    This blaster is going to become the "Tippmann 98" (ubiquitous, failure-proof Paintball marker that every field that does rentals has on hand) of Nerf rentals if semi-pro Nerf arenas ever become a thing.

    I really appreciate the not overly negative tone of this compared to Walcom, you seem to much more reasonable and level headed about understanding the perspective of hasbro as a company, while still acknowledging that it could’ve been better. This seems like a perfect start to someone who wants to just try superstock levels but doesn’t want to invest and worry about things like lipos, this is the perfect entry to the hobby, but for those in the hobby we just have better/equal options

      @@CaptainXavier There's yet to be a video comparing both blasters and I am not able to acquire both at the moment however, drac has already made a review on the omnia which was relatively positive. There are obviously pros and cons to both blasters but by comparing them from what they advertise, the omnia has select fire, comes with 2 magazines, and costs 30 bucks less. The Stryfe X has a mechanical pusher as opposed to the electronic pusher that's in the omnia, lipo included with the stryfe X instead of a lithium-ion battery like the omnia, and it's made by hasbro so it's cool to see them embracing our hobby. I don't think the stryfe X is bad, I just personally don't see the value given what both blasters advertise. My apologies if you find my comments ignorant and annoying but I'm only sharing my own opinion. Still I thank you cap for your criticism towards my comment as I agree, I can't share any evidence, only speculation. Love your content Xavier!

    I think it cannot be overstated how important the compatibility with Talon mags is. Also the architecture surrounding the LiPo battery and the self-contained system is a huge win. Not really concerned that it's not backwards compatible with third-party cosmetic kits because frankly that's why you have your previously modded Stryfes that you can use them with if you want to go that route. I would happily use this on a field and would have next to no complaints regarding that

    As to why they opted not to include much compatibility with body kits, my guess is a major reason is so many of the designs mimic real steel. Could argue, what's the difference with this release and the regular Stryfe? But I'd say it's to do with this one being in that upper performance bracket and they'd rather this attention getting step they're taking not come out and people immediately put their AK, H&K and Vector kits on.
    Interested to see if they release more sporting accessories for these new rails too.

    Love your review. As someone who recently moved (and had to leave behind their toolbox 😢), I appreciate how quickly costs of the hobby can add up. Wire strippers, tape, epoxy, soldering iron...etc...
    One point to add; the fool-proof nature of the battery and the simplicity of the wiring could make this an excellent (albeit expensive) backup blaster.
    I love my 4s daybreak stryfe to bits, and there's no way this would replace it as my favourite. But in the back of my mind I'm always half expecting a solder join to pop or a screw to come loose at the wrong time. This would be an excellent choice to leave in the boot of the car in case the primary goes down.

    The thing I thought about when I saw that the eyewear plate was removable is that it’s the perfect place for a potentiometer to dial the FPS back to HVZ standard.
    While the StryfeX is almost needlessly expensive, it does have potential to be a very simple blaster to mod for a wide variety of rule-sets… oh, and a lipo we don’t have to worry about as much is AWESOME now if they’d sell the batteries separately…

      Unless Nerf designs a new half length dart, I think a springer in the Pro line would actually be a bad idea. The heads on those Accustrike darts are about the same width as the foam, which causes increased barrel friction (and therefore decreased consistency) in springers. It's also why the heads on Worker and Dart Zone half lengths are all slighly narrower than the foam, and Dart Zone didn't just use cut down Waffles or Chilis for the DZP line.

    I really appreciate this video. I think sometimes some people believe it’s edgy and cool to just instantly shit on everything Nerf/hasbro makes.
    If it wasn’t for Nerf this hobby wouldn’t exist. The hobbyist/mod community was never their target demographic. So it makes sense when the hobby/mod community was disappointed with a lot of nerfs offerings.
    This is a signal that Nerf /hasbro could be getting into the mod/hobby niche going forward. If that’s not enough to make someone excited they just have an irrational hate for Nerf/Hasbro.
    If nerf/hasbro has decided to move into this niche we would be fools to bet against them. People forget How mind blowingly cool Elite was when it released.

    My only major gripes are the proprietary battery ( shape )- seems like they could have made it smaller and less bulbous, shaped in such a way that it would work with other future blasters rather than being Stryfe Pro only, and the price- it really is rather expensive. Those 2 issues seem to make this blaster aimed almost solely at beginners into the 'pro' side of the hobby rather than enthusiasts, since we already have our highly customized blasters with preferred battery set ups and whatever other mods- this thing doesn't need modding to be more powerful, or rewiring, it's ready to go and newb-friendly.
    It's not a bad entry into the pro space by any means, just needs to come down in price and they really do need to offer spare batteries.

