Dear Joel, this is like a parent watching their first child leaving home. Sad but all the joy for the future. Sending a hug from an American grandmother who has known the same sadness and joy
A life without change and risk is not living to the fullest. There's absolutely nothing wrong with staying in your comfort zone, but then you have to deal with regret over missed opportunities.
You're going to be so happy you made this choice, Joel. Being with Keegan makes you so happy, and though it may make you sad the day you moved, sharing your life with Keegan all the time is worth the sacrifice.
Absolutely, glad Joel got all the negative emotions out before he arrived. This is a positive move for Joel and he will be happier than ever and so will Keegan. It's always nice to have someone to come home to who is glad to see you.
I know this is strange, because I've never met either of you and likely never will, but I'm so excited for you gents. You seem like lovely guys and it's just so nice to see good people getting their happy ever after. Even despite how far we've come, there's still not all that many positive representations of gay couples in our media (whether traditional media or new) and it makes the heart of this gay man feel so proud to see you and Keegan so comfortable in your own skin, so Out and proud and doing your thing. Continued best wishes to you both...and the dogs, of course. x
Yes, when the last day finally arrives, you can't help but feel those feelings of sadness and yet excitement for the next chapter. Ava now has a her buddy Fin to hang with, and you have Keegan. So happy for you Joel! Thanks for taking us along.
Being emotional is a good thing. It shows how great your life has been & deserves that recognition. Experiencing those emotions is healthy. Starting a new chapter is also healthy & emotional, but you have far more time to settle into the excited emotions. Change is always difficult. Ava will love having a full-time brother!!
Being an old man at this point, I feel like I'm reliving my own youth vicariously through Joel. Very happy he has Eva AND Keegan to see him through the transition. We are all with you Joel!
A dramatic change in life can be both emotional and scary but with time each day will get better. You are so blessed to have found someone that loves and adores you. I’m so Happy for You and Keegan.. Wishing you both much Love & Happiness ❤️Always 👨❤️👨
Your tears are a sign of healthy emotions. You’re a human being with a myriad of emotions, never bottle them up or they will eventually turn into resentment. What is also nice is that Keegan will see this video and know how much this move has affected you, good and bad, and that you are doing it for the two of you. Love this video. Lots of love.
I absolutely love the symbolism of it being sunny and rainy as you approached your new house/life. Seems perfectly reflective of your emotions lately. Good luck getting settled in and unpacked. I can't wait to see where this new chapter takes you!
It's completely normal to feel all sorts of emotions right now. We all do it when our world changes. Ava is only worried about her Dad crying. She knew you were upset and she was concerned, that's all. She's a very good girl.
Ah to be human. Well done Joel. Life is full of ups and downs and sometimes the ups are sad as they represent a "door closing" to open a new one. Wishing you and Keegan all the best! *hugs*/
Poor darling, Moving is the second most stressful thing a person goes through. I left my home, family and friends in Los Angeles and moved to Texas. I love my home in Dallas and have no regrets. You have an exciting and lovely life. Enjoy it !! P.S. You’ve got the whole package with Keegan, great looks and personality.
Joel dogs are really tuned into our feelings so if you are upset they will be upset and concerned about you. She is happy as long as she is with you and especially if you are happy. She will love the more rural setting. Sure you will settle in fine. Up north is so welcoming and you will soon make some amazing friends.
I totally understand your feelings. I moved from my hometown, the place I had lived almost my entire life, to a small, rural "Northern" town about a year ago. I spent a couple of weeks in deep mourning, and a few nights of crying myself to sleep. Not because i don't love my new town, I really do, but because I miss the town I grew up in. It was a huge adjustment. It took me awhile, but now I fully embrace my new hometown and new life.
