Can you compare and contrast Japanese Natural Stones and Arkansas Stones and specifically address why Arkansas Stones are generally used as oil stones and Japanese Naturals are water stones?
I like my natural stone - Belgium Brik. It contains granet and is very hard. Work really good as polishing stone. I have an nagura of the same material.
Hello, Thanks for your videos ! Quick question about deburring : if i'm not mistaken at 35mn you are alternating edge-leading strokes for the right side of the knife and edge-trailing for the left side. Is there a reason for that method ? I knew about either all edge-leading OR all edge-trailing, but it's the first time i see it alternated like this.
Was the natural sharpening stone mining banned in Japan because they want to protect the environment?

Great question! Why oil vs water on the different stones?

Where can one purchase natural stone powder? Are there some synthetic powders that are less spikey and more rounded particles? Great video. Thank you!
Good question! We'll see if Naoto can get some imported for us to sell.