      I think the idea of the battery is good aswell
      I do see it as an unfortunate proprietary set up with a the taper contour the match the shell
      I think if they fill that part in and made the battery more square it would then be a step to compatibly towards other blasters.
      Maybe it a trial and error set-up to see how it works and if Hasbro makes other flywheel blasters that then could make a compatible battery to suit multiple blastes

    I think that new battery design is brilliant. Yes we all already have lipos but that's enough of an advancement on it to make it worth considering, even for entrenched hobbyists imo. When you showed us that removable panel I thought that might be a suitable spot to splice in an XT60 connector (with a bit of modification to the expanded battery doors we already have).
    Only points I'm a bit peeved on...
    1. Why is it so hard to make a flared magwell?
    2. While I'm used to using the offhand for mag releases I feel like it wouldn't have taken much to also retain the rev trigger mag drop
    3. Kinda wish it had a foregrip and I don't see why they eliminated the n-strike barrel lug.
    Edit: projecting into the future, if they made a hobby-grade stampede they'll cement themselves straight at the top

    Frankly I'd just run this thing as a sidearm, in place of something like a Dessert Pidgeon or similar. If I were to want a half-dart flywheel primary, I'd stick with my FDL-2X or the DZP Mk 3, and if I wanted a springer primary, I'd go with my Aeon Pro, custom Zinc 2.0 with extended magazines, or Caliburn. The fact that this takes standard Talon magazines instead of proprietary ones, or angled Talons, means that I can stick a Tachi mag on it and still use it one-handed, which is helpful for some situations. In close quarters non springer rounds, that could be really beneficial, actually.

    Sadly, there are a lot more attendees at LARP events with foam flinging than the competitive stuff. On the other hand, it might finally make the LARP'ers realise that eyepro should be a thing

    Solid blaster. Nerf tax feels a bit too high in this case compared to other flywheel pro level blasters. If it goes on sale at any point for $90 I might pick one up.

    I have to agree, the best thing they did for us was making the mag talon compatible. The battery is probably the best thing they did for the average consumer though.
    It's frustrating that they changed ALL OF THE INTERNALS though so none of the existing kits will work. If they had to change the inside of the shell that much, they should have changed the outside too, it wouldn't have altered their costs any (afaik).
    It's too bad that I'm boycotting hasbro as a company though, for many reasons, particularly centered around M:tG and DnD though including the past few years of Nerf as well, because this is a very intriguing offering.

    My issues are that it costs 30 dollars more than the Omnia, and doesn't have a ton going for it over the Omnia. Similar size, but about the only advantage is the spin up time as far as I have heard. Also, the lack of pic rail is a head scratcher especially after Hasbro did so much RIGHT in making this blaster.
    Overall, it isn't bad or offensive, but I'd rather have the Omnia and save the $.

    Whilst I get the cost of buying all the parts to build a stryfe similar does exceed the cost of this even being in Australia with the currency conversion bring the cost up plus shipping but as most of us are already in the hobby n own lipos n chargers n 3d printers or at least have access too, IV gotta say it's a lil too late. As somebody coming into the hobby with no mod experience or plans to open a blaster up but wanna play among the big boys still then this would b a great blaster but Ur still gonna end up buying everything to continue with the hobby, cost Vs the resp of the market is well overpriced n the rest of the market is more pointed towards modders over newer players but still outperform NERF everytime almost halving the price for functionally similar. Personally I'd rather buy a banned blasters set up n print the extras to add to a spare shell or blaster n know il have a better blaster but as a long term modder, designer n 3d printer which IV turned I to a business I would probably charge a lil extra for the commission mainly for the bb cage set up but here in Australia were I play most of the events are 200/300 events and have only recently upt our family friendly from 130 to 150 capped which I don't really attend as if only got like 2/3 modded blaster in that range n the rest would be actually stock which tbh isn't as fun as a full auto 180 burst moving cover to cover or busting a single dart in-between the gap of a pallets to get that sweet sweet rib shot from someone hiding behind them. So unfortunately in short i can't just any pre-existing modder to invest in a stryfe pro under any circumstances here in Australia but to the US customers wanting a loaner to give out to encourage to play or even for the occasional player who doesn't wanna go hard modding but wants to still get out when they can, cost n location n intent for regular play are the big appeal and downfall of the NERF stryfe x pro

