As the former bone leader for SAU, I know for a fact there is no comparison.. Its 1-2 people for each part... You gotta play out if youre soloing a part over 5 others 1 or 2 of which are also soloing simultaneously... Dont comment if you never been the only instrument for your section in a College marching band.
The tuba line that feels they have something to prove behaves the way SAC did. They have great arrangements but easy to keep clean when only 6 players. Their specialty is being loud and they are a beast for 6 dudes. But volume is only one dimensional. They are basically a well dressed high school line with potential to be one of the best ever but their own worst enemy from being an outstanding line
Honestly NCCU took that they had a beautiful sound I take quality over quantity any day especially in a tuba section. Oh... Not to mention how down right disrespectful and childish it was of SAU to interrupt in mid fanfare.
in my opinion sau had this, their fanfares are difficult and theyre played it with great tone. nccu has great tone but that is expected when you play soft or you have soft fanfare. but yall are an inspiration to sousaphone players everywhere so keep it up!
Aug made themselves look ignorant, and unprofessional. It's obvious NCCU had the musicality, and cleanliness (what actually matters). Overall a great battle.
NCCU took this W, professionalisms, tone quality, articulations, phrasing, Dynamics all played a part in their playing not to mention song selection. SAU highly disappointing and disrespectful, this a head on head section battle with unlimited time (that’s how you know you getting #Smashed when you trying to over play another section) yea I’m late so what but that L is in the history books lol
Nccu had the better section. Better overall, solos technicality song selection maturity and RESPECT. Sau has alot of potential but they need to mature and learn some respect. And 98% of the solos they played were a repeat of what they played in the gym. NCCU takes the W in my book.
Jaron Bivians nah bro. i mean ok their tuning of snares may not be the most appealing but you gotta respect those guys, they can really play.. check out their video from this event
Jaron Bivians I feel you bro. a lot people dislike their tuning as a whole. but the one thing people cant knock is their material.. the one thing about their tuning tho is that the can be heard from across the field rather clearly. some of the really high pitched tuning you have to struggle to hear. thats just my take on it.
Klay Hunter not even we jus pulled them out their comfort zone is all.. forcing them to try and play out is all.. they coulda did the same it wudnt have mattered. .
Can you really blame sau It seems like they were just trying to get a battle started in my opinion I feel like nccu just was not playing battle ready fanfares and I guess sau didn't feel like sitting while they play them to death
NCCU got the W, St AUG had great material BUT they were missing notes and popping tones all over the place, NCCU had better tone quality coming from a FAMU grad
And when they were clean it was easy cuz it was only one person playing the par. Clearly nccu had them on musicality. Sac had good arrangements. Really good. Just need some work on clean tones
I know these cats wasn't about to fight over a tuba battle at the end. It was a great battle, just let it be that! Musicality is all it's about. Don't become "RUclips famous" for the wrong reason. (Gettin yo ass whooped with a tuba bell and a mouthpiece!)...I appreciate the guys that spoke their peace and said that they respect what each other do.
Both great lines but I give it to st aug yes notes here an there were a lil sloppy but for creativity I give it to em an the other line I enjoyed drunken love and happy but thats stuff I can learn within an hour or two of repeatedly listening to it and then teach the middle school kids I help be a lil mo creative an have respect that cranking over each other crap just ignorant to me an it sounds like a big ass mess
because we actually have WAY more fanfares but it wasn't even worth it to waste on them because they played the same thing as well..plus they weren't even battle ready but it was pointless in the end.. everyone wants to see an up close battle anyways
Jaron Bivians I'm going to take a random guess and say you pay for SAU? And to be completely honest, an unbiased opinion NCCU took the win. They sounded better, had more control w/ and w/o power, they had better musicianship. It's not about being loud and powerful all the time. And to pay the same fanfare 4 times outside after you played it 2-3 times inside shows that your fanfare book isn't that big. And that's coming from a former ocean of soul member
Myles Daniels I do play for them yes but why would we use our whole book when the opponent only play one fanfare that wasn't part of the first battle lol but before wanna judge our book look us up and see what we about cus you definitely don't know what you talking about.. Plus we are in a different division so of course we are going to play songs that are to the point..honestly this battle doesn't show anything but tubas having fun so Idky were having this discussion
+Jaron Bivians i bet you wont bring yo sorry line up here and block up tho. Point blank end of story. If we so sorry your line must be better. If not you and all your comments about us are irrelevent. Stay in your lane bruh or block up. Simple
chronic chronic if you can play the same things please do record it and make your own video I know high school students that will out play u if u think u can do the same strap up and let's see what you got SAU might throw you a scholarship
Rickey Battle Only If I Had A Tuba I'll Demolish All Them Lil Simply Fanfares Yall Played...If You Can Find A HIGH SCHOOL Tuba Player To Shut Me Dwn/Out Play Me Dha World Gne Freeze Over And Explode. I'm Rare Buddy In Case You Ain't Know.
