Way to go Mister Alexander:) Fresh carp has long been my favourite yabby bait. Cut into two or three big pieces to get the smell into the water. And in a dam where the water isn't moving gut one and drag it on a line across the bottom of the dam before you put your nets in- really gets them out looking for it. Robbie it's great to see that you still get so much genuine enjoyment from your fishing adventures. Long may it continue:) Jay.
I was yabbying at Tilpa Weir back in 2011. I had no bait so picked up the saddle of a large dead Carp on the bank. Ended up catching thousands of yabbies over three or four days. Good yabby bait! Great video Robbie!
Thanks Robbie, enjoyed the video , great to see you catching lots of yabbies. As a kid every net put in a river or channel would have that amount go yabbies. 👍👍🍻🍻
Thanks Liam. I filmed it today mate. I'm just about to watch it myself when I catch up on comments here, and will probably share it early to mid next week.
I knew there were yabbies in there, but not to that extent. And too be so clean after a black water event was surprising too. Plenty of bait with so many carp about. An elder taught me this trick when I was a young fella... Used to hang carp from a tree branch over hanging the water (in remote areas) and leave it so the maggots grow and drop into the water, then we would fish that spot with bardi grubs. And without fail would get fish there hahaha ever do that when you were young Robbie?
That's awesome mate, and I most definitely have done that. Once intentionally and once unintentionally. We caught aassive carp and hung it in a tree in Lake Dartmouth years ago. A few days later we caught Macquarie Perch under it. LOL After the 1993 floods my dad and I pulled up in the boat under a dead cow. It had drowned and was stuck in the tree above. We had some amazing fishing that night. LOL
@@robbiefishing hahaha Thats awesome! I had a feeling you had. That's crazy about the cow, I bet you would have had a great nights fishing for sure under it hahaha

Great video and what a wonderful catch of Yabbies! However, my favourite part of the video was when you were checking the nets and walking along the creek in fast forward! Your shadow just got onto the clip, i thought he’s practicing for the Australian Walking Championships hahaha 🤣 good onya mate loved it. 👍🏻

Ripper video Robbie! I haven’t been able to get a net in the water to see if the yabbies are going crazy over here aswell, i will have to when I get a minute. Ripper!!!
Gday Robbie, absolutely love your vids. Dont worry too much about the ones that get away, im pretty sure they are dumb enough to take your bait again mate. Heres me thinking i prefer saltwater fishing and then i find your channel to change my mind over to another option. Havent done much fresh water fishing. You seem to always have plenty of fun which is what its all about. I also like how you throw the undersize or even good size catches with yabbies, crays and native fish back to keep the system running as it should. Subscribed and given all thumbs up to all your vids ive watched so far. Im not too far away from your area, i think about 3hrs, so yanevano mate, it would be good to meet up and go out on one of your adventures with you. Cheers. B

I’m no Robbie but I’m gonna guess you’re asking about the open top lift nets, hoop nets and collapsible bait traps. Hoop nets yabbies hang, eat the bait and go. Best used in quick checks, Robbie was using these ones in the vid Open top lift nets. Yabbies crawl in, hard for them to get out. Used similar to hoop nets. They’re the new opera house nets (without the opera shape). I personally find the open tops better than the opera when they were a thing. Collapsible bait trap: best used for long soaking (hours). Yabbies and shrimp get in but can’t get out from what I’ve found.
Awsome video Robbie all they have been using is carp as yabby bait around menindee because there are just so many as may aswell use them, but there's been a fish kill in the last month KMs and KMs of just a carpet of dead carp it so remarkable but sad at the same time.
I picked fruit at invergordon back in the seventies and got yabbies in that vicinity. A shame to hear there are carp there now. The drop bars in the irrigation channels were great in those days for yellowbelly and redfin. We used roasted potatoes to catch yabbies back then.
Good fishing session in that wind, not to get some stick um for your hands LOL As for the yabbies, you are just getting greedy now with all those you've catching :) Another outstanding adventure, well done!!!
Hey Robbie I had to use yabby tail once because I run out of bait I peel the tail and the carp love them normally get the big one as they last longer on the hook
Thanks UF, I agree 100%, shrimp are the best of the lot for yellas. Something tells me there isn't too many yellas left in the creek though. Bring on the fish stocking.
