Vidit (Upgrad Mumba Masters) was under insane time pressure against Nodirbek Abdusattorov (PBG Alaskan Knights) but he managed to wriggle out of the mess somehow! 20 mins should be sufficient time for GMs and IMs. This format is about time-management so it IS chess. You need to come out of comfort zone sometimes in life.

Vidit, another level
This event has been a good reminder why increment became universal OTB. I think they think spectators will enjoy this kind of time scramble because it's intense, but there's no competitive integrity possible in the chaos. They need to find a way to enforce the rules. Watch the 20 seconds after 9:10 in slowmo, there are pieces flying and it's not even clear if they're all legal moves

@@121nahibataunga I still enjoyed the games and the event, I just think adding a 1 second increment would be a better format. The intensity is entertaining but it's also a shame when games have a 'non-chess outcome' as Fabi calls it - decided by hand-eye coordination and who is willing to bend the clock press rules

so interesting this is ; we also feel the time pressure wow amazing that last moment of vidit and even nodirbek had time he was also moving so fast

This is not fun. We don't even know what moves are being played in the end. How can you win in a situation like this? There is no way to know if all moves were even legal, it's not like there is a decision review system where you can watch it in slow-motion. Even if one player claims a win the other player can always contest that claim and the deadlock can never be broken. People say this time scramble is intense and adrenaline inducing, but how can that be the case when you know for a fact that not matter who is winning, it is going to be a draw.
This topic was also discussed in Fabi's newest podcast. Fabi said, that 95% of the arbiters are useless....

This is not chess. A lot of players are unable to convert winnig positions due to no increment. Most of the winning games are ending in a draw. This is not fun for spectators if that is what the organizers had in mind

Nodirbek made illegal moves also and Vidit was scared to sac his king again
At 9:00 Vidit placed the rook on a square then completely changed it after he slammed the clock and seconds later he was holding his pieces during Nodirbeks time. I think they both understood each other, however I think rules have to be taken more serious by the arbiters.

@@ranting_riyain bullet or blitz u can have 2-3 sec increment per move and in classical it's somewhere around 40 sec increment after some 20 30 moves😁
@@ranting_riya There is no fixed rule for increment It is decided by organisers Usually we have 1-2 sec increment for over the board games but here we have none so that makes it difficult in time crunch situation

Yeah yeah....we have other serious tournaments...this is for fun. Ask the world class players participating. Time increment should at least be enough to get the win if you are winning. Exactly thats why increment is there. Poor people, enjoy this and find another Vishy vs Magnus 2023 GCL like match up again. Can we? Yeah right.
Tho I'm a vidit fan but I don't feel bad for him he always takes a lot of unnecessary time in opening. It's not classical he should be more considerate how he plays in different formats.
