Hey Kira. Thank you for your video. Just wanted to give you an update. I followed your dosage recommendations. I initially started with one teaspoon before bed with 20 ounces of water. I did that for a week and had pretty good results. I’ve since changed the dosage to 1.5 teaspoons once a day at bedtime with the same 20 ounces of water. I haven’t been this regular for many years. I have ordered the capsules. I have issues with diarrhea and/or loose stool, and when you said that about not needing many wipes, I had to cheer! This has been a problem for about the last 4 years with the emergence of these ibs symptoms. I'm hoping these capsules will help, and if they don't, I will try one small bottle of Metamusil powder before I give up. Thanks!
Psyllium powder or husks work just as well and it is about 1/10 the price. I have gotten a lot of benefits for IBS by taking probiotics. A clean wipe matters.
Thank you so much! I've been researching this for months and you're the first and only one who answered my question. Will it help IBS-D specically? I'm going to try it. I've been suffering for 13yrs now. Wish me luck.
I'm sorry you've been dealing with it for so long. Consider the pill version or the cookie version (where you take less water with it) if the powder isn't helping your IBS-D. Best of luck!!!
Methyl cellulose works better with less side effects because it is SOLUBLE fiber which is much better than Metamucil which is insoluble fiber. I was on Metamucil for many years and it did help but when I switched it did the same thing with less side effects.
I know this video is old but I have mixed IBS (very aggressive) and metamucil helps SO MUCH. That said, the dose isn't a once and go. You have to listen to your body, especially depending on your IBS type. If it's D, take twice a day. If it's C, use once a day. FOR SLOW EMPTYING BOWEL - this isn't for you. Fiber doesn't work correctly for you and oftentimes make things much worse. For IBS it's great.
That's so interesting that you say if it's D, take twice a day. I have mixed presentation too, and sometimes i stop taking it for a few days when I'm in a D phase. I really appreciate you sharing you do twice a day when it's like that!! I'd love to know more about ur use of it :D
@@kirawithibs The most important thing that I've learned is that double or triple doses of Metamucil during a IBS-D phase is extremely important. The urge to go isn't really reduced, the since the bulk has been added the amount of time you need to get a toilet goes up from zero seconds to a few minutes - which can be a life saver. For IBS-C the fiber draws water into the intestines in a more natural way instead of using something like Miralax, which ultimately helps move everything along. A lot of people make the mistake and stop all fiber during a constipation cycle, which with IBS is incorrect. That said, people shouldn't self-diagnose. You may have something like gastroperesis which is an entirely different thing and fiber makes that significantly worse.
Girl! You are ADORABLE! HAHAHA! Thank you so much! See I'm just now trying to find a MORE NATURAL type of Meta Mucil. I looked at the Meta Mucil and saw that it's Artificially flavored and has Fake dyes in it.

