The historical Maronites were a group of *Arab Christians* in *Cyprus* and in the *Emirate of Mount Lebanon* , both regions of the Ottoman Empire, who were declared under the protection of the French monarchy since the Middle Ages, and had began migrating to France beginning in the 1600s.

Hey, I'm enjoying your videos thoroughly. I was wondering if it was possible to provide your sources in the description of the video so that one can pursue more information. Thanks again for these videos, I'm finding them really informative, I had no idea about the King-Crane Commission!

Earliest thinker of Pan Arabism was a Lebanese Christian. That kind of busts your historical “facts.” King-Crane commission actually called for a united Syria based on the first ever Arab survey conducted where 80% were in favor. You’re stretching the wishes of a tiny minority being Maronites in Mount Lebanon and applying that logic without any historical evidence. You’re just straight up wrong. “Levantine” people didn’t identify as Arabs? What is your definition of Levant? Mount Lebanon? Maronite Church? Arabs existed in Sham for over 2 millennia. Roman Emperor Philip the Arab was from Syria before there was even such a thing called Maronites. And Phoenician? Really man?

He is merely reciting Lebanese narratives about the foundation of the modern state of Lebanon, not endorsing them.
Your listening skills and comprehensions are very poors.