Good job to both sections. However aug got that ass handed to them nicely. It bothers me when I see fellow tuba players splatting in there horns and they think it sounds good. There are a few things aug should do different. Add a little adversity in there sound, make great use of a tuner and listen to the guy next to you. Nccu sounded awesome. Very round sound and in tune as well. I think after years of my school cuttin that ass vsu lol they got it together. (Had to put that in there lol). Advise for nccu continue to keep that sound round but it's ok to grab your nuts and blow hard with control every once in a while. Advise for aug pedal tones stop splatting and articulate a bit more and round your sound more and y'all might be something to mess with. But good job again.
everyone has there own style tho you can't get mad because you think sacking and accents are ugly lol plus VSU (horse power) is dead so y'all are out the picture which will be proven next season…and bringing niggas back don't count haha but yes NCCU did have good tone but it was simple ass high school arrangements at least step it up
Damn, I remember watching this 7 years ago… inspired me to pick up the sousaphone and now I’m a senior at Southern University in the human jukebox.
Makes me wanna just take a band class
@@johnhernandez2661 you should
OMGOSH when they played Happy!!!! Love it
8:45 They must have gotten impatient. Very rude and disrespectful
For two smaller/less well known/less popular schools this is pretty damn fun to listen too. I wasn't expecting anything this cool.

MAN THIS IS GREAT BRUH!!!!! I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE THAT NIGHT MAN. NCCU AND ST.AUG WERE BOTH KILLING! HBCU LOVE! NOW THATS A BATTLE!
The tuba line that feels they have something to prove behaves the way SAC did. They have great arrangements but easy to keep clean when only 6 players. Their specialty is being loud and they are a beast for 6 dudes. But volume is only one dimensional. It sounded beautiful..I loved it
Honestly NCCU took that they had a beautiful sound I take quality over quantity any day especially in a tuba section. Oh... Not to mention how down right disrespectful and childish it was of SAU to interrupt in mid fanfare.
NCCU soloist had a very beautiful tone.
Yo, that intro beat tho.... HOT!!!!
Oh yeah, that Happy was ridin hard.
NCCU Won this is from a TnSU Tuba Grad. I like there tone, and I hate when another section try to play over another section. Take turns.
but tnsu played over jsu in the tuba battle and tnsu still won
in my opinion sau had this, their fanfares are difficult and theyre played it with great tone. nccu has great tone but that is expected when you play soft or you have soft fanfare. but yall are an inspiration to sousaphone players everywhere so keep it up!
Aug made themselves look ignorant, and unprofessional. It's obvious NCCU had the musicality, and cleanliness (what actually matters). Overall a great battle.
anyone know what the piece that NCCU played at 12:50 ?
tryna find out the same thing
Dakota L it's called Welcome home
Anyone know the name to all the songs ?
Great job by both sections, but NCCU got this one. And this is coming from an AGGIE so you KNOW it took a lot for me to say that (lol). Good job
much respect aggie lol
NCCU took this W, professionalisms, tone quality, articulations, phrasing, Dynamics all played a part in their playing not to mention song selection. And nccu soloist were amazing
Nccu played the same stuff from the gym too
What one or 2 compared to st Aug playing only one or 2 new ones. Ok
+Myles Daniels sounded good and well balanced too
Does anyone know the fanfare at 1:15? And does anyone have a arrangement for it?
man that Happy sounds great!!