Dear Joel, it’s totally normal to get emotional when making such a big move, even when it’s an exciting move. Don’t feel bad or try to hide what you’re feeling at any given time during this process. It’s a phase that everyone goes through when change is involved, and the best way to get through it is to allow yourself to fully process those emotions. You’ll be fine and everything will fall into place eventually. Just give yourself time to process. Sending you good vibes. 🤗✨
Joel, I totally get the emotions. Whenever I’ve taken huge steps in my life, I’m like this. You just have to focus on the fact that you must take this step to move forward with your relationship and see what the future holds for you two. Not moving wasn’t an option. If things go a different direction five years from now, London is always there for you. This decision is not permanent if you don’t want it to be. Not trying to sound negative, but it’s true. You are taking the plunge for you and Keegan. Your relationship is worth this big move….if things work out or not. Even if by chance you don’t end up together, you still had to make this move to give it a shot. You’ll never look back and wonder “Did I not give it all I had?” Scary risk but well worth it ❤
Joel change is always a pot of emotions..but is good especially for love n the future..remember all things are step by step..its time be brave baby☺👍❣💋
Joel. It's okay! Like I told you, in a past comment vlog. It was very difficult, for me to leave New England (Massachusetts). Emotional, goodbye's, pack, drive and having my mind flooded; "Did I do the right thing." You did! 18 years now Joel. I have never regretted that day. Ever! Hugs! Welcome to you new life! That's what my friend's said, to me. Once I got here.
I think the "unknown" makes us emotional. Happy to see you on a new adventure in your life. (Just catching up with your vids and your life with Keegan.)
I haven't seen a video from you in a while. You're moving! You have Keegan! Such wonderful news. I'm so happy for you and Ava. Congrats! I shouldn't stay away so long.
Ahhh!!! I just want to give you a hug! You know exactly how to bring out my Mommy feels. It's a brave move you're making and I'm so happy for you both. I love the floor in the restaurant!
Joel, we moved nearly two years ago from Suffolk to Staffordshire to be near family. So I understand how you felt. But like us your beginning a new life up North. Your going to have a wonderful life and Yorkshire is not the other side of the world. ❤
Oh Joel, don't be sad! You're a wonderful person and you and Lucy are wonderful and of course you and Keegan are more than wonderful! Ava loves you sooo much too!!❤❤👍
Congratulations on your new start - both of you. Emotions can play havoc, can't they! I imagine Lucy will miss you loads and especially Ava as she has been her mummy since you got her and has looked after her a lot too. That restaurant you went to look fabulous and that chocolate "dirt" to die for! Enjoy settling in your new home, and good luck to you both! X
Aww, it's ok. I know exactly how you feel. Time will heal the sadness and it's perfectly ok to be sad for a while. Just because you may cry a lot for a while, doesn't take away from the excitement that we know you have.
Most of the best life changes are a bit sad but also so exciting. Glad you felt those moments because it is so wonderful that you will miss Lucy so much. It is a testament to your bond. ❤
Joel, your feeling and emotions are completely normal. Moving is one of the more stressful things in life. The only mistake you are making is stressing too much. But that's our Joel. And don't worry about Ava. Her home is not a place; it's wherever you are. She will be happy as long as she is with you.
Btw, Ava is fine, she is sad because she feels sadness in you. Also, to her, "home" is wherever you are.....she will settle in perfectly. Dogs are so much more balanced than us humans !
my husband and I ALWAYS dress similar when going out! Ava is loving this move! Joel, you will be so pleased when the move is adjusted. Best of luck and wishes to the both of you!
