In today's video, we discuss a popular dragon ball fan theory that saiyans and humans were the same original species. At some point, the humans branched out and evolved their own way. Dragon Ball Super brought up an interesting piece of this theory with the introduction of Planet Sadala.

It should be noted that the Supreme Kais have an immense effect on the evolution of the races in Dragonball. They cultivate planets so that they have the potential for habitable life, so they could have set similar conditions in a planets life cycle that led to recurrent evolution, which could be why there are so many bipedal humanoid aliens in Dragonball.
Ive always been more curious of like the freiza force men that are clearly human by design but are heavily implied to be aliens recoome being the perfect example of this he whooped vegeta who at that point couldve mopped any human from earth
@@SuperMelphis There's another alien who looks distinctly human called Daiz from the Crusher Corp who is Kabochan iirc. He and Recoome both have prominent foreheads with no eyebrows so I have it in my head that they are from the same planet or system.

Mmmm, perhaps the kai of time meddled a bit due to create a situation for a new species of heroes and guardians of the universe to rise. Specifically, the saiyan/human hybrids. Like in Dragon Ball Online, which is canon, and in which all humans are descended from both Goku and Vegeta.
Better theory, humans conquered planet plant using their ancient pyramid shaped space ships and interbreed with the local (oddly shaped) population causing the rapid development of what would eventually become the saiyan race. The planet was then conquered again by frieza's great grandpappy and all but those with human dna were eliminated and/or eaten by Bardock.
So are you basically saying humans are tuffles?

My personal head canon is that the original Sayians were actually Tuffles who were subjected to a Super Soldier program. This program made them bigger, stronger, more durable, and able to transform when exposed to Blutz waves.
The program's drawback was that the combat training they were subjected to en utero (think of clone troopers from Star Wars) erased what made them civilized, and over time, diminished their ability to follow orders from their Tuffle leadership.
But the Saiyans are originally from planet Sadala, where the Tuffles have never been

I do like your theory of them being engineered, but perhaps not by the Tuffles but by some unknown humanoid race, possibly to fend off an outer world attacker, or at war between themselves, or to conquer other planets (Saiyans are quite good at this). Maybe they couldn't control their creations anymore at some point, then the Saiyans destroyed the planet (Sadara) and took their creator's spaceships to find a new home.
So do Viltrumites, Kryptonians and Otsutsuki also share a common ancestor with humans?
On a somewhat related note, the GT perfect files suggest that the Saiyans were originally just oozaru who gained intelligence and took on a humanoid form.
I heard once a theory that explained that saiyans can't really evolve, which is why they're hair pretty much stays the same, amd why their aging is all wonky. Going from that, I'd propose a theory that in a different planet earth, the soviet experiment of human/ape cross breeding kinda worked, eating to other countries trying to do something similar. We ended up being able to create saiyans. Then at some point after we lost control of our own weapons, they destroyed everything, a scientist placed two human kids in a ship and sent them to a different planet (Adam and eve), the saiyans renamed their planet to Sadala, and the children that arrived on the new planet ended up calling that planet earth. Something like that. Would be cool if kakarot's ancient ancestors were the original monarchs, then got taken over by the vegeta clan at some point, and tried to keep the kakarot clan suppressed by calling them low class. Amd the reason why hybrids are so strong, is because humans can actually evolve, unlike saiyans. So if you mix our ability to evolve, with the saiyan cells, you get insanely powerful evolved saiyan cells. Something like that.
my theory is that humans actually did indeed evolve from saiyans because when we consider saiyans had enough technology for space travel and the fact that they were under the rule of king cold, some saiyans might've escaped to other planets and may have either died from the planet's atomsphere, hostile beings or got hunted down there and some came to earth and survived so they started to live on earth peacefully without training and enhancing their primitive skills, that also can prove why humans are weaker than saiyans but much smarter than saiyans because a certain group of them managed to flee the primitive planet maybe a few years/decades after king cold took over the planet. and they probably didnt contact the rest of the race was to not get caught and killed afterwards

I’d just go with the supreme kais make all living beings in the Dragon Ball universe (sans artificially created ones ) they particularly the ones of universe 7&6 seem to be kinda lazy at their job. So they probably just used the same basic template for everything since vegitas brother was able to breed with his marshmallow humanoid looking wife.

