Great consultation by the umpires, also great handling of the manager that was upset - just let him vent, but just tell him what the consultation was about and how multiple umpires saw it on the ground, but 2B was behind the runner and couldn't see it. Love it. Get the play right is the most important thing.
The way the umps got together to make sure they got the call right was certainly impressive. Even more impressive is how the runner for Virginia who got thrown out didn't argue one single bit with the ump - he's both well coached and well behaved. He simply told the ump he thought the ball was on the ground.
That teamwork is beyond superb. 1b tells the rabbit what happened but let's him decide to get together, Instead of rushing through the reversal, discussing what happens next on who handles the ensuing argument, and then heading straight to the earful of the opposing coach. The umpires checked their egos, let the manager protest the call for posture and then continued the game. This is textbook. I'm sure next tag at 2b in the dirt we hear, "show me the ball"
It's not surprisinf that he does. While they definitely did get the call right, he has a valid argument that if they saw a replay on the Scoreboard and over ruled, that violated the rules. I don't think they did, but in levels like NFHS or MiLB, they don't show replays on the big screen because they don't want and are not allowed to use replay in their games. Definitely a problem that has been improved by adding replay to officiating
@@Subangelis they got together and made that right call. If that jackass saw the play on the screen the same way we all saw the replay, he should have shut his mouth and walk back to the dugout. Who cares or assumes how they came to the decision. I didn't see that. I saw the other Umpire telling his crew mate what he saw.
100% textbook. Manager can be frustrated, good job letting him air it out so everyone can move on. Barely even a moderate “argument”. I mean, this is how it’s supposed to be in getting the call right and with the utmost professionalism to each other and the Coach.
Not sure why the umpire didn’t ask for the fielder to show him the ball it was obvious that he was blocked out as to whether the ball was held in the tag or not in all my years of umpiring when I look at something like that and see that it appears the tag was implied but I’m not 100% sure whether or not he’s got the ball I always ask to see the ball and if he can’t show it to me right away in his glove that I know pretty much it’s on the ground great job for them consulting but it could’ve been avoided by a little bit of preventive umpiring by the base umpire
Call wasn't overturned, it was changed when additional information was presented to the calling umpire. He then changed his call with the new information.
If "everybody looked up there" that means you were watching everybody and not looking up there which contradicts your statement that "everybody looked up there"
It's the CWS, he isn't arfuing balls / strikes nor is it a video review. When a crew gets together to let cosch vent and he did it in a respectful manner- what harm is done.

Good to see. Many times umps don’t like to overrule a call. The manager complaining when he knows they got the call correct is ridiculous.

One of the greatest crew consultations I’ve ever witnessed
Must see viewing for umpires working any level of baseball. BVR on the the best in College Baseball today.
Great job by the crew. The coach was absolutely clueless. They got the call right.
He's arguing they saw the replay on the stadium screen and reversed the call, which was wrong.

@@jamesrivera6068How they made a decision is important. Replay didn’t exist at this point, but looking at the video to change the call would be wrong.
That's why you always find the ball before you make the call. Lesson learned.
Great job by the team; rough to get screened out like that. Great advertisement for 3/4-man crews.

Excellent crew consultation. Unfortunately, coach still tried to get away with one instead of going (yeah, I know, good call).
Coach wants to cheat like his player.
Perfect throw from catcher.
What about the obstruction part of the play? The fielder was clearly blocking the entire base without the ball. Am I missing something there?
Yeah I was thinking the same thing.

You are correct. Point at the play showing you've got it, say show me the ball, call the play.
I bet he will in the future
I wish they would do this for the MLB. Don’t really care if it slows it down. I rather see more calls be correct.
I believe there's a difference between "overturning the call" and changing the call.
Call wasn't overturned, it was changed when additional information was presented to the calling umpire. He then changed his call with the new information.
Best part is the coach not giving in. Looking for the next call no matter what 😅
If "everybody looked up there" that means you were watching everybody and not looking up there which contradicts your statement that "everybody looked up there"
Why did they even let him come out to argue the over-rule??.....
WTF???
Sometimes, when we screw up, we have to give the coach a little more leeway. Although, I think we are much tighter on it now than we were then.
It's the CWS, he isn't arfuing balls / strikes nor is it a video review. When a crew gets together to let cosch vent and he did it in a respectful manner- what harm is done.
Slow down, guys. Even the best umpires need to be slow, information can present itself late if you go too fast.
Coach kind of questioning the integrity of the crew at the end there....
All that cussing for nothing. Foolish! Umpires did the right thing.
Always wait to find the ball before signaling “out” on that kind of play. This was avoidable.
audio warning please? wtf