Hi Joel. I can totally empathise with you. I moved from Leeds (where I’ve lived all my life) to the Isle of Wight just before Xmas. To join my partner. It’s not been easy and there are days when I’ve wanted to go back up north…but I know in my heart I’ve made the right decision. As have you. A new chapter in your life has started. You will have days when you think you’ve made a mistake, it’s natural. Your life with Keegan will be wonderful.
Lovely video full of emotions, sadness, happiness and all the feelings put into one. You will be fine with Keegan, he looks very loving and kind. New subscriber here x
Oh my gosh Joel this was heartbreaking to watch, however needless to say you are going to have an amazing life in Yorkshire with Keegan, wishing you all the happiness in the world!
Know how you feel, we are moving after 36yrs of living in our home. My mum is upset as she lives 10 mins down the road. We no longer need to live in London now we are retired. You will be fine and moving to a lovely part of the country with the man you love. Normal to be tearful xx
Just watched your eating disorder video and I thank you for sharing. I hope this move is not causing problems for your mental health. Be safe and happy. It's okay to cry. Your friend from Indiana USA
You did it! You made the move, and now you and Keegan (and Ava and Fen) begin your lives together. You have all the good wishes of so many people that I doubt you'll ever be able to use them all up! Just know you (both) are loved, and wished every good thing.
I can't lie ... you cried, then I cried. Moving even under the best of circumstances is always going to be a roller coaster ride with your emotions operating the switch. Just hang on, close your eyes and it will be over before you know it. All the best to you and this new chapter in your book of life and love!
Awe, Joel, this was such a good video. You just made us love you more. I cried so hard when I left to go across country to be with my future husband. I want you to know we just celebrated our 25th and we are happy and in love. You two make a fabulous couple and I am soooo happy for you! Loved this one!! ❤️
I moved from Kentucky to So California for Graduate school. Culture shock. Then I lived in Nor Cal, Tucson, Denver CO, then back to the bay area. Now in my permanent home in the Mojave Desert......I have met the strangest people and they will always be friends
New subscriber. Loved this video. Bless you, for worrying about others. Excited times for you both. And fur baby. Aww, she's so good. Having a washdown. Life is good. You both look so happy. What a lovely evening. Love the twin thing. Cute.
Good luck in your new space...new changes are always difficult but i am sure you will be happy...you and your partner are good guys and be well and safe
Oh Joel...I don't know you at all...found you when I was looking for people's Christmas-y videos...and I feel moved to tell you that we humans HATE change, even good change (which it seems this move is meant to be🤗)...so please give yourself some grace as you continue to navigate this...feelings, even feeling conflicted or sad, are okay! I was glad to see you ended with what seemed to be a special/fancy dinner out to celebrate this new chapter!
Thank you for showing this level of vulnerability Joel. I’ve loved watching you over the last 6 months and now you’re up north (I live in leeds). But I wanted to comment because I fully understand the strange moving emotions. I moved to New Zealand from Leeds in 2017 and fully understand how you’re acting!! Im back in the UK now. Hope you’re settling in nicely x
Very happy for both of you! Also, very jealous of you! Finding someone that is able to "tolerate" you as you are, is amazing (and wanting to share a home with you...). I wish you the very best in love and your lives together!
This is a huge life change and it is scary. Your feelings are so valid. Please look at the happiness you are going to have living with your partner and the amazing life you are going to have. Lucy will always have your back, your friendship will always be there.
I cried too and Im not even moving lol! its ok to feel sad at leaving Joel, but know there's lots of great things for you all in the future. take care of each other guys xx
When I moved away from people I considered were my family, I cried waterfalls of tears. Even though I was excited about the move. Feelings are weird. I know you'll love your new chapter Joel.