I personally believe that the tuffles did do some form of space travel, came to earth, found some caveman bones and monkey bones (anybody remember that game?), and revived some cave people from those bones and spliced it with primate DNA. It came out a success, but the Saiyans were too blood thirsty and savage for the tuffles to be around, so they said "Hey, stay over there and leave us alone" That obviously worked...not for long, lol.
That makes sense, my Idea was that there was an ancient humanoid or possibly still ape-like space empire that ruled the stars before King Cold's lineage or even the galactic patrol. The diaspora of these people after this great empire fell lead to divergent evolution which is why so many alien species are just humanoids with wacky vibrant skin tones, or weird features like horns or monkey tails.

Ligers are actually amongst the list of hybrids that are fertile, but you'd be right about Mules. There are various hybrids who are fertile as well, but it's just that more are generally not. Should be worth noting that there are a lot of cases where the born offspring can't survive for long, though.
Not all hybrids are infertile though even on earth. it's just that the example with Ligers and Mules that their parent species had just enough genetic drift to be able to breed one generation.
Also, it seems like humans can reach saiyan levels without transformations. Look at Krillin. It seems as if saiyan are the ancestors of humans. Monkeys/gorillas, then saiyans, and lastly, humans. Especially since they can transform into our ancestors.

It could very well be that Saiyan's came here a long as time ago and the environment just changed them over time. I believe that if you're on a planet long enough it will affect your body especially over generations.
Given that planet vegeta had 10 times the gravity of earth I could see a loss of muscle mass and bone density over the course of many generations spent on such a comparatively low gravity world, so a fairly believable theory.
Maybe its as simple as. Truffles are original saiyan ancestor. Saiyans began to evolve among truffles existing. Wiping them out and becoming the evolved race. Truffles also spread and populated earth. Divering into humans. And Saiyan branches. Would explain human weakness overall.

That's highly possible.
Considering the DB living universe might be infinite in size, and assuming the laws of physics are the same throughout, it's not unreasonable to think that Saiyans are just convergent enough to humans to interbreed with them.
It's also a scifi/fantasy series, so. They probably can have kids for the same reasons crossbred characters exist in shows like Star-Trek and Star Wars.
I'm not sure if this theory makes any sense in modern dragonball, but I saw it somewhere back in the day. Basically it goes that the Kai's were attempting to make a powerful race, maybe a race that was supposed to protect their universe from threats? Whatever the reason, they poured everything they had into this race, attempting to give them potential that matched even the gods. However, something went wrong in the creation process leading to the creation of a weak race. Low power level, low potential, basically a failure. This caused them to cast this race off and try again, reusing the same blueprints. This eventually lead to the eventual creation of the saiyans, and as both humans and saiyans are built from similar stuff, they can interbreed with each other.
One reason I'm not sure this would hold up is because the Kai's would've had to abandon them at some point. Maybe the saiyans were becoming bloodthirsty and the Kai's deemed them a failure, or maybe Majin Buu killing all of the Kai's caused the saiyans to become unintentionally abandoned, leaving them to fend for themselves.
If we taking DBS point of view, that's told that Kami of Vegeta cursed Saiyans, maybe Kais did that too? But... This theory makes no sense for DBZ. As we saw in Buu arc Kaioshin was really surprised that mortals could be so powerful as Goku, Vegeta and Gohan... If there was creation thing, then Kaioshin should know all of that, even Elder kai never told anything about it
Yea true, I never thought about Elder Kai. It could make sense for Shin as we've seen him not know of things in the past. Also I'm not sure how universe 6 saiyans would fit into this theory. I think the only way it could work is if saiyans originally came from another universe and settled within universe 6 and 7, or universe 6 and 7 were originally 1 universe that split into two, leading to the deaths of the original universe's kais.
Id like the dragon balls used to make the humans evolve and give humans powers. This would open up more law and would give the Z fighter's purpose like training people ect. There abities could be similar to the Xmen . Random x genes with random powers.
Hell yeah, my two favorite subjects: evolutionary biology and Dragon Ball. I have thought about this before. I think it’s very much possible for saiyans to have come to earth and evolve into peaceful humans. However, I think there’s a much simpler answer.
What most likely happened is that the Saiyans and Humans are an example of convergent evolution. That is, they are two separate species that evolved apart from each other but due to similar environmental constraints and conditions, they evolved similar traits and fulfill similar niches. The saiyans’ environment likely selected for stronger individuals and those who could turn into oozarus, whereas humans didn’t have those same factors in their evolutionary pathway.
Also, if they were branched from a singular clade (group of species that share a recent common ancestor) there would be at least a couple instances of atavisms. Atavisms are essentially the reappearance of traits from ancestors. For example, some real life humans are born with vestigial tails, which is an atavism from our ancestors that did have tails. As far as we know, no humans have exhibited saiyan like traits in the DB universe (tails, oozaru forms, zenkai boosts, etc.). That’s not to say that completely erases the possibility, as atavisms are usually a genetic mistake during gestation, but it would be further proof.
It does, however, pose an interesting dilemma with the beast-folk of the DB universe. Are they separate species? Are they mutant variant humans? Are they living examples of atavisms? If so, and the saiyans are linked to humans, why don’t saiyans come in beast forms like that( (inb4 Gohan Beast jokes)?
Either way, they all share a common ancestor at some point, but how far back is a mystery.

