I once referred to FSR as Fender Special Run in an email to Fender. I was corrected by a Fender rep. He told me it stands for Factory Special Run. Just passing that along.
That is a sweet guitar and the inlays match the look perfectly. The deals are certainly out there. I needed a newer main guitar and I just wanted a mod platform. I found a new Squier Contemporary Strat Special for $300 on reverb last year and ordered it immediately and it has not let me down at all. I am keeping my eyes open for any of the CV, Anniversary, or FSR Squiers during this holiday season.
The love the 60's Jazzmaster/Fender styling of rosewood fretboard, block inlays, and painted headstock. I wish there would be a combo of those qualities with a modern built guitar. I love Jazzmasters, but they won't make them with a more modern tremolo hardly at all. Of course, I'm not complaining about this guitar because it's made to be like a vintage guitar. I just ordered a Steve Brown Sound VS200 so I can finally have my dream of a Floyd Rose Jazzmaster. I'm going to get higher quality decals to do block inlays and I'm going to put Jazzmaster knobs on it to get it closer to the vibe of an old jazzmaster.
Got the same model recently from CME. Similar issues.Scratchy frets & finger board was dry. I wasn’t expecting anything this nice. The pickups are awesome. I have many very high end guitars and in comparison some vintage 60’s fenders they are very close. It will be a insane guitar after a professional setup. It was going be a temporary jazzmaster to hold me over until I get a 1966 reissue. But it is seriously worth every penny and not temporary!
I really appreciate two things that you do. Review gear and guitars in all price ranges and your slogan. “Play guitar and have fun” very important message
Thanks for posting this. I wasn’t a subscriber and just happened to stumble across when you posted about the sale. I immediately bought the guitar when I saw that. I’ve never owned a jazzmaster and I’m very pleasantly surprised with this one. I’m a subscriber now! What a deal
I totally lucked out on that long and Mcquade deal and got the red one, 350 Canadian is a steal I love the guitar, also lucked out last Christmas season and scored a classic vibe 60s Mustang , great guitars
I got a 60s RI Jazzmaster for 350 in that sale! The guitar came without a ground, so I had to solder one in, but after that it sounded great! The frets were not installed well on the maple fretboard, but after levelling and polishing, the guitar plays and sounds incredible
I got one of these last year from Thomann in Germany as I couldn't find it anywhere in Canada. Had the scratchiest frets I've ever seen on a new guitar, and a couple of unscrewed screws on the pickguard and pickups. A few seconds with a screwdriver and a full fret polish later and it's turned into a great guitar. One of the best I own. And looks killer.
Great Deal. I bought the exact model a while ago and was already pretty happy with the guitar, just tuning stability when using the trem was pretty bad. I ended up with new locking tuners, avri trem and new pickups, leveled the frets, improved the nut slots and sanded the neck. Now this thing is my favourite guitar and even wirh heavy trem usage holds tuning better than any hardtail. I had the same experience with a squier mustang bass. I feel that if you are able to do a proper set up and maybe replace a part or two you can get excellent instruments in this lower price range.
You could have avoided all that by just putting 11's on it, that would of totally fixed tuning stability, and you would have saved a lot of time and money.
Squier has been putting out some banger guitars and basses as of recently. New players got it good picking up inexpensive gear that looks and sounds great.
i picked up this guitar because of your post.. lol... I owe you so much. i am absolutely floored by this guitar and how amazing it sounds at the price i paid for
I grabbed one of these after seeing your original post on RUclips. I have a CV Jazzmaster already but should be able to sell it for at least what this cost and have the bound maple fretboard with black bloc inlays instead. Worth the trouble.
Nice Video! I saw this sale but L&M also has the Sterling Cutlass CT-50 HSS on sale for $499 CAD and I picked that up instead. It's a great guitar and even better for the sale price. I don't think I can go back to squire necks now.
Yeah Sterling necks are awesome. They're asymetric, meaning they're fatter on one side and slimmer on the other side. I really like how they feel. The best necks for me are the Schecter Retro models (think PTs or Traditionals) but the price is much higher!
I jumped on this when I saw your post. It showed up yesterday, but the employees didn't like how it was out of the box. They said they could fix the problems but instead ordered me a new one. Hopefully yours is better.
I bought this same one based on your tip off! Im loving mine so far. I am however replacing the pickups with the 50s style pups from the Vintera II because the stock ones are just too harsh to my bass player ears. Sweeter mids on the 50s spec pups.
You wanna talk about complicated switching my mom had gifted me her 68 Hagstrom Special 3 when I was 17. Sadly it had been stolen at a gig about two years later but once you knew what it did it was like riding a really outrageous bike.

Special run because it’s blue Anderson has the left-handed 50s telecaster in blue but they won’t send it here. I tried to pay cash and buy one and have it shipped and the computer kept telling me no and they still have them. At least they did as a Friday last week and I don’t have the money so I bought the regular plain colored one, and the neck messed up on it brand new the fourth fret is filed off at such a steep angle, that when you push down on the string goes right off the edge brand new and needs a fret job cost more to buy all the equipment to do the front job than it does to buy a new neck
Great deal but I just can't get on board with the colored headstock. I know it's supposed to make it look fancy but it just looks like it's trying too hard.

"I don't know what reason that is" - it was made in an Asian country where they pay people much less than in America or even northwestern Mexico for the exact same work, that part is somehow often forgotten but easy to understand I presume. Also the complicated part: they put a different decal on the headstock so you don't pay extra for the official brand logo, instead you pay less for the official off-brand brand logo, that way it's harder for people to realize a stick screwed on to a plank doesn't care on which continent it was put together and still makes an E chord when you put six strings on it and strum them.
So your boycotting is helping them how? They are still poor and underpaid with or without your money. Your boycotting is pointless and senseless as it accomplishes nothing, and instead succeeds at taking food from the mouths of the very workers whose low pay and slave labor you’re boycotting.