I totally understand what you are going through emotionally. As a military brat then as a military member, I went through those emotions every 3 years. I am very happy for you, and yes you made me cry😊
So incredibly happy for you boys. I’ve moved a lot over the years, and I would encourage you to feel all the feelings. You’ll settle into your new home and new routines, all with the love of your life at your side. Enjoy❤🎉😂😊
Once you unpack and have your books and personal items around you’ll start to feel more settled. Just remember it will take time to adjust to your new surroundings. Keep smiling 😊
Joel it’s okay. As long as I’ve been following you and Lia I have always thought that you are very hard on yourself. What you’re feeling is normal. But,However you feel is fine and you can allow it. And please don’t pretend that you’re happy if you’re not. Allow yourself whatever you’re feeling. Don’t get angry but if you want to change your mind you can you don’t owe ANYONE anything but yourself. You always have choices you may not like your choices but you always have them. When I say you may not like your choices I mean it may be hard to do. Be happy Joel and enjoy. And be free be free. Much love!
Joel, you gorgeously soft-hearted little thing! It's only natural with a big change to be a ball of mixed and strong emotions. All will be fine...have you not seen how your eyes sparkle when with Keegan? His do in your presence as well. I love it...I can't get enough of either of you or the darn dogs lol. Best wishes for all in the future...you will adjust just fine. The country will suit you quite well.
Hi Joel! What a week for you! Moving day can be so emotional, especially with a car full of your stuff. When we sold our place in Nova Scotia, I cried for the first several hours of the drive back to NJ. It’s tough to say goodbye, but I hope you find comfort and happiness in all the wonderful things that this new chapter will bring. That celebration dinner looked amazing, by the way. Cheers! 🥂
Ah Joel, what a happy ending to a stressful move. I love to see you and Keegan together. The smiles on both of your faces tell it all! The countryside when you were walking Ava and Fin really looks terrific - very pastoral. so happy for you both and I'm really looking forward to more vlogs. Yes, it was sad leaving London and Lucy, but think of the new chapter in your life. So exciting!!
Aww, you made me tear up. You feel what you need to when you need to. May this be the start of a wonderful new chapter in both of your lives. Random: I don't know what it is, but I kind of love the print on the wall of Keegan's office (I think) of the person in the up turned umbrella on the ocean.
My goodness, Joel. You've made me so heartbroken and so excited. Back and forth, it's an emotional Rollercoaster. I'm mostly super excited for you. And I hope you're doing well up north with Keegan and the kids.
I feel for you Joel. I'm moving to Florida this year from California. I'm sure when I pass through the countryside leaving California I'm going to get very emotional too. I've never lived anywhere but here. I have no family in Florida and only two friends and its 3,000 miles from all I know. I'm very excited, but also really anxious and scared (and I'm not even moving until summer!). Its totally understandable to grieve a good life you are leaving behind for a new one. Its unavoidable but you'll be fine! Just like I will be.
Change is hard! You are leaving people and places you will miss and starting out new. You are so lucky if you feel like that because it means you have a lot of love in your life. Good luck and have fun adjusting to the new normal. Love Christine
Congratulations on your move, Joel! I know how hard it is to have a change such as yours. It is totally normal to feel the way you do. I hope you and Keegan, and Ava, and Fen, will have a wonderful life together. You deserve happiness! I'm sure you will still see Lucy often. I know she is sad about you and Ava leaving but she has another wonderful life ahead of her with her future husband. Thank you for sharing with us. Love you Joel, and I am praying for your happiness. ❤
Joel your beautiful dog is crying because of your emotions. These feelings will come and go it's only natural. Good luck to you all, your future will be exciting

