I was singing pro in boys choir and our conductor always said to us:" you have to breathe deep into the kidney! Imagine a huge ring in the the lower back and release your breath upward by singing every single note. But be careful not close your throat." I really miss that time, 9 years in a pro choir in Berlin. Twice a year a concert tour through the world. Saved me from mathematics:-)). Very nice and professional video! Stay healthy and God bless! Greetings from Germany!

I've seen a free vocal lesson on how to hit high notes when belting and he stated there that when belting to reach higher notes you need to imagine that you're vocal chords is like a stretched rubber band. I understand what he meant by that (and i tried it too and worked) but what was I really lacking is that the vocal power so that it won't sounds the same as falsetto. He said that when reaching the higher notes in belting, you need to work on your vocal power and keep on practicing. I wanted to improve that area of my voice but I haven't came across with any vocal power exercises/workout that will help me achieve that until this video came. I understand clearly everything that's been discussed here and I totally appreciate this vocal lesson. Thank you so so much.
Honestly, before I joined choir, I really don't know how to properly sing but this channel really did helped me a lot and really improved my vocals. I'm a lot more better now and I'm very proud of all my hard works and patience. This channel played a big part in my singing journey that's why it will always have a special place in my heart. I hope you can feel all our love that we are sending to you Miss Madeleine because you deserve it all. To all new comers of this channel, please don't hesitate to subscribe coz you won't regret it I promise you. I am extremely thankful to all of you. I love y'all ╥﹏╥

😄Hi, salutations; your intro made me laugh so fuckin hard that I couldn't finish it and watched Hauser's Air on a G string. I came back and decided 30 seconds in I fuckin' loved this shit. Watched up to 6 mins so far, and am ecstatic; however, I have stuff to do but I'll be back, as ol' Arny says. Very Lilli Lehmann! Orwellian clarity! The only part I had trouble understanding was the part leading into negative energy, but that is okay; it kind of seems funny what you did in hindsight.

This makes sense....the one time I hit a high note without a weak falsetto, it was a live performance. I was anxious and kind of got out of my head, I hit the note and I felt a vibrating in my lower belly. It was exhilarating! I think I did it 2x. Afterwards I cld not recall what I did but the sound came forth with so much ease. I was never able to do it again but it let me know that I cld sing with more power if I cld only figure out what my body did it in that moment. Thank you for this video. I will practice.

Madeleine I don't mean to interrupt your vocal lesson but it is great to see you back. We have missed you. I know you are a world class vocal coach but the reason quite a few of us love you is for your great reaction videos. I hope in the future back to those also. Some you might want to check out are as follows. Angelina Jordan doing " Million Miles " or " I'd Rather go Blind " and if you haven't heard the classic " I Put a Spell On You " when Angelina was 9 yrs. old. One that I semi recently was amazed by was Lara Fabian doing " Je Suis Malade. It is a masterclass in story telling and it really moved me. The best version I saw was the one on the site called Frenchrescue that has 12 million views. Just for fun because I know you are a big fan is Violet Orlandi ft. Ai Mori with their version of " Down with the Sickness ". Last one is Morissette doing ' She Use to Be Mine " and " Defying Gravity under the RUclips site Stages Sessions. Once again it is good to see you back. Be Well

Hi! I am using CVT (complète vocal technique) method and I am not thinking down, I am raising my larynx when I sing high in full density, lots of twang ang a specific jaw position and I have no vocal problem and a lot of power. When I was thinking down, I couldn't keep my full density (chest voice) higher than a b4, and now I can sing un to e5 in chest with no strain. So I guess different techniques work for different people. Thank you anyway!

Madeleine, You are a delight. About 3 years ago the Lord led me to buy a $6.00 book entitled "Great Singers On Great Singing" written by bass Jerome Hines. In this book Mr Hines asked many famous opera singers about their singing technique. He asked Luciano Pavarotti about his technique and Pavarotti answered,"It is like going to the bathroom or like a woman in labor." Immediately, I tried this and my voice went to a place it had never been before. Praise The Lord! Also, the Lord had me view a video of Jonathan and Charlotte from Britain's Got Talent where they went to Paris for vocal training where the teacher told Jonathan to imagine singing the high note in the back of his head like you discuss in "How to sing with more power" where you instructed us to imagine singing the higher note in the back of your head. The combination of going to the bathroom and imagining singing the note in the back of your head is incredible. Hallelujah! Jesus bless you.

    • @oshobaadu6272

There is a video on youtube where Pavarotti himself says that and also goes "it is more elegant" to switch to head voice at the appropriate time. Thanks for bringing this up!
I am one who had been singing completely in head/false voice (albeit in a female voice) through high school and college (with great success of course!) and then just to myself until I was 40 when I realized I couldn't hit certain high notes or sing with the same ease. At 42/43, I took voice lessons and started singing for the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE (JESUS CHRIST!!!) in my original voice!!!
I have been practising singing in my original/chest voice for the past 10 years now. Even then, I was still focusing so much on head voice and singing high notes, completely ignoring my chest voice!!! I was doing that because I could already sing in my chest voice easily and also since I used to sing in a female voice before I assumed I was going to have "high/super high" high notes in my original voice completely forgetting/ignoring my first teacher's advice who said I was a baritone with high notes.
I was also wrongly applying a technique that I learned from another teacher the last 4/5 years: switching early to head voice to allow for a smooth transition. But the only problem is I made the switch 2 notes too early which now impacts my chest voice in most songs that I practise. (I realized this, THANKS TO SMULE!!!). I was making the switch right after B3 (the one before middle C/C4) and would be in my head voice for C4, D4 and higher. And I have been struggling to make it sound smoother at C4 without realizing that I have a good mixed chest note for C4 and D4 and maybe even E4.
Now, the last 3 months, I am practicing a lot of chest notes with support and can easily sing C4 in my chest and hopefully with enough practice in the next few years my D4 and E4 also would become easier to sing in chest/mixed chest voice! So, this is where I am at 53 now still discovering my voice!!! 😊😄😊.

Excellent video! One idea is how to ease throat tension. I tend to push my speaking voice too hard sometimes because it’s not naturally loud while others’ voices around me sometimes are. Also I have a management job and need to speak with some authority and confidence. Then just getting stressed can manifest in my voice and throat. I’d be curious about any advice or exercises you may have for this.

Isn’t pushing pelvic floor muscles down dangerous for hemorrhoids? And what if I lift pelvic floor up, like kegel exercise, together with abdominal muscle support, will it be not good for singing?

  • @catherine159
    @catherine159 2 года назад

If you add repetitive pressure down on the pelvic floor in can cause pelvic strain and pain :(
It produces great sound and control however because of the tension that's created!
I'm suprised that a majority of singers push down in their pelvic floor because it can lead to :
urinary issues, constipation, lower back pain, pain in the pelvic region, discomfort during sexual intercourse for women and muscle spasms in the pelvis.

Hey, million-dollar marketing pro here: I would strongly suggest cutting out the intro. As awesome as it is, most people just want to get to the content, and many will leave immediately out of impatience. That 23 second clip will ruin your viewership. If you really wanted to keep it in any form, I'd trim it down just 3 seconds. The best choice would be to leave it at the end to reinforce your level of professionalism and use the opportunity to advertise yourself.
