Thanks for the video. Dr. Kinnucan treated me at UM when I went in for a massive flare-up. Loved her.

Thank you so much Dr. Rubin, and the 2doctors that participated in this podcast. Iam a patient of Dr. Rubin, and this information is so needed, and very helpful. I have crohn's and celiac disease, and I decided not to take the vaccination because their was not enough info pertaining to the vaccine in regards to crohn's disease and Ibd. The information that was received is very helpful. I feel much comfortable now with taking the vaccine. Thank You.

10 years without a flare. Got my second Moderna jab last week, and started having flare symptoms within 72 hours. Coincidence? Possibly. Correlation? Seems so. Causation? Maybe.

I've had the same thing. I'm in the UK and had the 2nd pfizer vaccine, seems to have caused a flare and I've had no flares for 2 years. Definitely seems connected

Wondering if it was a flare or temporary side effect from vaccine? Do you know? I'm concerned to vaccinate due to possible flare. Thanks

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis a few years ago and successfully treat it with Mesalamine. I experienced little to no symptoms after my first Pfizer dose last month, but within 48 hours of my second Pfizer dose I am experiencing a significant flare-up. I have continued to take 800mg Mesalamine 3X a day and expect it to take a little while to calm back down. I figured I'd share and hope it helps others piece this together.

Thanks for this video! I'm an IBD patient, and I just received my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine today. I spoke with my gastro NP yesterday about the vaccine's safety and efficacy, and she gave me the go signal (she referred to this webinar).

I may have missed this but why/how would the vaccine not be as efficient and or work as well with IBD? Also am I right in thinking that with my UC causing my immune system to basically be working at 100% all the time would I even have symptoms if I had covid 19? I've had UC for 10 years now. I can count on one hand how many times I've been I'll with colds ect. Before I was diagnosed i was I'll more than the average person with colds/flu.

I have been in remission for over 20 years now, after a hard fought battle for 6 years back then. Thank GOD for 6MP. It saved me almost immediately! Now that the CDC is opening up for comorbidity population, I believe this includes IBD Crohn's & colitis. Is there any word on if we will be made to prove we are in this category, such as a doctor's note? I haven't seen a GI in 20 years and although I have crohn's in remarkable remission, like I feel cured, I still have it. How would I prove that I can be included in this group approved for the vaccine? Thank you!

Don't know if you've already gotten your shot or not, but on an online survey I took prior to being allowed to make an appointment for the shot, I selected that I was in that "other" category for chronic conditions, but between that and my first shot, no one asked me to prove anything, or call a doctor, or even what "other" was. On site, no one questioned me or asked me to fill out any additional forms, just for my phone number, birthday and what shot I needed to get, first or second. The pharmacy I had first contacted, however, did ask to bring proof of my condition, so I can only guess, it depends on where you go or who you get the shot with. If anything, just speak to a real human, and ask them if any additional information is necessary.
