Its about what I expected. Heavier awd car verus a sub 3000 pound fwd car. Never been impressed with the wrx's out the box. A good running fwd 2.0 EcoBoost fusion inches away from them without much problem from a roll.
Wrx’s are heavy and only good on a dig. Kind of annoying because my Buddy thinks he’s fast from a start but doing rolls he loses every time.

at least the rsx is light… i just bought a 2007 acura tsx with a cold air intake and magnaflow exhaust making 240hp to the wheel but the cars heavy asf so it’s still slow

is it an okay daily driver? is 400 too much? i never driven a 400hp car i see a bunch of youtube videos of people not shifting in time and blowing the trans. i have a cbr 600 so I'm okay with speed, but i feel cars need to taken better care of

I was very surprised how well my car stacked up against this subaru as well, although I still took the L
I have an 05 STi with the stock center console turbo gauge. Bought it since new fall of 2005, with 134k miles on it right now. Been through 3 timing belt changes, valve adjustment and etc. Still runs like it was brand new. Wheel bearings still original from 2005. Only mods I did throughout the 16 years, hks titanium exhaust, k&n typhoon intake, and hks ssq bov. Engine is still stock, and oil changed every 3000-3500 miles. Still running strong. People complaining about reliability. Always buy new, don't buy used because you'll never know what the previous owner did. They probably put a shit ton of aftermarket stuff in and before selling, they probably put the original parts back in.

My two most favorite car brands ever.I never underestimate a Honda at all.I was riding with my friend in his 2019 corvette super charged,we got smoked by a 94 Honda Civic hatch back.to this day I make fun of him.obviously the civic was like fully built but still when you see a small civic just leaving you behind and the corvette is going full throttle there is a certain feeling it gives you I can only imagine the feeling of that civic owner lol one of the best races I’ve ever experienced.I own a Subaru and an Acura TL I love my subie but something about the tl that is just cool to me.

sti is heavier and had passenger, the 6 speed in the sti trans is tricky too super short gears

@big body its tubro lag bro its why his si pulls at the begining. Once that turbo car gets going the boost makes up for it as its rolling thats why it pulls away from the si. But hands for sure if this honda got a turbo upgrade the vtec and boost is going to make it hard to beat on the road.

Man I just wrecked my FG2 right before Christmas this last Dec. Miss that scream of the 8th gen. Just got a 2015 Si sedan and the Vtec just doesn’t compare lol

@@benjimoua3245 depends very much on the track and the tires the civic is running, theres a good reason you see alot of these civics in time attack plus the 8th gen has a lsd and a 8k redline which with a tune to curve out the low and high VTEC for cornering I could vary will see the civic wining

My 04 sti built Outfront closed deck motor, 1/2” head studs, AEM series 2, Borg Warner 8374 EFR twinscroll, 597 hp 600 ft lbs beat GTRs, Corvettes. It was at 400 hp with a jdm VF36 titanium turbine wheel twinscroll, insta spool, so much fun with that setup. I now have a 2018 Type R built motor, still piecing the fuel system, projected power 550-600 hp.
Time throw a head Package 📦 in that thing some drag cartel 2.2s or 3.2

I love the K series engines. You can make cheap reliable power with the Honda. However, I always think Subarus are better in the dirt where they were designed for. Like a race that uses the heavy AWD system and it's not just added weight. This is from an owner of an RSX Type S and a WRX STI conversion.
definitely not designed for dirt lol. if you took a stock sti on a dirt course you're gonna end up breaking something real quick. need a lot of modifications to be rally ready
They are not designed for the dirt. Consumer version is NOT the same as a WRC or rally prepared STI
@@dad1366 You would be surprised. Yes, you need to upgrade some stuff and add skid plates. I down graded my brakes for 15" rims and you can use Forester suspension to lift the car. If you check out Rally ready in Texas their STIs are stripped but not that heavily modded.
We've even lifted crosstrek's swapped wheels and race them off-road. Or at least climb the jeep trails It's quite amazing what the Subarus can do off-road and in the dirt.
Yes you're right You will end up breaking something. That's the nature of any racing especially off-road. That's pretty much guaranteed.
I do think it's cheaper to set it up for the dirt than it is to set it up as a competitive street set ups.

@@tkschrome487 yeah you can tune them but I'll race you in a naturally aspirated k20z3 slight mods with the ECU is not touched. The naturally aspirated j35 in my profile picture is also un tuned and willing to race. We can also race heavy mod and tuning if you want to put some money down.

