I love how Pearl Jam doesn't give a crap about what their music sounds like to other people, they produce what they want to produce. Which is clear from this album. You get this song, and then you get a song like Sleeping By Myself which is almost the polar opposite.
Few bands have been as consistently great as pearl jam. I love most of their albums, but none will ever reach the sheer awesome-ness of ten. I was repurchasing the album many years ago(scratched) and the guy at the counter said; " every human should have a copy of this album issued to them at birth "...Funny stuff but sums up what an amazing record it is.
+salamagogo I totally understand where you're coming from. And I respect your opinion just as much as anyone else's. However, in my opinion Vs. was the one everyone should have. But just as I'd have to add, they've consistently made great albums. What's funny is that the band's least favorite album of theirs (Binaural) is my favorite. Every song on there is just awesome.
@@muzuhope4206 i see alternative rock as a term for music that can stretch from punk to post punk to heavy metal to grunge and etc. As far as i know, It was a synonym for underground hard rock bands in the 80s with a heavy influence from Punk, and up untill the 90s it was grunge.

for a second i could have sworn i was hearing Audioslave... but PJ fan for life and will encourage everyone else who is to buy the album and not steal it. we always complain old school should come back but when they try, no one supports them.
Personally I think this sounds like a B-side to Vitalogy! That's one of the best Pearl Jam CD's as well. They're bringing back they're old sound which is awesome.
Happy 48th B-day Mr. McCready! You got some fantastic guitar solos and tricks up your sleeve! I think you're one of the most greatest alternative/grunge musicians out there! Have a happy 48th B-day!
"I was listening to some Dead Kennedys at the time and I felt very moved by how East Bay Ray played guitar or what an anti guitar hero he was. I wanted to try to explore that," says McCready,
Wait, this song is PEARL JAM? Okay, I have listened to this song non-stop ever since it came out, and I just watched the Sirens video and heard this song at the end... Literally words cannot describe how happy I am right now.
It's been many many years since I've heard a PJ song that captures the raw 90s energy I so missed. I didn't recognize them the first time I heard this on the radio. :)
They look good for their age keeps that great hope alive for many more to come...Favorite band is just not the right words. Its like talking about a family member not a band.
Like it or not they are one of last crusaders of truth. There is always a few songs that talk about how I'm feeling or thinking. This definitely is one. Whether they believe it or not they inadvertently speak their many loyal fans. Thanks for not being afraid of speaking the truth.
I love old Pearl Jam and can gladly say I love new Pearl Jam. They are a great example of a band that has evolved while maintaining their distinctive sound. The new album is great! Keep on rockin' in the free world PJ!
au-fait and acquainted to hands on influences of new wave and rock of the 80s, its great to hear them vested in their punk rock roots. 5 years post release. sounds as good and assert as the first time I played it.
I love this song. Everything they do blows me away. Pearl Jam is the perfect band.
This was the best Pearl Jam song i've heard in years! An absolute rocker from start to finish!
I love how Pearl Jam doesn't give a crap about what their music sounds like to other people, they produce what they want to produce. Which is clear from this album. You get this song, and then you get a song like Sleeping By Myself which is almost the polar opposite.
This is a hardcore song, pure and simple.

Clair of the voyance what's your opinion? Would love to know!!
one word, "Jeremy"
great song. vedder still writes some powerful stuff and his voice shows his heart.
Finally a song i think that fits Matt Cameron drumming
Pearl Jam's and Eddie's punk rock influences come through in this song,
It also has abit of an alternative rock feel.
Spin the black circle-esque

it's incredible how every song by them is a rare piece of art
The quality of this song is So high, it can only be underrated.
Eddie STILL does that "pole dance" with the mic stand! ^_^ dam i love him!
PJ are one of the best bands around for creating/writing/constructing great catchy punkish style songs like this but also with great lyrics to match.
Always rocked to Pearl Jam and always will. The band has done awesome since the early 90's. Keep giving us great memories , Rock and Roll for life!!!!
Just completely understood that one. Many layers. TYVM
Official lyrics:
I got an unfortunate feelin
I've been beatin down
I feel that I don't believe
And now the truth is coming out
What they're takin is
More than a vow
They're takin young innocents
And then they throw em on a burnin pile
Ah ah ye ah
And all along they're saying
Mind your manners
I caught myself believin
That I needed God
And if it's out there somewhere
We sure could use hymn now
Try my patience!
My patience tried
"This world's a long love letter"
That makes me want to cry, yeah
Along they're saying
Mind your manners
S'all they're saying
"Self-realized and metaphysically redeemed"
"May not live another life"
"May not solve our mystery"
Right around the corner
Could be bigger than ourselves
We could will it to the sky
Or we could something else
And no longer sayin
Mind your manners
Always praying
"Self-realized and metaphysically redeemed"
"May not live another life"
"May not solve our mystery"
Right around the corner
Could be bigger than ourselves
We could will it to the sky
Or we could something else
Go to heaven
That's swell
How you like your livin Hell?
Go to Heaven

people say motorhead and i hear that, but i also hear dead kennedys
I hear pearl jam
+itookallthenames also System of a Down more punk
Too bad.
itookallthenames I immediately thought of Clutch
"I was listening to some Dead Kennedys at the time and I felt very moved by how East Bay Ray played guitar or what an anti guitar hero he was. I wanted to try to explore that," says McCready,
Awesome can't wait the CD to come out
One of my favo pearl jam songs
The most Iron Maiden song of Pearl Jam I've ever heard.
+pablomistral and motorhead too
pablomistral it was supposed to sound in style of Dead Kennedys and it kinda does. But I have no idea where you can hear Maiden's influences
pablomistral allways we have to find a stupid post like this. comparing pj with anothers bands
pablomistral, the most dead kennedys song, east bay ray would be proud
for me it sounds more like "bad religion". :)
I think this is coming to the new guitar hero
Listen to this and *Do the Evolution* back to back,
and your neck will thank me.
Can't get enough of this song.
Danny Clinch never seems to disappoint me, rock on Pearl Jam.
if pearl jam were an animal it'd be the wolf
That's a song on into the wild
Rbzombie302
And vs. (animal).
:)
A white wolf with a badass scar.
Alpha wolf too
Great song, kind of reminds me of a System of Down
Was thinking the same thing
John Smith System Of A Down and Pearl Jam are my favorite bands. \m/
WHY?
No way!
The way he sings is similar to Serj
Eddie Vedder stops concert Monday to give 8 yr old JAXON thrill of a lifetime :) Vid above at Jaxon Drums. This band knows how to connect with fans !

Isn't it very similar to Spin The Black Circle?
Noticed this also. Still really like this song though....and Spin the Black Circle too.
