    1. glottal stops
    2. talking fast
    3. going down at the end of a sentence (energy in the back of our throats)
    4. lazy articulation

    Hey Madeline,
    I just wanted to tell you that your skills have really helped me a lot. So when I was young I had a couple traumatic experiences with singing, I was told at like 8ish that I sing bad by my cousins who were also children, and also told by my father that “our family doesn’t have musical talent” on a regular basis, between those two things I didn’t even attempt to sing again till I was 22 and I sang happy birthday in my car in my driveway. I just turned 30 and I finally sang successfully in front my husband, he is a worship leader in our church group. We have been married 8 years now, and I couldn’t sing infront of him this whole time because my voice would crack over and over because of my nerves but I do love to sing, have for many years now. That trauma ran deep! I am finally moving past it, and your lessons really assisted me in understanding my own voice. I really can’t believe this quality content is free lol. I really appreciate you, and I pray God blesses you and gives you the desires of your heart 💕 with love, Macey

      I have a sleigh full of sensitivities about my voice from 1st grade to now. I sang Brittany Spears and 2 boys laughed at me. People couldn't hear me when I was picked to read aloud. I got jabs from my brother and father about my singing. In school, I always had to explain not only what I said, but what it meant and why I said it that way. I even got mixed criticism from customers and my boss during my previous job about my speaking. Most days, I would trade my voice away for a new pair of gloves.

I've been in a Toastmasters club for over almost 2 years but I didn't realize some of the things I was or was not doing when I speak. Excellent advice! “Better your argument!” Without having to raise your voice!!
    It’s like a courtroom… no one is really appreciating a yelling individual but rather a calm and composed person with all the facts!!
    Maybe poor example but you get it.
    We do the same thing amongst a group of women gathered during holidays or events that the conversation gets so loud and there’s no quality in the meaning by the end! Your brain registers it as something negative….although it may not be but the delivery made it feel that way!! ❤️ great topic!! Excellent advice 👍👍👍

    I would notice I would notice my throat getting sore after a night with friends: I suspected I was doing something wrong, but never knew what. I think I’ve been directing too much energy into my throat, to get a deeper pitch.
    Going through your examples, I can feel how my breath has a more direct channel when I project ever so slightly.
    I’ll have to make that my new speaking voice

    This was the best and most thorough demonstration of these issues I have ever come across, thank you so much Madeleine! May I ask; is snoring harmful to the voice, and if so, would you happen to know how one could get rid of it? Thank you

    • @rebekahlovitt9540
      @rebekahlovitt9540 2 года назад +2

      Snoring can be harmful to your voice because everything is getting dried out. It also is harmful if you stop breathing. You might want to find out what’s causing your snoring. If it’s sleep apnea, you could need a c-pap. If it’s something more simple, nose tape could help.

    -avoid glottal stop-pressure on chord like Um
    -relax and calm down slow down
    -aim your voice at something in front of you and also at the end of your sentence so voice doesn’t end up in back of your throat
    -don’t be lazy articulations open lip with vowels
    Practice 3-5 minutes reading out loud and notice

    This stuff is interesting.... I'm kind of interested how different languages could affect the voice.... or in particular the less well spoken sounds.
    Just a thought, while I don't speak welsh fliently, there's some very different and harsh sounds that are just part of the language. I do find that the inflection and rhythm is different to english.

    • @rebekahlovitt9540
      @rebekahlovitt9540 2 года назад +1

      It’s common that wearing a mask will dry things out, so you will have to hydrate more. It also changes the air flow a little, so I’ve found I have to manipulate how I use my air pressure when I sing with a mask.
