The fact that Lebanon remained Christian majority well up to the 1970s is amazing. Large scale emigration to the Americas and higher birthrate among Muslims as well as Muslim Palestinian immigrants led to a Muslim majority. 55% Shia Lebanese and 45% Sunni Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese.
Also Lebanese Christians, Maronites specifically, and their descendants are the biggest group when you take into account the diaspora. Meanwhile Shi’a are the smallest when taking into account the diaspora(about 1.7 million total with maybe at most 200,000 to 300,000 descendants in the diaspora).