I just started taking Yerba Prima psyllium husk powder for ibs-c. It kinda helps ~ still having issues but I've only been on it for a month or so. I like to take a 1/2 teaspoon in the morning with water and put the water in the microwave for 30 seconds first before adding the psyllium (the water from the filter comes out cold and chugging cold water made my stomach feel cold and weird lol). I like to get it out of the way first thing in the morning before my taste buds wake up. 😅 And then cereal feels like a reward! 🍰
Thanks for sharing! I probably should have specified *psyllium husk* in the video huh 😅 i appreciate you sharing your routine!! Maybe I'll make an update in the future with all the different ways to take it. I also cannot chug cold water! And stick with it if you find it helps! It's just one of the many things I do for my stomach
The YP PH powder is better because You can add Benefiber to it to help with balancing the gut bacteria. I took YP PH powder for a weak and it was giving Me a foul loose movement. Added BF to it now it's better.
My favorite way to take it is in the morning. I mix the orange Metamucil with chocolate slim fast mixed with soy milk. I find it’s a good way to get it taken and it’s fast with one of those counter milk shake mixers. And, I like the flavor. I agree with you about being ravenous shortly after. I’m ready for lunch by 10:30.
What did the colonoscopy conclude? I ask as I’ve suffered 12 years with Crohn’s disease (11-12) movements/ day and have since reversed 90% of my issues with carnivore diet yet still have 7-9 watery movements/day and can’t understand why. I’ve not consumed any inflammatory foods in over a year so intestines can’t be inflamed causing diarrhea. I’m consuming betaine hydrochloride for proper stomach acid levels and done a parasite cleanse which it helped a bit yet still diarrhea.
I have collagenous collitis. From Nsaid use. I have had daily headaches since I was in 3rd grade. And took excedrin with motrin for years all day. Thats what caused mine.
I have neurogenic (sluggish) bowel with IBS; just started daily Metamucil today but first glass made me feel bloated. Been eating salads, veggies, and high-fiber cereals for years but only little improvement...I've also taken Fortify probiotics for several vears.
Thanks for sharing! Metamucil is a different type of fiber than the kind we usually find in food, so I hope you start to notice a positive change :) however, it's not for everyone! Dont feel pressured to stick with it if you continue to feel bloated 😅 but good on you for trying something new
I know this is an old video so I hope I can get a reply. My doctor suggested taking Metamucil and I’m really scared to start trying it. I got the biscuit kind because I have sensory issues and the texture of the powder has me worried. I also have dehydration issues where I don’t stay hydrated well with just water. Do you have experience with the biscuit kind of Metamucil? I’m just worried about trying
Hey! I check this account often even though I've been too busy to make new vids 🙈 I've had the biscuit kind and I think the only sensory issue is that it's kinda dry so it's good to eat it with water/milk/juice on the side, which you should do anyways. As for sensory stuff with the powder, my cousin blends it into breakfast smoothies in the morning and because it's cold, the powder doesn't get all gross even though it takes them 10-15 minutes to drink. Lastly, I started doing Metamucil in the morning instead of night and that helps with water intake because then it's easy to sip on water over an hour or two vs chug it all at once. Hope this helps!
Idk what type of constipation I have yet, but I have bowel movements everyday once or twice everyday but my stools come out so slow which I take 5 hours in the bathroom, and still haven’t found a solution yet
@@82556jimmy it’s just been a sluggish colon and idk but the gi doctor had told me after the colonoscopy that my colon is inflamed and after my results he said I have colitis but I haven’t had any symptoms just a sluggish colon, I mean they gaved me medication but it seems to not dissolve and I see the pills in my stools and the medication seems to not work or something I just feel the same
That stuff nearly killed me. It lowered my blood pressure drastically and as a result I suffered from severe vertigo attack that lasted three days and I fell a flight of stairs.

@@kirawithibsthanks for clarifying. I’m sure you said it somewhere, but I just came across your channel in search of whether or not this helps IBS-D, as well.
@@DL-rl9bd since I go between C and D, I'd say it does help with D when I'm in that phase, but I'll do smaller amounts with less water more frequently to try to "harden" things up. But not sure if that works for everyone
I have digestive issue. I have to go toilet 3 times in the morning. I want to fix my digestive issues and gain weight. So my question is that 1) Is this gonna help me gain weight? 2) If i take 3 times before each meal, dose it help fix my digestion issues?
Hey! I'm so sorry your digestive issues are preventing weight gain. This happens to me also from time to time, where food passes through me and i lose a ton of weight. You could try Metamucil without adding much water to if (so just one cup with 1 teaspoon) or take the metamucil pills. This could help toughen up the stool to move through you slower, though it might not work. It's a low risk supplement, and non addictive so it could be worth a shot!
My doctor prescribed this for me for IBS and a fissure (which finally healed thank god), but also said I could try citrucel. Have you tried Citrucel vs Metamucil ? And why? Which is better?? Thanks for the great video.
Hey! Glad ur fissure is healed! I've never tried Citrucel since Metamucil has always worked so well for me. Is there a reason you would try that one instead? I'm curious to know if it's any better :D
@@kirawithibs I’m glad the Metamucil is working for you. Psyllium causes gas in some people and Citrucel doesn’t, but you have to experiment and see what works for you. I think Metamucil works better as a fiber but Citrucel seems more gentle. And citrucel seems to work better for both IBS D and IBS C. I’d love to see you try them both and compare them! No one on RUclips has done that and I bet it would help a lot of people and get a lot of hits!
Hey! Super reasonable... Psyllium Husk doesn't help everybody. I wonder if it was a hydration or dosage issue? But don't keep taking it if it doesn't work!! 🤷♀️
It's now been about 2 weeks, and I mostly take the capsules. I do have the drink mix just for a change up sometimes. At first, I took 1 tablet around noon and a second one a little before bed, about 10 to 10:30. Lately, I have taken 2 capsules just before bedtime. I have not had any of the mega diarrhe, bu in the last 3 days, there has had to be a bit more wiping done. I try to drink enough water so as to not get constipate, but maybe I am drinking a little more than I need? Anyway, once I get the dosage figured out and the amount of water figured out, I think it's going to be very helpful for the diarrhea of IBS. That and the stomach cramps are what happens when I get an attack of the nasty disease! I can see a light at the end of the tunnel now! 😊
Ohy gosh that is so great to hear. Full disclosure, I go through periods occasionally where I am not having clean wipes, but usually it gets back on track if I stay diligent. It looks like you are figuring it out slow and steady 🙏