And to add to that, cladistically speaking, humans are still both apes AND monkeys to this very day, because species never outgrow their ancestry no matter how different they become from their ancestors. Which means that Humans would be just as much of primates as Saiyans are.
@@EDPDBZ89 Exactly! It all depends on how specific/non-specific you want to get with cladistics. Some would even go further and expand their criteria for a clade to include an even broader swathe of species. I’ve seen people place humans into even larger clades with ALL synapsids and therapsids versus a clade with ALL diapsids and anapsids. Expanding that definition in the context of Dragon Ball would be pretty messy though lmao
I also noticed that Saiyans, humans, and other Humanoid aliens like Freize’s men some of them were humanoid Reccon is also a Humanoid alien. That looks exactly like a human, but has superhuman strength and speed and an invulnerable body.
And during the filler arc when Gohan, Bulma ,and Krillen went to Namek, they met a bunch of children that were humanoid they looked exactly like humans.
Also, the god of destruction from universe 2 Heles looks like Cleopatra, and is probably human or humanoid alien.
There’s also the Angels, even though they have blue skin and white hair they are technique humanoid.
So obviously, there’s a lot of humanoid DNA going around, meaning each of their ancestors evolved from apes just technically all living things come from the beginning of the universe. So certain aliens will have similar DNA just live in a different environment. That’s mostly a theory.
Lots of sci-fi stories use a "distant origin" premise for the origin of humans. All it would take is a group of Saiyans getting stranded on Earth in the distant past and over many generations they became humans. This could explain not only why Saiyan/Human hybrids are possible in the first place, but why they are stronger than either group. They're essentially the combination of the best from both evolutionary pathways.
Correction humans devolved from Saiyans
Except that hybrids between two close-but-distinct species (such as ligers and mules, to borrow your examples) are infertile. However Gohan (the first Human-Saiyan "Hybrid") was able to have a daughter with Videl, a 100% human woman. This means that Humans and Saiyans must be the same species with different genetic traits that either activate or don't.
Biologically for this to work humans and sayians must belong to the same species or family. Sayians could be a subspecies of that same species and human another sub species. Or even different species as long as they are very interconnected and in the same family.
Or Sayians are just magical beings so they can breed with whomever they want.

@@jruler93judging from the fact that a ton of human like alien races are in dragonball, my theory is that they are all just subspecies of the original “species”, because their traits have diverged enough, and their skeletons are almost identical
This goes even further, they HAVE to be the same species, because hybrids of 2 species are unable to reproduce, but Gohan has a kid, meaning the genetic similarities are perfect, meaning the main difference is what genes are expressed
So how they could have a tail? And monkey form? That's pretty big difference.
@@alexzero3736 have you ever heard of the term gene expression? Wolves and Chihuahuas look nothing alike, but they're still the same species. There's even accounts of humans born with tails because a certain gene was expressed when they normally are not, infact every human has the genetic to have a tail, but they still aren't born with them.
The fact that they can produce fertile offspring is enough to determine how closely related they are. They're different subspecies obviously, but they have to have the same number of chromosomes, and each chromosome has to be the right pair and activate the right traits.

