Not even close bud. Kirk will likely finish his career with the Vikes over these next 2 years, and I'd expect Kwesi and KO to be around for at least 5 years. Kwesi has already transformed the salary cap, and will surprise many fans who only know the Vikes being broke during FA.

Kwesi's drafts have been about league average. He's had some bad injury luck early. Just remember Hunter didn't start until year 3 so your current logic would have classified him as a bust, which makes you a very, very moderate judge.
You actually make a good case for Kwesi pointing out how how he made Kirk make some concessions before re-signing him last season, and playing hardball on the guaranteed money again this year.

@@tavius88 a new beginning for the franchise to get out of the mediocrity we are in right now. It’s okay to reset for a season with a rookie qb let him get settled in and build up for 2025-2026. It would also save us money for future years to build out a roster to eventually win a championship. Right now we aren’t built for championship so no reason to bring back Kirk and waste his talent.

First of all, they were almost 500 without Kirk last year using his backups. Whats this 3-14 nonsense? The only thing Kirk carries is this team to a near 500 record. Before 2020-2021, he was pretty much a career 500 record. Does that scream “carry the team” to you?
What you’re failing to admit is that if we weren’t paying Kirk, we’d sign or draft a different QB making a lot less money. That would leave a bunch more money to sign other players, filling holes elsewhere like CB, DL or IOL. What Kirk supports won’t consider that is that jd we don’t have Kirk, they would have a starting QB, not Nick Mullens.
Your comments about the draft are fear. If you’ve been around as long as I have, is it the Ponder F up? Teddy injury? You don’t avoid drafting a high QB because it’s less than a 100% success rate. And taking a QB lower than the top rounds is a crap shoot.

With a rookie qb would love to have a running game and for a running game might want to sure up that middle. Speaking of that middle they do not seem capable of blocking or holding up the defense to give any time for a qb or rb. I'm not sure a rookie qb would be a good idea at this time. Especially with the recievers we have. Develop a qb I would be good with gives the vikings a chance to fill those holes at center, rb, dt, de for a good run in 2 years

It's not an either/or. I'd expect them to bring back Kirk and draft a QB this year if they can get a guy they want. But drafting a QB for the sake of it is also a bad idea - ask the Falcons about Ridder or Steelers about Pickett, or Commanders about Howell.

Kwesi really shot this team in the foot with the '22 draft. KoC made the most of a mediocre team in yr. 1.
Yr 2 was injury plagued and a huge disappointment. Fumbles defined the whole season. Mattison sucked.
Now? We have no QB and our best defensive player is a FA. If we do re-sign Kirk he'll be 36 coming off an Achilles tear. Yikes.
But either way we have huge needs at QB, EDGE, DL, IOL, CB, LB. Harrison Smith is probably gone, too. These guys need to NAIL this year's draft.

From a Vikings fan of 47 years, my feeling in all of this is; Farve was with us 2009-2010. Stacked offence And Defense. Only small holes in that Defense. Maybe both safeties and both Cb2 and Slot Cb. On Offense, maybe we could have done better at Wr3 and maybe 2 spot.

What’s crazy is minus the Rb position, this offense with KC at Qb and EVERYBODY healthy, is more potent than 09-10. Probably by far. The defense right now though? Is shit. Our OLine is shit. BFlo has definitely helped but we need help on OLine and Dline. At safety, at CB for sure. And probably a solid Lb to help Pace. But KC runs this offense like the back of his hand. Granted the injury probably won’t help him (he’s never been mobile anyhow lol) I’d say resign KC for obviously less than what he wants, draft a Qb, trade Hunter for some pieces and (hear me out) either sign JJ or get the fucking world for him. We can still have a great offense without him. Or we can pay him because he’s earned it. Either way I’m fine with. We need some big boys up front on both ends tho

The Vikings can feel good about paying their Star receiver. He has given them a lot for very little money so far. In contrast, when the Vikings had to pay Hock, for what he did for a division rival team. This is the difference here, between these two talented players.

If KOC REALLY wants Kirk back desperately then he's not the Head Coach I thought he was. Everyone here thought he would be brought in over Harbaugh to identify a young QB of the future and then mold him to his scheme. Nobody recalls that the 49ers were missing several key players, that Jordan Addison stole an interception resulting in a 60-yard touchdown and keeping the outplayed 49ers from taking the lead before halftime. The Vikings held on for a home win and capitalized on short-term results in their role as eminent pretenders. They have never been a serious Super Bowl contender during Cousins' time as QB1. What this interview should tell everyone that listens is that Kevin O'Connell is not an elite coach and will very likely be replaced before the Vikings actually become contenders. Re-signing Cousins will only delay the inevitable and "more of the same" won't get the job done.

And I still think if things are right around Kirk, he can win a Super Bowl. He was the best QB in football last season before he got hurt.