Dear Joel, this is like a parent watching their first child leaving home. Sad but all the joy for the future. Sending a hug from an American grandmother who has known the same sadness and joy
Thank you Donna! ❤
A life without change and risk is not living to the fullest. There's absolutely nothing wrong with staying in your comfort zone, but then you have to deal with regret over missed opportunities.
From 1 granny to another…ME TOO
You're going to be so happy you made this choice, Joel.

Well put, mate!
Yes, so well said Mathew 👏💜💯🙂
Well said!❤
Yes, when the last day finally arrives, you can't help but feel those feelings of sadness and yet excitement for the next chapter. Ava now has a her buddy Fin to hang with, and you have Keegan. So happy for you Joel! Thanks for taking us along.
Very true, thank you!

Thank you Lyn! You're totally right. And Ava loves having a sibling!
Being an old man at this point, I feel like I'm reliving my own youth vicariously through Joel. Very happy he has Eva AND Keegan to see him through the transition. We are all with you Joel!
Moving is one of life's biggest stressors. Let the emotions do what they must do. Big Hugs!

A dramatic change in life can be both emotional and scary but with time each day will get better. You are so blessed to have found someone that loves and adores you. I’m so Happy for You and Keegan.. Wishing you both much Love & Happiness ❤️Always 👨❤️👨

I absolutely love the symbolism of it being sunny and rainy as you approached your new house/life. Seems perfectly reflective of your emotions lately. Good luck getting settled in and unpacked. I can't wait to see where this new chapter takes you!
The sun always shines in Yorkshire ☀️
It's completely normal to feel all sorts of emotions right now. We all do it when our world changes. Ava is only worried about her Dad crying. She knew you were upset and she was concerned, that's all. She's a very good girl.

All depends on the person Jennifer, my cousin moved up north from Kent!
Then after 6 very long years she moved back as she missed living there.

Poor Ava _ thinking dont cry daddy _ I'm still here as your constant companion
You are going to live with the love of your life. What can go wrong. You are emotional. That's beautiful.
Sometimes it is good to cry. There is a sense of loss which needs be let out when we leave our old world behind us. Thank you for the video!
Your reaction is so normal. Crying is healthy for you. Let your emotions show.
Moving is change and change IS hood!
Change is Good!

Oh Joel! Sending you hugs from me. Of course your going to be emotional sweetheart.❤️
Hello there guys Don't declare the attempt at dry January over yet. Not drinking for 92 percent of the month would still be a good achievement Keegan
You did it! You made the move, and now you and Keegan (and Ava and Fen) begin your lives together. You have all the good wishes of so many people that I doubt you'll ever be able to use them all up! Just know you (both) are loved, and wished every good thing.

You both look so happy. What a lovely evening.
Love the twin thing. Cute.
You guys are so cute together! Best of luck in 2023!
This video made me cry a little for you. But so excited for you and Keegan, and for sweet Ava who now has a live- in companion!
Sadness isn’t winning. Emotions are. Because the happy and sad have compounded, it’s just coming out this way.
*You two make a very good looking couple...that apparently makes each other smile a lot!* Be Happy!
Love & light to you Joel! Life is a grand adventure and this is only the start of a new chapter. All my best dear boy. Much love, Lisa
Good luck in your new space...new changes are always difficult but i am sure you will be happy...you and your partner are good guys and be well and safe
Wishing you two adorable guys all the best of health and fun and love on your great adventure!❤️❤️❤️

I was glad to see you ended with what seemed to be a special/fancy dinner out to celebrate this new chapter!
Good Luck . You will miss everyone but you are close & can visit. Ava will be happy as long as you are there. Pamela
Your first walk seemed like an awwww moment ! This is home 🥰
Rooting for your happiness and all your dreams coming true😘🇺🇸
I totally understand what you are going through emotionally. As a military brat then as a military member, I went through those emotions every 3 years. I am very happy for you, and yes you made me cry😊
So incredibly happy for you boys. I’ve moved a lot over the years, and I would encourage you to feel all the feelings. You’ll settle into your new home and new routines, all with the love of your life at your side. Enjoy❤🎉😂😊
Once you unpack and have your books and personal items around you’ll start to feel more settled. Just remember it will take time to adjust to your new surroundings. Keep smiling 😊
You guys are so perfect together! So happy for you both! 💘
We’re all crying with you but so excited for you and Keegan on your new journey together. Sending love and hugs from America
Very excited for you and your future. It’s so hard to move, but love is worth it 😊
Joel it’s okay. Much love!
I'm so happy and excited for you! 💕💕
Also you two are marvellous!! ❤👍such a wonderful couple!
Massive congratulations to you and Ava joining your family in the North now officially! 🎉🍾
Thanks Kathy!!
Joel I can empathize as I left Swindon in 1999 to move back up to Birmingham but for me it was a relief as i had some issues down there.
Even though you're little sad you've never looked as happy and healthy, you're glowing, best of luck to both you going forward 🥂
Aw thank you! That’s reassuring haha!
Joel, hug to you from across the pond. 😊
Big hugs to you, Joel. I'm excited for your next chapter in life. xx
Thank you Karen!