    I live in the UK, so doubtful I'd ever see this on store shelves, but even so I think the only thing putting me off from this is the price point. I understand that the LiPo technology is actually a good investment, but I think the cost comparison to general LiPo chargers and the batteries themselves doesn't include the now conveniece of having a battery that can work in more than just one blaster. I do love the idea of the rechargable quick install battery, it's brilliant, but I don't think it alone justifies such a massive price point.
    I am by no means an expert, I will not sit here spouting how they're overcharging just to increase profits, but on a more pragmatic level I simply cannot see a reason to spend more money on this when other offerings on the market do more for less.
    What I would like to see is Hasbro using this to probe the market, see if they can enter the Pro game and set a price point, and then see that they need to bring the prices down to be more competetive. I think if they can increase the competitiion between them and Adventure Force/Dart Zone, it will lead to all parties having to step up their game! I sincerely hope that the price point isn't simply to try and fake a point that there's "no interest in the pro market" like some are theorising, because the success of other pro level blasters clearly is proving otherwise.
    I'm sincerely trying not to be negative about this, but personally I am feeling the "You were *this* close to greatness" in this blaster.

    Apropos of nothing... there will be a 2nd, much shorter note attached to one of those items in the form of a post-it (that I remind you I definitely did not purchase, specifically to place into that package) that you should read first, before reading the more lengthy, traditional note. One of the major problems with this blaster that I've seen is in the magazines: I believe Maritime Foam pointed out that while the Stryfe X can take Talons, the Nerf Pro Magazines do NOT work in any blaster that isn't the Stryfe X. That to me is quite disappointing because as far as I'm aware of, the Nerf Pro magazines are now the cheapest out there at $10 for two of them.
    Also, I'm surprised at how few people have talked about the potential downsides to using cut Accustrikes. While they work quite well in flywheelers, the fact that the head of the dart is about the same width as the foam makes them a pretty bad idea to use in springers. Similar to cut Waffles or Chilis, if the head of the dart is the same width as the foam, that can increase barrel friction in springers, and therefore decrease consistency and performance. If you look at Bamboos, Rubies, Embers, and Worker Gen3s, the heads on all of those darts are slightly narrower than the foam for that exact reason.

    • @CaptainXavier
      @CaptainXavier  10 месяцев назад +2

      We haven't talked about it because...this is a flywheeler and they work great in it. If they come out with a Springer (which they have said they do not plan to) and release it with these darts and they don't work well THEN we will talk about it. ;)

    I have seen SOOOOO many box stock blasters marketed at 150FPS consistently hit the 160FPS mark. This in turn makes the blaster "illegal" to use a local events. The solution is simply to raise the FPS cap to 160FPS as most these off the shelf blasters, springers included, consistently hit 160FPS max and usually never over. Why the community is so enamored with the 150 FPS number is beyond me.

    • @CaptainXavier
      @CaptainXavier  10 месяцев назад

      Because if we change it to 160fps because that is what some stock blaster hits, then when a blaster comes out that hits 170 they will expect us to change it to 170. Then 180, then 190, and so forth. 150 was chosen to safety and comfort. You should not compromise safety standards for convenience.

    • @lipoz-n-nitroz4012
      @lipoz-n-nitroz4012 10 месяцев назад

      @@CaptainXavier I'm not here to argure but "safety standards?" It's nerf. People make it seem as if there is data to show that anything over 150 FPS is dangerous. I've played 300FPS capped 'nerf' games and I've also played along side children playing 350FPS capped airsoft games. The danger is limted to the end user, usually not an FPS cap.

    • @CaptainXavier
      @CaptainXavier  10 месяцев назад

      "I'm not here to argue" ...hmmm...dubious...
      I have played 300 FPS games too. Also 75, FPS, 100 FPS games, 150 FPS, 200 FPS games, 220 FPS games, 250 FPS games, I even attended a no limit game and left with a massive goose egg on my forehead. I have played with smoke grenades, in the rain, climbing over rusty surplus WWII tanks (which was AWESOME!). I understood why some of those limits were what they were. Others seemed very arbitrary (220? Really? At least for 225). But I respected the people running the game enough to accept they knew their reasons.
      There are reasons so many public, family friendly, nerf clubs cap at 150. Some of it is safety but no one really believes that 150 is somehow infinitely safer than 160. A lot of it is comfort and fun. Not everyone wants their Nerf games to hurt. They want to have fun, not get welts. Thru trial and error we found that 150 is a good balance between performance and fun. And I don't think we should change that just because Hasbro's new blaster hits a little harder. That seems like a really bad reason to change the FPS limit. Because what happens with Worker releases a 170 blaster? Change it again? At some point you reach a point where it stops being fun for a lot of people and they stop coming.
      There are times and places for high FPS games. I host and attend several. But those are private, adult only events. Public, kid friendly events have to be treated differently. If we are going to change the FPS it needs to be for a better reason that convenience.
