If you go look at my long format videos there’s one on how to use a printer, and one without a printer. For this particular piece I printed my drawing onto the fabric
I stitch on canvas often, it’s just a move open weave so you need to be careful not to pull your stitches too tight or you can inadvertently pucker your fabric

You could use a carbon paper and copy from printou
