    Have the same issue with lights on both my Cayenne and Boxster and tbh I just don’t really care 🤷🏻‍♂️ In regards to the other points you’ve mentioned I think that it’s mostly the case that you’ve been looking at ownership of this car through the rose tinted glasses - most of those things could be really easily checked before ordering the car, so that you’d know for what are you signing up for. If you didn’t check it properly, then it’s nobody else’s fault but yours 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Well to be honest if you just paid it you would have paid $460 and got the point on your record and the point on your record is the worst part of it. So I mean you got to pay them some money because they did go to court for you and they got the point off your record which is the most important thing. And when you think about it they take $100 off your fine. That's actually not bad. I've been thinking about using this app myself. I might try it out I'm not sure yet. But I'm more concerned with the point on the record. They got the point off your record and normally they said that you're not eligible for school to get the point off your record That's pretty cool

    I have a Shark Blue 911 and my son has a Neptune Blue 2.0 GR86. I agree with your assessment. I feel like the Neptune is a little paler, the shark blue is a little deeper/more color saturation, but they are very close. I have them parked next to each other currently in the garage and was comparing the colors yesterday before you dropped your video. 😂 I also think the shark blue changes it’s look more in different light/darkness more than the Neptune. Such as, direct sunlight vs. shade.

    Thx for the comparison. Was always curious to see how the two colours compared. Sadly Toyota discontinued the blue. Wanted to order one in Neptune blue or Blaze blue as the call it in Australia with the performance pack but a few dealers came back to say it is no longer being offered despite still being advertised. A little bummed as I’m not sold on the other colours.

    Hey Pmok, I recently obtained the same Tein SRCs as you, including the 10k F and 12k R spring rates. I too am having difficulties dialing in the damping settings to favor a comfortable, dailyable ride. Do you happen to recall some settings you experimented with which resulted in a comfortable ride? And just to be sure, rebound damping adjustment is at the top while compression damping adjustment is at the bottom? I don't have the users manual nor can I find it online. Thanks in advance!

    • @86drive86
      @86drive86 11 дней назад

      hey Derek, for max comfort (street driving) I basically turned them all the way to their softest setting (16 all around). For any actual performance driving I followed the recommendations of CSG, which you can find in this forum thread here in post #2: www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25867 CSG's description of the product in post #1 also explains where all the adjustments are -- I can never remember which one is which, because it's flipped between the front and rear so pretty hard to remember what's what. I just bookmark that page or keep a screenshot for reference whenever I want to make an adjustment. Then you can tweak them from there.

      @@86drive86Thanks for the information! I’ve been referencing that forum post pretty heavily but ultimately had to email CSG as that post contains conflicting information regarding what knobs control what. Since the front dampers are inverted, the rebound adjustment is on top while compression adjustment is on bottom for the front and opposite for the rears. I’ll have to try the damping set to 16 all around for more comfort. Thanks again for your response!

    I have the 981 GTS and none of these things are an issue for me. Have had the tail lights fog up once in 4 years and it cleared overnight and has not happened again since. Seats are fine for my size, in fact the most comfortable that I have ever had in any car over the past 50 years. My A/C keeps the settings - so maybe this is a setting that you can change in the menu system.

    It was a win based on my books. If you have fought the ticket alone you would not have gotten traffic school after the officer appeared. If your speed was less and you were entitled for traffic school and you could not get a refund from OTR then I agree that’s a bummer. If you are eligible for traffic school fight the case yourself. If not eligible for traffic school, an attorney is beneficial. Don’t feel bad you got your moneys worth with OTR.

    I have a 987.1 S in manual. The only complaint I can relate too is the over engineered and digital oil dip stick. Though it only occurred on my last oil change. I don’t have moister in lights, reverse shift linkage or other modern features. Overall, it’s been very reliable for me even though it’s 18 years old. It was a different time back then in Stutsguard.

    Most of these don't bother me. The one you missed is the windows won't roll down after 2 presses and hold of the key fab unlock button. That one is irritating as it's so common on cars that are 10-15+ years old. The oil reading is bad, agree there. Mine rarely works. Luckily I have only had taillight issues when washing occasionally, agree it's odd to not be sealed. Row the gears and all those nuance things will go away.

    2:40 I went with the power sport seats and not the sport plus type in your car because the lower bolsters are less prominent and I’ve heard it makes them a bit easier to get in and out of the car, and without excess wear the left bolster on the drivers side over time. I suspect the larger bolsters also make for less seat width (?)

    Porsche is crazy about the options. Nowadays almost every car has led lights standard but porsche says no they will charge you for that. And a lot things could be standard like key less entry, lane keep assist and adoptive cruise control, floor mats, and when buy gts 4 it doesn't even come with gts interior as standard you have to pay for it. Porsche entry and drive opening of the trunk and frunk on my 2023 Cayman S has worked fine and reliably, bit it took some practice to know where to put your hand. you have to place it in the middle of the front bumper directly in front of the Porsche crest on the hood and actually lightly touch the surface while you have the keys on you. For the rear trunk, again in the middle and not on the spoiler, but on the deck below that area where the model designation is. You have to actually lightly touch the car. Waving hand over the surface won’t activate the opener. Hope this helps

    Did you manage to keep it below 4k the entire 2000 miles or open it up a bit along the way? I’m taking delivery on Thursday. It’s going to be painful staying below 4k for that long! Is the power just completely different at the top of the rev range? I didn’t realize Motul makes an oil that’s allowed in these cars. I had read some forum posts about only using the Mobil 1 C40 oil to avoid warranty issues. Is that not the case? I always used Motul XCESS in my 996 turbo and love the company so would prefer to find a Motul oil for my CGTS!