How u leave out da bass line on da TUBA NCCU?!?!?! Dat Happy Woulda been even betta!!!
U know u digger it tho lol
justjay07 yea dat is my joint tho lol!
13:53 Lol that's wat bron said after the finals
Its clear that SAU is the better section.
wat song is that theme at the very beginning of the video
Whats the song at 15:25
but when i heard DOA run that warm-up in the background...i damn near jizzed my pants lmao
DOA is some shit too with them trach can sounding snare drums lmao
Jaron Bivians nah bro. i mean ok their tuning of snares may not be the most appealing but you gotta respect those guys, they can really play.. check out their video from this event
your right i just hate those snare drums lol samhapf
Jaron Bivians I feel you bro. a lot people dislike their tuning as a whole. but the one thing people cant knock is their material.. the one thing about their tuning tho is that the can be heard from across the field rather clearly. some of the really high pitched tuning you have to struggle to hear. thats just my take on it.
SAU was louder but i think NCCU sounded better so they get the dub from me.
What is the song called @ 7:53
its called anywhere
+isaiah by 112
where is the respect?
They must feel played or something. They both did their thing.
Klay Hunter not even we jus pulled them out their comfort zone is all.. forcing them to try and play out is all.. they coulda did the same it wudnt have mattered. .
Lol at the end
Can you really blame sau It seems like they were just trying to get a battle started in my opinion I feel like nccu just was not playing battle ready fanfares and I guess sau didn't feel like sitting while they play them to death

omg i so love the diversity
No reason for the interruption
both of the tuba sections sound really good mabey calm down on that bell sound though
SAU is very DISRESPECTFUL! I never really heard of them until last year. They section leader needs to grow up.
Ralphie Gaming blue and white
this is what goes on in battle they go for blood not caring about feelings or anything.... that's why they call it a BATTLE
mto top
I call it a tie.
I know these cats wasn't about to fight over a tuba battle at the end. It was a great battle, just let it be that! Musicality is all it's about. Don't become "RUclips famous" for the wrong reason. its wasn't a fight. trust me. we talked and bumped afterwards. Its was all #respect
nccu Please!!!! leave anywhere to Low-down 2008 thank very much
Patrick Neal What year did you march ?
Shout to the AUG on that one the made NCCU get their Alumna to help them play SAD........ BOTH SCHOOL DID GREAT
Stephanie Tucker there were no alumni 😐
Rickey Battle ughh yes they did
Stephanie Tucker I go to the NCCU and play I can name everyone in that video
😂😂😂this still going on
Who cares about getting alumni? Both colleges could’ve done it, equal opportunities from both
I Love marching band
st aug got the W during the gym battle but nccu got the W in this video. much respect to both though. texas southern tuba alumni
You can hear my drumline in the background at 3:40 4:57 and 6:13 lol
SAU good shit
Somebody's drumline is playing a horrible version of Egypt in the background at 3:42 . but SAU won
You heard that too!!! Lol. Sometimes you just gotta let Egypt be what it is
Is this what sousaphone battles have come to?? 😴😴😴😴
What Are You Trying To Say? I Hope Your Not Stuck In The Old Days?
Hey!!! That's How It Goes Down!!! I Can Dig It!!! It Was No Referee's!!!
i didnt know lebron james played tuba for nccu
Both great lines but I give it to st aug yes notes here an there were a lil sloppy but for creativity I give it to em an the other line I enjoyed drunken love and happy but thats stuff I can learn within an hour or two of repeatedly listening to it and then teach the middle school kids I help be a lil mo creative an have respect that cranking over each other crap just ignorant to me an it sounds like a big ass mess
Well St. Aug was the one that played over NCCU tbh so yea
North Shore Senior High Houston Texas
So why Sau feel the need to even battle again, they basically played the same shit they played inside, this battle was pointless. .
because we actually have WAY more fanfares but it wasn't even worth it to waste on them because they played the same thing as well..plus they weren't even battle ready but it was pointless in the end.. everyone wants to see an up close battle anyways
Lol exactly bruh pointless at the end waste of breathe and film.
