Hallo Robbie es ist immer schön Dir zu zusehen wie Du das mit einer Leichtigkeit machst. Eine sehr schöne Arbeit. War selber immer an der Drehbank gestanden.
Wonderful tool control, Robbie. I admire your ability to "see" the end product of the project in the two pieces you started with!! I look forward to addtional quality videos........ Roger
Mike Waldt Yes, I have plans to do some project oriented clips for RUclips. I am looking for help in production and editing in the this new digital age.
Lovely idea Robbie.A nice piece of cheese and some apple would look great on something like this.....Damn it , I've made myself hungry now....LOL !! Look after yourself. Chris.
This is lovely work and perfect timing because I've been wanting to make something like this for my aunt who will not eat anything but proper butter on her bread. i was going to try to find wood for the job but I'll use a part-turned bowl instead...maybe one of yours. Best Wishes, Brendan.
It very nice to see the project finished and look so good. I am wondering about how would it look if you used the African Black wood for the small button at the top. The contrast would possibly very nice indeed. You have taught me a lot. new woodturner
Top notch tool work my friend. Keep up the great work and keep them Vids comin. The're so inspiring to watch. Wish my tool work was that good. Cheers and God Bless mate, Marc
Beautiful turning as always Robbie. Last week everything on the lathe went wrong for me e.g a bowl exploded, I managed to go through the side of a pepper grinder and so on. However, today went well so I decided to reward myself by watching this upload. It was sheer pleasure. Best wishes, Alan.
Mike Waldt Hello Mike, It's good to get a bit of moral support from someone such as you. Yesterday everything went well on the lathe and when I'd finished I scratched my head and thought "there must be something wrong. I actually turned something successfully". Thanks again for your support. Brendan has gone very quiet again. However, we have been communicating by email and we're both going to a wood turning centre outside Belfast on 8 November as Cindy Drozda will be demonstrating all day. Can't miss that opportunity. Best wishes, Alan.
OH! Thats very nice Robbie! Love your work! And I think someone in my family would love one like that! Think Ill have to give it a try... I miss your happy music when you spin the video fast, and I also would like to ask if you could either tell or put a text on the video what speed rate you spin your late at.. :) Keep turning!
Reminds me of another needed project. I just got one question left, you might me call stupid, but I like to store my butter in the fridge, could you put this into the fridge as well, or is it just for serving at the table? I'm thinking of the relative high humidity inside a fridge and the possible chance of the wood moving. In a way, another great idea to make a lid with a bowl instead of a bowl with a lid! Greetings from Good Old Germany Peter
Your tool control is top notch. I always enjoy watching you turn Robbie!
Hi Robbie always a great pleasure to see you on the lathe another Top Job

Very nice butter dish. At first glance, I thought you would turn it for rectangular sticks of butter. Ok round is good.

Great display of bevel supported slicing cuts on the inside of the bowl Robbie.
About time we had some more offerings from you Lyle :)

Hi Robbie, How do you rate your Vicmarc lathe? I am looking to get a more substantial lathe, but it seems to be a minefield of options.
Hi there, I am a new Woodturner and I was wondering what is the food-safe finish you used on the inside of the bowl?
Many thanks,
Luke
Luke, I think Robbie said somewhere in the video he was using food grade mineral oil (sometimes called liquid paraffin) for the finish.