Wow very cool! I gotta try it mixed with other drinks, i love that idea 😊
I have had D for 40 days. Going 11 times a day. Nothing is working. I have colonoscopy this month. Im going to try this. Thank you
Did it help?
@@drseanpatrick696 yes.
Dont feel pressured to stick with it if you continue to feel bloated 😅 but good on you for trying something new
I heard it’s best to only eat cooked before when you have sluggish bowel
You're a beautiful woman. Thank you so much for the information. I'm gonna give it a try. Hopefully it works 😊👍🌻
I have celiac/Ibs hope it helps
It has aspartame! Nuff said!
The sugar free kind does but I think the regular has sugar. You can get the unflavored kind that has neither but... I find it gross lol
@@kirawithibs capsules have no sweeteners added
There’s actually a stevia version
Fibre tears your bowels up so I won’t use it anyway. Look up Dr. Chaffee!
Thank you❣️
Idk what type of constipation I have yet, but I have bowel movements everyday once or twice everyday but my stools come out so slow which I take 5 hours in the bathroom, and still haven’t found a solution yet
Wow that sounds really uncomfortable, I'm sorry you are dealing with that. I hope you find some relief soon 🤞
How is your condition now, any improvement?
@@82556jimmy it’s just been a sluggish colon and idk but the gi doctor had told me after the colonoscopy that my colon is inflamed and after my results he said I have colitis but I haven’t had any symptoms just a sluggish colon, I mean they gaved me medication but it seems to not dissolve and I see the pills in my stools and the medication seems to not work or something I just feel the same
nice example keep up
Great video
☺️☺️ more coming soon!
Im nearly free from Ibs now been a Long time. But alot is cause my bad biome. Kefir and other fermenteded foods can help
Do you still take kefir and eat fermented foods to keep your tummy feeling good?
@@kirawithibs yes. I had a certain probiotic that helped. But look into Micro biome gen test it.
Does this work for IBS-D or IBS-C?
Hey! It works for both, but you might want to experiment with different dosages and frequency for what works best for your body.
That stuff nearly killed me. It lowered my blood pressure drastically and as a result I suffered from severe vertigo attack that lasted three days and I fell a flight of stairs.
Wow, i am so sorry that happened to you. Metamucil is not for everyone! Every body is unique. I'm glad to see you are still around and that you made it thru the vertigo attack, that sounds scary
How does Metamucil do this to someone?
@@mindcontrol67 i wouldn’t be surprised if they took a lot at once

Hi, what type of IBS do you have, C, D, or mixed?
Hey! I have mixed presentation but predominantly constipation
@@kirawithibs makes sense to me. Thank you
I have digestive issue.
@2:13 this is true.
I take the capsules
@@babyboy1971 hehe okay ^.^ you are convincing me to try this!!! Will comparing Citrucel v Metamucil make me viral? 😛😂
@@kirawithibs lol. I actually switched back to Metamucil! Lol. How much Metamucil do you take daily?
@@babyboy1971 it depends, usually a rounded teaspoon once a day, but sometimes I up it to twice a day for a few weeks if I'm having more issues!
That's the shizniz!
Right?!
I just use prebiotics. No more gut problems at all.
Wow that's awesome! Which ones do you take?

what if you have a stricture from Crohn's disease?
ask your doctor first
I've tried it and it prevents me from evacuating my bowels completely.... I do not want to be too descriptive.... Not fun at all.....

What a DB. (Douche Bag)
Save $100.00 a year on toilet paper
😂you got that right!
Metamucil has a combination of insoluble and soluble fiber - Citrucel is only soluble
Yeah I think I misspoke in the video, but yeah it has just the right amount of mix