    • @86drive86
      @86drive86 29 дней назад

      Most Porsche owners probably will raise their self-imposed redline progressively once they pass 500 or 1000 miles. You can go to 5K at 500, 6K at 1000, 7K by 1500, etc. 2000 miles of staying under 4K is indeed painful to get through. And yeah, the power doesn't really come on until you're in the higher revs. Sadly, on the street you don't really get that many opportunities to wring it out up to redline in a safe and legal manner -- you're going to want to head to the track or an autocross to truly experience it properly. Motul does make a C40 oil, the 8100: static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10232392-0001.pdf

    • @Bavariaria

      @@86drive86that is an older Porsche bulletin. There is a newer one from September 2023. Motul lost its designation and isn’t approved on the 2023 and 2024 cars. I think the company that used to provide certain additives lost its certification so Porsche does not allow Motul in our engines anymore.

    • @Bavariaria
      @Bavariaria 26 дней назад

    Ok, I myself are not concerned with your 10 gripes except 1-the taillight moisture. From 77-02 I worked on 50 million dollar carrier based fighter aircraft. They broke in some way almost every flight. Flight control Hydraulics, Comms, Electronics, Engines etc. My point is cost does not guarantee quality. I have driven in my positions Rolls Royce Phantom, Ferrari 550 and an ENZO, Porsche 996 Turbo, BMW 3,6&7s. Myriad other cars & many trucks. None were without flaws. I am searching for a used 981 as a weekend tourer. Your views I take into consideration. However it is a machine and the sum of its parts are rarely perfect. I say enjoy what you have. Like the guys with big smiles I see driving older fairly worn out 97-04 Boxters, Mercedes SLs, 80’s Corvettes, 5.0 Mustangs & old Miata’s. If I had 100K then a 0:15 smartly used 911 would be in my garage. Until then I will take my measly 50K & find a lower mileage 981 & enjoy the heck out of it. I will accept its features & issues before the purchase. Thanks for your video view point. 🇺🇸

Same is true of a slow car on the road too. If they stay in the middle of the lane it's basically saying they won't let you pass or will make it difficult for you to do so.

    I’m with you… I have a 2024 718 Boxster Style Edition and I also have some issues Mine was built in the VW plant Osnabrück and the finish quality is not top notch for a PORSCHE… I do have condensations on the tail lights, also the paint was afoul and I did do the unwrapping of my car, so the problem was from factory. Also, I’ve had done a lot of reading and the paint issues in PORSCHE are very common as the paint is extra soft… I have the manual sports seat (2 ways) and mine is losing the hight, so often that sometimes in one drive I must regulate the seat (this is the most annoying issue I have), interior trim with some minor defects in the leather… and yes the reverse is somehow hard to shift, but for me the second worst thing is the lack of feel from the clutch pedal, so that, I still sometimes stall the car (after 10K Kms) and I’m in my 50s and always drove manuals cars… For plus 100K, I do agree the quality should be much better... but there is a greater feeling and that is when I slam the accelerator and the car “fly’s” whit so much composure and completely stuck to the road!... All cars have their oddities, there are no perfect cars!

    My 987 interior quality is embarrassing. A couple notes for you and everyone else: When closing the frunk I would avoid pressing on the emblem. As others have noted, the hood is aluminum and will bend if there is too much pressure. You did it perfect, fingers spread out basically over the latch. On 987s I've been told that letting the rear hatch fall closed with the windows closed can pop the rear window out. The oil gauge is universally hated. If you do your own oil changes I suggest putting up to a quart of oil less than the capacity. Check the oil level and adjust. I always run about a half quart low (one notch on my car) because if you overfill it there's a chance at high rpm you will pull oil into the air intake. Expensive and difficult to clean up (from personal experience). And there's no excuse for the cup holder. Just plain stupid. If you'd like to expand your club and Porsche experience I suggest you check out the Porsche Club of America. Lots of great people, knowledge, and a variety of events. And given you've made, IMHO, an excellent choice of car/engine/transmission, if you haven't already I would highly suggest trying out at least one day of High Performance Drivers Education (DE or track day for short). You get to learn and experience what your car was built for with skilled instructors in a safe and fun environment. I can guarantee you will never look at your car in the same way!! Feel free if you, or anyone else, is interested in DE to reach out to me for more information. If you enjoy your car on the twistys imagine taking it around Laguna Seca or Sonoma at speed. You don't necessarily need a Porsche, and you can be a guest of a member too.

    I have a 2019 Cayman and the condensation issue is annoying. My car is garaged, so the issue is less maddening. Still, there should be a better and permanent solution. The electric dipstick is also annoying. I've owned my call for over 4 years and slam the rear trunk lid without issue. I rarely use the frunk, but it is soooo light, I gently close it with the palm of my hand. Otherwise, I'm satisfied, and there is no perfect car.

    Regards closing frunk & trunk; the difference between normal car panels & lightweight panels. You won't want a thoroughbred racehorse to pull a plough. It can do but a draught horse is better suited to plough.

    The Shark Blue "GT4RS" that was in front is my friend's car. Its actually a GT4 with a RS body kit on it but he's modded it to where it has similar performance to an RS.
