Building An INVINCIBLE Deck | Part 3

- Today we start out with the beams and posts up from the last episode. We realize the Zip Level needs to be calibrated and has failed us. After some macguyvering we remedied that! Then we move on to complete the frame by attaching joists at the ledger and using brackets to attach to the beam. We decided to bevel the rim joists because a small amount will be showing in the finished product. Next week we tackle the foam joist tape, and stone deck boards and fascia.

Really enjoy seeing how you fix mistakes! Great video series
Thanks. It’s all about how you fix them.
is that dude somebodys nefew hahahaha? havent seen a apprentice this clueless in a minute
Wood bully aka the composite king.
Or king of composite rather.
Fantastic problem solving, if it was sloping away I'd have probably left it (unless it visually looked really off).... regardless of drainage you can never leave a slope toward the structure, ever.
Agreed
Mr Wood Bully are you hiring? I finished a general carpentry apprenticeship 2 years ago.
New guys 😂 X marks the spot
awesome video mate. keep em coming
Thanks, will do!
I added that zip level to my cart only to delete that thing out 10 mins later!
Help me with what I missed though. I though you were off by 3/4" but it seems like you cut off more than 2" from the beam when fixing it.
We were off by almost 2” it wasn’t the zips fault entirely I had not had it calibrated in a few years. Once calibrated it works great again. Still good for grading doing estimates
Bully, what belt is that? Great video as always brother!
Occidental
I believe when you shot the ledger height the zip lever orientation was vertical plane and when you set it on the post base it was horizontal... Could be where your half inch came from.
It’s calibrated for that. I think it needs to be re pressurized
Good job to you sir❤ i like it....
Thank you!
Can you drive the screws in the boards to put plugs in or do I spin after a certain point because it’s composite
This stuff bites better than wood. No spin out you’d be shocked
I wonder if the cold weather effected the level you had? 🤔
Could be.
@@woodbullyltd maybe the cold made your steel posts 2 in too long
composite boards will crown in 3 years time we all know what way there gonna be sagging
This is OC Lumber. It’s International Code Compliant. It does not behave like composite
Have you tried a laser level?
Yep. Can’t see them outside but the transit is probably the way to go
If you use a reflective card, you can find the line in the daytime
Where in canada r u guys
Toronto
@@woodbullyltd like ur work👍. Pay attention brian
Love the build but your span is too large for 2x6 floor joists
These are 2x10
