The colors are beautiful! Who knew that rust could add character as well?
English Yew has been the most common hedge in Chicago (where I grew up) for decades…we have some really big old specimens dating back to the 1910's at least…obviously not as big and old as the ones in their native land though :)
Incredible. This is truly a master at work. thank you for sharing this with us.
Hi Robbie
That is a wonderful bowl mate, you are an inspiration to me for all the different ways you overcome all the obstacles that we all come up against in trying to hold things on the lathe,

Hi Robbie,
The vase looks very nice.
It is always nice to see what you cast from pieces of wood for vases out.
Sometimes we give the pieces of wood in front of other forms, as we have thought it. :-D

Grandisimo trabajo felicitaciones Robbie.Me gustaria saber que tipo de friccion utilizas para ese acabado tan perfecto muchas gracias y un saludo
great work nice piece
Stunning , your work is so inspirational , keep up the great work !!!
Robbie, very good hollow form tutorial and a beautiful finished piece. Have been making my first attempt at a hollow form. Trying to hollow end grain and thinking maybe that was a mistake. Also very curious as to how you sanded the inside. Thank you for sharing with us. Fred
Fred Graber Thanks Fred i will show in a up date
That was a great video, love how the piece turned out. I hope to do half as good of work that you do one day.
Monte Turner Thank you Monte
Lovely piece Robbie! I know you're proud of it. I wasn't aware that Danish oil would turn dark after 6-8 months. Is that based on the wood species or is that a characteristic of Danish oil? I don't ever want to lose the beautiful natural beauty of the grain and knots. Thanks for sharing your craftsmanship. You're a true artist. Hope all is well with you and yours. :-)
Charlie Zellner Thanks Charlie glad you enjoyed the project
well the wood changes colour with the help of violet light the same as redwood or any wood exposed to light.
probably best to use a good finish with a UV protection
Take care Robbie
Love this piece Robbie. Just found you on RUclips when I was looking for finishing the bottom of a natural edge hollow form. Love your work. I am Irish Descent as my Grandfather was from Londonderry. Would love to visit Ireland one day perhaps.
Nice job 👍 Robbie love your videos.
that is amazing. came here from Peter brown. if you don't mind sharing, what is the reason that you shake. I find it amazing that you can do this amount of delicate work while shaking so much.
That really is a stunning piece. Loved the video.
Merry Christmas & Happy New year.
All the best Mark, Scarborough
mark hoggard Thanks Mark have a good one too
nice one Robbie as always,
Cheers Colin.
Colin Chalmers Thank Colin
Beautiful piece. It is a shame that the color doesn't hold with time Same issue here in the States with red cedar.
By the way, your garden looks lovely. You should give us a tour sometime.
Alex Pettigrew Thanks Alex.i might have to do a gardening video channel there's so much to show
really nice your bowl Robbie!!
Very nice. I can see where it would be very difficult to hollow inside the neck and the top of the vase without the knuckle busters.
***** Yes James well worth it thanks robbie
VERY CLEVER ROBBIE, AND A BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF WORK,
Da hast du ja wieder einmal eine wunderschöne Vase gezaubert, mein Freund!!!
Gefällt mir wirklich gut!
Tiroler
Tiroler Drechsler Thanks Tiroler
Hi Robbie, I am glad you were able to put up this video, I was missing your art mate! Also, as you probably know, I began posting videos with the Ornament Challenge and kept it up doing some more stuff. As a consequence my mother (who loves carpentry) began to watch not only my videos but those of many other wood-turners including you. When she saw the finger-less gloves you wear, she surprised me by getting me a pair. I find them amazingly comfortable and besides that way I can avoid most of the little cuts and scratches that I was getting before. As always, a pleasure to see you work and that was some problematic piece you began with but surely made the most out of it. Congratulations and wood luck in your affairs! Merry Christmas! Daniel
Thank you Daniel have a great Xmas
You too mate!
Robbie, this is really a beautiful piece of wood (after turning). I have to say, I have yet to have the ability to envision how to turn a piece like you just did. Also wanted to ask you. I think you like Crown Elsworth gouges for bowls. But several times I have seen some woodcut tools being used. Have you noticed less vibration with them due to the solid shaft? Also, how does the cutting steel hold up to other M2 steels you have. I guess what I am wondering is how often you have had to change the tips? And any reason you don't try or like them for bowl turning?
Fantastic job
Very beautiful nicest I have seen!
Gorgeous vase Robbie! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Marc Tuunanen Thank you Marc have a good one too
A truly beautiful piece Robbie, and welcome back! I've missed your videos.
A few questions if you don't mind, I would love to see how you sanded this piece on the inside, do you have it on video? might you do a follow up? I would also love to see the plug you made, and how the vase looks with it.
Thanks for the upload!!
yuval lahav Tanks Yuval i will show in a update

Tony
***** Thank you Tony have a good one too
jUST BEAUTIFUL, WELL DONE ROBBIE
very beautifull work
A lovely piece, Robbie
Steve SteveS Thanks Steve
Awesome vase Robbie! What a great save of an ugly piece of firewood... You mentioned that yew will darken over time and the beautiful grain swirls will disappear? Does exposure to UV light cause that? I've heard of other woods that do the same, but never heard of yew doing that... Thanks so much for sharing yet another wonderful video! Safe turning to you and Merry Christmas!
Kenn Harris Thanks Ken yes uv has a effect on all woods using a uv protecting finish can help
nice bowl mate is that a new steel workshop I see there u kept that quiet better have a tour lol nice vid
paul alderton Thanks Paul
Great work, bravo!
Incredibly beautiful, as all your turnings are. How did you sand the inside?

Lee
Lee Waterman Thank Lee i hope not :0 i will do a update on that
Hi Robbie, Excellent work. it's on my list to get a lathe, always wanted one. Done a little bit in school. But would love to learn more.
Did you learn it yourself ?And how much would a piece like the flower vase from yew bit worth when finished?
Thank you
Loved it.
nice bowl.
Beautiful job!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Take care, Dave
David Morgan Thank you Dave have a good one too