Personally, I think it's most likely that good saiyans fled from Sadala millennia before the rise of the first super saiyan. And they weakened themselves intentionally on Earth to hide their energy, perhaps even with the help of the kai (who seem to have quite the interest in and awareness of Earth). Their competitive spirit remained and ensured that they would compete for dominance and survival, but now had to rely on their minds and wits much more than their bodies and ki. In fact, humans in DBZ who have learned to access their ki seem to be every bit as talented at fighting and ki manipulation as saiyans are. They just lack the rate of growth and raw strength. Though, as Master Roshi showed, potentially can bridge that gap with sheer control of it.
This would also tie nicely into the background of the super saiyan god. As it would give a much more satisfactory explanation for why the Heroic Saiyans were so easily defeated by the Evil Saiyans: all the people that would have supported them had long left the planet behind and so weren't around to help. And them leaving would even have resulted in the much more brutal branch of saiyans breeding much more.
So that means Gohan, Trunks, Goten, Pan are all full blooded Saiyan's then now that I think about it I always wondered what made Gohan so strong after this video I got a clear understanding on how the humans evolved from the Saiyan's I always use to think... Saiyan's look like humans so there definitely has to be some similarities to the humans and Saiyan's
True as that could be, it's been displayed time and time again that emotions are a large part of a Saiyan's natural strength. Goku is the prime example of course. Yes, he may have been weaker than Raditz in their fight, but this was partially proven to be a result of the Earth's low gravity. After training in 10x gravity, he was able to go toe to toe with Vegeta and destroyed Nappa, both of which were elites without being the same type of product of environment. He gained a lot of human-like characteristics throughout his life, which ended up culminating in his SSJ transformation on Namek as well. This is something that took Vegeta far more trouble to achieve.
Human hybrids, such as Gohan, have a natural pool of emotions that far exceed what your typical Saiyan would have. Future Trunks was "struggling to unlock SSJ", but really he just wasn't trained quite enough to hold that kind of power yet. He still unlocked it at his first major breakdown soon after. You can also interpret Gohan having more immediate potential than Future Trunks to be due to their fathers' mentalities upon them being born, but that wouldn't really explain Trunks compared to Goten in the present timeline. In fact, present Trunks is something I need to look into more. I don't get how he got SSJ as easily as Goten despite Vegeta obtaining SSJ after his birth? Maybe he was on the brink of unlocking it in this tl but Idk, could use some insight on that one.
@@_WiZ420 trunks is at least 1 year older than goten, if they both reached ssj at the same time then trunks was older when he did it.
But really get both lacked training, experience, and motivation so it was mostly up to chance
@@YounesLayachi That’s what I mean though. During the time of Trunks’ conception, I don’t recall present Vegeta having SSJ yet. It doesn’t make sense for him to obtain it so early with the S Cell explanation, unless there is something very important that I’m missing. One year wouldn’t make that big of a difference there, and it couldn’t have been Vegeta training him either. He was surprised to see Trunks with the form at his age.

I call saiyans Homo Oozaru because they basically more hardy Homo and somehow a missing link at least evolutionarily. Saiyan had scientists and doctors too so there’s no noticeable gap in intelligence the gaps are in physical capabilities. Saiyans are literally just humans with more survivability.
So I guess in Universe 6 the humans took the primal features with them?

In dragon Ball super episode 31 when Bulma goes with Jaco to Zuno, Vegeta says " i still like her"
Goku says back " i still love Chi-Chi too" and after Vegeta said that it's in Saiyans ' blood that's why they are ( their wives) strong.
Hey this may be asking a lot, but can you do a video showing the profit generated from dragon ball material over the past few years? It's hard to believe that Dragon ball isn't as profitable as they make it seem.
I think branced out is more likely since the only survival benefit the humans have over the Saiyans is being more peaceful... that's it.
And even then it's not like the Saiyans seemed to be wiping each other out any more than the humans.
🤔 so if they did evolve from Saiyans, they gained nothing... or thr Saiyan just caught up... but if catching up put them at an equal and arguably better situation for survival and advancement...

