Disconnecting the ground/black terminal will increase the battery life 10x or more, but an ECU reset is not always welcome (Toyota 🤣) I am using two Noco Genius, the 1 and the 2... one for each of my cars (SUV and Mazdaspeed 3) I am hoping to extend the life expectancy of the Optima batteries as much as possible this way, a 40 min drive barely fully charge each... that means an alternator load and a heavier engine load, plus the battery gets healthier operation fully charge all the time
Ohh, I forgot to mention to never ever leave an OBD2 connector/device connected. While charging the system either the high voltage triggers a PCM operation mode or something similar... and the OBD2 device engages, my COBB Accessport and my Bluetooth one, and that’s a power drain which is not welcome with 1 or 2 amps chargers. Also I recommend the quick connect battery terminals thing... it’s safe and unless you wash your engine while the Noco is connected with a high pressure machine... all is good he he I installed AC outlets in front of each car, the bonnet/hood can be closed with the red/black cable underneath with out issues.
Look. Quick charging batteries KILLS them. I bought the 1-amp Genius because they don't offer a .5 amp model. If everyone would SLOW charge their batteries, the replacement battery industry would go out of business.
I have a waverunner battery hooked up to it and it started red but is now fully green. What I’m wondering is this ok? Even though it’s full green is it still trickle charging? I thought maybe it would pulse green to keep charge low?
Green means it's fully charged and will go into maintenance mode... if you leave it connected it'll keep it fully charged and if it needs more charging it will automatically take care of it.

It seems unusual that it is still not fully charged after 4 days... is the red light pulsing to show that it is charging? Did any other error lights come on?
Definitely not normal then... is the battery holding a charge at all? Will it start the car? If so then perhaps something is wrong with the charger. You may want to get the battery tested at a store or shop to see if the problem is the battery or the charger.
I'd look for maybe an outlet near your work or school that you can use. Otherwise perhaps keep a jump starter handy instead, and try to drive the car at least once every two weeks for around 15-20 minutes to keep the battery charged.
This Comment is kinda Strange 😲😳. Every Apartment and houses and Condos have Electrical Outlets. Even people live in the mountains still have them....❓❓❓
@@Honestandtruth007 some apartment residents don't have designated parking and have to park outside on the street. For them, it might not be practical (or safe) to run a longer extension cord out to their car and keep their hoods open to allow charging.

Its more a maintainer rather than a charger. I have motorbikes I don't touch for six months, just leave it on all the time. I have a couple of other chargers if I need it doing fast, CTEK 5amp and a CTEK 25amp.
Not an expert on batteries. I purchased a used nautilus deep cycle group 31 battery. It is sealed. I bought the NOCO GENIUS 1 and not quite sure what setting it should be to charge. I currently have it on the 1st 12V setting and according to manual it will take approx 22 hrs to fully charge. At the moment, it is pulsating red. I hope everything is ok and it just a matter of time. I will be using the battery for a trolling motor. Do you know if I can charge the batttery from my car battery because I will be in an area where there is no electricity.
yeah pulsing red means it is charging, and it will take some time. It took mine a full day to charge as well, made me realize that if you need faster charging time you should buy a more powerful one like a NOCO Genius5 or Genius10. But since I am just using it to maintain the battery on a car that doesn't get driven every day, the Genius1 does the trick (but slowly).
Find out which type of battery you have. Standard flooded or AGM or Lithium. Then, toggle the MODE button to the proper setting. If it's charging properly, the red light should pulse.
ahh, that's a tough one. Is there an outlet you can use near your work or at a friend or family's place, to keep the car parked and plugged in? Otherwise, maybe instead of the charger, you need to just have one of the jump starters with you when you need to start the car. Or just try to start and drive the car every two weeks or so, even a 15 or 20 minute drive somewhere will do the trick.
I'm talking about 2 different products in this video... the trickle charger is just for charging the battery slowly, while the portable jump starter ... lets you jump start the car.
You can certainly do that ... but that means remembering to do it, making a lot of noise, burning gas and potentially stinking up the garage with exhaust each time i do that because you're going to have to let it sit and idle for a while to charge up the battery that way. If you don't, you might just be depleting the battery instead of charging it. Definitely it's no substitute for actually starting the car up and driving it around a little at least once a month. But just keeping the battery charged with a trickle charger is clean, efficient and easy.
well, this video was made last year during the midst of the pandemic ... and in my state we had a shelter-in-place order or curfew, so non-essential workers were ordered to stay home and not go out. hence the "lockdown".

I did the same. So, I took the battery out of my car and brought it home [heavy!!!] and charged it there. Bought a jump starter instead

I don't think the wiring is that sturdy, but maybe if you cover up the plug end of it to shield it from the elements you might be OK.
