My therapist (M50) just hit on me (F30) . I'm so shaken because he was the only one I opened up in years. Now I regret that, I don't think that I can have therapy again. I'm feeling abused and manipulated. He's very well aware that I'm not able to set boundaries. I'm feeling betrayed.
Did it happen because I have BPD and looked helpless to him?
My friend is blaming me for not setting boundaries with him before. I bought a little pot of flowers for his birthday, also to thank him for delaying my payments (which I didn't ask for, he wanted to continue when I lost my job).
it's so stupid that I got traumatized by my therapist 😢

Sorry to hear that, he's out of order and shouldn't have done that. It's not your fault- buying a gift is not an excuse for him to hit on you!
Hope you get the help you need x

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened. This is absolutely not your fault. Therapists are very strongly trained to never cross these boundaries, and what he did is entirely unprofessional and unethical.
Please don't blame yourself. Having BPD or any other condition does not make this your fault in any way. You go to therapy to find support, and you deserve to feel safe and respected there.
I strongly urge you to report this therapist to the appropriate licensing board or regulatory body. It’s possible that he could be a repeat offender, and reporting him could protect others from experiencing the same harm, especially younger, more vulnerable clients.
Your bravery in speaking out is so important. I hope you find the support you need and deserve.

Please, please don't ask the client what they think about it! Former therapist/current client here.