@GoogleIsRacist I'm down to give you a run for your money . 99 stb forester with a stock Ej205, I just raced an 08 si with a k20 and walked him like he was standing still . If you really want to compare the 2 engines I doubt you thought about the fact boosted Subaru motors are low compression. Vs something like a k24 or j32 are both high compression engines comparing the 2 is like throwing a brick at a brick wall ... Subaru does make new gen n/a engines in the Brz and 86 that push 220-230 HP stock and are high compression same HP rating as a k20-k24 Now that's more comparable . Both have a purpose on how both engines were built. And designed for. , On another note that 06 STI has a VF turbo witch if your familiar is the bigger style turbos Subaru come factory with. That thing should make around 260-280hp but seeing how it's a kid driver I bet he's got mods on it that make it even slower and blowing spark out his ass , that sti didn't sound very good or move very quickly, but on another side note 😂 both aren't fast until you actually tune them and throw some money at it . Doesn't matter who does the work either 🤦 just make sure you take it to a good tuner . Tuners naturally will look over your engine and make sure it's even up to spec before they even touch it . A GOOD TUNER should do that . I know the 3 individual ones i've been to did that .

Gerb, that STI is pretty pathetic for a turbocharged car. He couldn't even get out the camera frame.🤣 I remember my homeboy bought a brand new 2018 STI and called me out in my RSX k20z1 with just bolt ONS and ktuner. I mopped him 3 times in a row, he was so embarrassed. He has the videos but never sent me them lol , if it got mopped in my brand new $49000 car I wouldn't send them either.

I love the rumble, the handling, control on snow and wet surfaces including murdering any high horsepower 2WD car in wet conditions. I have fun racing with other cars on the road here and there, but give me some mountain smooth roads over highways any day of the week, AWD for life!!!
@@noneedforaname72 right on mate , I got the 2019 sti and love the way it feels and it’s so raw and the transmission and diff winding noise and the engine sound it’s addictive. They don’t make cars that feel like the sti anymore. Too electronic these days. Awd is the best too as I’ve always got traction and front drive is quite boring unless it’s a type r civic.
Hold on Downpipe is Stage 2 around 17-18psi . Catback no downpipe is Stage 1 around 16.5PSI so your Si did great ! My 04 is owned by me for over 11 years . It’s E tuned full intake and turboback exhaust running around 18psi and it’s the most reliable car I’ve ever owned I rally x it Autocross it and do fun pulls out on the street they really last as long as you keep to the correct parts for your tune set up. They are touchy when you start going over the mod list for each stage without proper tuning like your Si ECU can compensate for small changes the STi can not.
I would love to run that wrx and that si… get some gapple Bees lol… nice fun though weren’t to far off. Buddy has fg2 boosted with k24 swap doing 10lbs. 280whp I believe last time we went…

It’s such a damn shame, my 2011 WRX Hatch was babies and STILL had serious issues. 3rd grind, injectors failed, head gasket and more.

My 2002 is sti swapped fbo tuned and makes 300whp .. my 08 si fbo turned on flash pro and i love both of them .. my daily drivers are a 2000 1500 ram 4x4 junk lol and a 08 honda fit sport manual transmission with intakd header exhaust ( gas saver ) with suspension sitting on hx wheels
Decrease the preload on the coils and should fix the creep noise. I had same issue.
I adjusted the dampening and greased them up.. Issue is fixed
How I felt with my FBO Civic SI. Reason I traded it for the Type R. If you’re going to spend your time/investment into an SI, you mise well wait for a Type R.
I am saving for a type r eventually, just waiting for my some of my assets to pay off one of these days.
A Type R is like 40 grand. You can buy a 8th gen Si and supercharge it for less than 15.

Speaking as a Subaru guy Hondas are fast, if it was a turbo k series you'd smoke an STi. IMO Subarus were never highway cars, they have really short gearing and can jump out in front until about 90 mph before other cars catch them unless they are specifically built and tuned for the strip or highway. Hondas can be fast anywhere really, they handle very well for FWD cars and even the lower trims have really good brakes for some reason, even the single piston fronts perform like a wrx 4/2 pot brakes...not sure why but it's true, and on a road course good brakes make you much faster.

Was a competitive battle that was enjoyable to watch. The early STI cars are full of character, raw and so much much lighter than the modern STIs. The older ones have certain charm. Love Hondas too!

Your K24 needs a Type S or ported K20Z3 oil pump and Higher Revs the lower rev limit really drops the motor out of the powerband on every upshift other than that it was a good race and I enjoyed it but I'd love to see the K24 reving higher making more horsepower and then a rematch with the STI
