Thank you for greatly simplifying the process… I’m convinced! In the distant past creating as-built drawings I have easily spent 3 to 4 days getting measurements, going back and forth, etc which is a real pain!😢
I just started a new journey this week, with a goal to create a really cool detailed 2D and 3D model of my entire home inside & out with accurate measurements that can be converted to a file that can be exported into a program like Sketchup where I can then play around with various remodel designs (after I learn Sketchup of course). After watching your video I see it's entirely possible to do the things I want to do. Now I just have to figure out how to go from where I am today, to where you are. I'm not looking to do this for a living, I just want to put together a bunch of 3D remodel videos for my wife and I to ponder for retirement in 6 years.
@@JosephKim I would love to see a video or hear how you'd approach a project like this. I have my original home plans/blueprints. I could easily start scanning rooms and whatever else I'd need to do using the Canvas app, and paying their fee's to convert them to the files necessary to use in Sketchup. Have you ever thought about collaborating with someone like me via zoom to create a 3D model of my home? There are a lot of homeowners like myself who'd love to play around with remodel ideas but need a working model to start with.
Our customers are typically remodelers/general contractors, interior designers, or architects working on a remodel. The first step of most of those projects is measuring the existing conditions and then modeling them in their design program of choice. Canvas cuts out the measuring and initial modeling, so they can get to designing the remodel faster.
Hey Joseph, great video. I'm an AT as well. As-built site measurements take me on average about 3 hrs. I saw your video on using a 360 camera and matterport for capture realtity. In your opinion, would Canvas with a pad be a quicker process instead of using a 360 cam?
Hey Joseph, great job. I have the I pad pro with lidar. And I work Houzz and they have a 3d program but it doesn't do what I need. If I scan the room. Ones I have done that I can change the flooring, wall color, but not the cabinet style and thats what needed most. I have to remove one cabinet at a time and then use a drop down box of default cabinet style and then thats not the true cabinet and comes bad. I would love to find a program that I can show true changes of there home , cabinets, floor. Backslash counter top , eather from lidar or an d uploaded picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hi. This space totaled 1,443 square feet. At $0.15/square foot for a 3D file, a Revit, SketchUp, Chief Architect, or 2020 Design file of this space would have cost $216.45 and a 2D AutoCAD and PDF file would cost $144.30 at $0.10/square foot.
🧐 But why only pro? Don’t we essentially use this technology in almost all cell phones with depth and facial recognition? What is the difference in IR sensors with a reg v pro?
Unfortunately, there are very few Android devices with a LiDAR or other depth sensor. Canvas needs that sensor to provide CAD files with 99% accuracy. Many of our customers purchase an iPad Pro just for scanning with Canvas.

Oh yeah :)
thanks you! great, this is exactly what i needed
Thank you!
i need that Enscape Bottle!!!

Yes! It is possible. It is a fun process too.

Thanks for sharing. What type of clients are normally needing these type of as builts and 3D models?
I've done a few small retail spaces with this workflow. But I think the most frequent type is interior design products for residential.

I think it depends on the type of project and the accuracy it requires.
Appreciate both videos! Wondering how much storage your ipad has? I came across a site that said 128gb wasn't enough.
It depends what you do with, and the size of your project too. Mine is 128GB :)
@@JosephKim That makes sense. Thanks!
Cual seria mejor? Un ipad pro con lidiar o un escaner revopoint miraco pro?

I have not come across one that does all of that very well. I still rely on manual survey depending on the tasks.
how does this work outdoors? if i wanted to scan my backyard?
It can do some outdoor spaces. I've done some on one example and they gave me the correct results.
Can you tell the cost of scan to cad service for this exact site?
You can see the prices on their page and when you are submitting the order.

Is can be used exterior also?
You can for small portions. See their guidelines.
What about roof slopes? Is it accurate?
That's hard as you are not really scanning from underside. Ask them!
Does the rvt file come with the model georeferenced or would I have to manually do that?
I don't think it was georeferenced.
The Revit file is not georeferenced.
do you need to have a subscription with sketchUp i order to work on unlock those features you showed on this video?
I wasn't doing anything in SketchUp other than just viewing it. You can get viewer for free.
But to edit the drawing you do need a subscription correct
@@esteb7778 not necessarily. You can open it on a web version and edit for free. Just not as robust as paid desktop pro version.
Would that be like the sketchup for school?
Maybe it was revit the one where you were kind of editing
Unfortunately in my country it's much cheaper to get somebody to do the dimensions manually and do the CAD.
That's fair!

What is the difference in IR sensors with a reg v pro?
IR is not same as LiDar at all. One is laser, the other is infrared light.
The front-facing sensor that unlocks your phone does not have the range of the LiDAR sensor, which has a range of about 15 feet.
How about a version that works on samsung android?
So far, you have to use LiDar on Apple devices.
Unfortunately, there are very few Android devices with a LiDAR or other depth sensor. Canvas needs that sensor to provide CAD files with 99% accuracy. Many of our customers purchase an iPad Pro just for scanning with Canvas.
What magic is this??? LIDAR????
Yep! And some magical processing.
But veri expencive ı live in Turkey…
Ah, sorry.