Diplomacy Marshall arts and earth has lower gravity and is a typically small planet in dB so saiyans fighting at full power would just destroy it it makes sense that they would evolve into weeker smaller animals

@Vegeta Black potato I was thinking intelligence at first... but we don't see the saiayns before Freeza's family showed up, so it's a little hard to determine if the hunans are actually smarter and by how much.
🤔 I suppose diplomacy works since they Saiyans wiped out the truffles in Z. But Humans never had to deal with another alien race 🤔 sure there's Piccolo & Buu, but not a whole civilization, so who knows how they'd respond.

I always though Saiyans simply evolved from great apes (humans IRL are classified as great apes but I’m referring to the Oozaru here). So my headcanon theory is that Saiyans were originally Oozaru but they were able to suppress their power by evolving into a form similar to modern humans, ironically being akin to Frieza in that his final form is his true/original form. Same with the Saiyans.
I have a theory he’s a third trunks from another timeline and that the green rings are the different timelines 1st is the future trunks timeline 2nd is the one we’re cell kills trunks 3rd is the new trunks and 4th is the black goku we’re he goes back in time to kill goku and Creat the new trunks timeline

Humanity's connection to Super Saiyans in the entire Dragon Ball franchise....
I have a hypothesis on how human beings evolved from Saiyans. Humans evolved technologically. Humans devolved power wise. However, humans are descended from Saiyans. Legendary Super Saiyans, to be specific.
I think that humans in the DBZ/Super/GT universe are descended from a lost tribe/colony of Legendary Super Saiyans who colonized Earth in the distant past. Somehow, this tribe/colony decided to stay on Earth or were marooned with no way of coming back to Primordial Planet Sadala.
And as time went on, the descendants of these Legendary Super Saiyans lost touch with their Saiyan culture and traditions.
However, humans kept the warrior tribal nature of the Saiyans, and over time, moved from being a physically based warrior species to a technologically based warrior species.
And take into account that Planet Earth's atmosphere and gravity are substantially different from the atmosphere and gravity of Primordial Planet Sadala that the Legendary Super Saiyans came from. These changes led to gradual physical humanoid changes on Earth.
However, the reproductive qualities of Saiyans and humans remained intact. That explains how Chi-Chi, Bulma, Videl, and Mai can be sexually and reproductively compatible with Saiyans.
Humans could be Tuffle survivors who simply lacked the numbers to sustain an advanced society and so had to more or less start over, which the story of where they came from intentionally being destroyed to prevent their descendants from seeking out the saiyans or Plant out of the very reasonable fear of leading the saiyans to Earth. The technology seems to be very similar and what we saw of their cities seem to be basically the same as ours. It would also be very fitting for such a relationship between saiyans and humans and would also give closer to their war through Goku, Vegeta, and their descendants.

That got me thinking, the tuffles and saiyans were battling and maybe humans are tuffles that escaped from the planet to earth. That is if we go with this theory that there would be anyway the species that came to earth was a relative to saiyans.
more likely is that there is an ape type species in the universe thats genes were spread out since there are more than just earthlings and saiyans in the universe.

Saiyans living on another planet before moving to Plant/Vegeta wasn't invented for Dragon Ball Super. Although non-canon, this piece of lore was already given in Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans.
Given the difference between their physical attributes I'm not sure that's how evolution works. Sure they could have lost their tails along the way but, that doesn't explain how their strength was taken down to a quarter of what the Planet Vegeta Saiyans were. A full grown human is weaker than most Saiyan toddlers.

If they are the same race but in different environment / planet / gravity then how come that Saiyans later on or early on the serie are able to transform?
In planet Vegeta/Sadala/ Plant, None of the Saiyans were able to transform into a Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan is a rage transformation not an ape transformation so the humans should have access to it and early on the series , the first Super Saiyan God transformation , how Yamoshi or whatever his name achieved SSG if the SSJ is believed to be once every thousand years?
I;m far more in the school of some sort of convergent evolution, more likely that the Kai created a common ancestor and wanted to observe evolution, the ancestors on earth may have had an easier time with lower gravity and more fertile lands, becoming smarter to survive rather then stronger. sadala was likely similar to planet plant, having high gravity and possibly having higher risks in it's enviroment leading to the saiyans becoming somewhat more primitive but a lot stronger.
it just doesn't make sense to lose all the benefits of being a saiyan when there's nothing special about humans in dragonball, evolution/natural selection tends to favour things that benefit the species and only loses things that will pretty much never be needed
