’t recognize the round, dark blue shape and color of them hahah Since the recipe only needs 6 ingredients we usually just bake them ourselves when December rolls around. It’s funny we’ve collectively started using them for sewing supplies throughout the world though, but I’m all for recycling things!
@@eunji_teahouse4891 if it's okay with you, could you tell me your recipe? I'd like to compare it with the one from the video, I've made several of her recipes and all of them were great so I'm curious about the authenticity hahaha. I think everyone uses them for sewing supplies because they're cute, compact and the tin can hold pins and needles better than a bag, for example. They're very useful!!
@@EfeFlet Of course, I'm always happy to share! Please note that I've just roughly translated this from danish to english so there's going to be some mistakes unfortunately! Here's the recipe: This makes around 80 cookies *Ingredients:* 1/2 vanilla pod 200 g salted butter (room temperature) 180 g sugar 1 egg 250 g wheat flour 75 g almonds *Instructions: * 1. Split the vanilla pod on the long joint and scrape out the seeds/grains with a small knife. Mash the vanilla grains with a bit of the sugar so that the grains separate. Blend the almonds in a food processor until it has the texture of “flour” 2. Put vanilla, sugar and butter together into a bowl and stir. Stir the egg in, and finally add the almond flour and wheat flour. 3. Pour the dough into a piping bag with a star nozzle, and immediately squeeze them out onto a baking sheet, in the form of a “wreath” with approx. 5 cm in diameter. 4. Bake the cookies at 200 Celsius degrees until they’re lightly golden (this will take approx. 10-14 minutes) Cool the cookies on a baking sheet and store them in a tightly closed can (they can last for 2 weeks like that) *Notes:* It’s tradition to use the actual vanilla pods in these cookies, but if it’s not available for you, it’s also fine to use the vanilla sugar you can buy in stores. My best guess is to use around 1-1½ teaspoon. It’s important the butter is soft (room temperature, you could even take it out of the fridge the night before), otherwise it will be very tough to squeeze the dough out of the bag. After you’ve piped them out onto the baking sheet you can put them in the fridge for approx. 15 minutes, but it’s not absolutely necessary (sometimes the butter can be too soft, almost liquid-y which can result in flat cookies) Dont stir the batter too much, that can also result in the cookies flattening out in the oven
I just made these cookies today. As an advice, I recommend you add more butter than it says so that way the cookies will be softer! But in my opinion it’s a delicious recipe
@@ok2298 same! I'm guessing maybe you need to add more flour? I'll try that and tell you if it works. Maybe it also has to do with how much butter there is? I had pools of melted butter separate from the dough while it was baking but i noticed early on so thankfully i didn't have to clean a bunch of melted butter haha. Id like some tips though!
If the butter melts it means that you likely havent creamed the butter and sugar together well enough. Try to cream it for longer using the whisk until it turns from the yellow of the butter to a really pale yellow and you no longer feel grainy bits of sugar when you're stirring. Hope this helps!

What if, instead of more butter I put more condensed milk? Would it be too sweet?
@@rndate Not at all. But if your purpose is to make them softer, use extra extra butter. The condensed milk will just add it some extra flavor.
