This is the BEST video I've watched to fix the same issue I was having in my basement. I watched like 10 "professional repair" videos and none of them actually explained how to go about fixing it. Thank you sooo much!
@@lynnbardwell7580 Great to hear considering I'm just a DIY homeowner with no formal HVAC education 😄
Bro!!!!! You just don’t know how important it is to have material like this available during challenging times. I salute you!
You still helping people even two years after I appreciate you
Glad to hear it!
Just happened today🤦🏻♀️thanks for the video!!
This happened to me 2 days ago. I spend all day yesterday watching RUclips DIY vids...and yours BY FAR is the most straightforward vid so far. THIS HELPED ME A TON....thanks bro!!!
So glad you found it helpful man! That means a lot to me 👌
Paid in Full! Classic
@@cameronholland9498 You already know!😄
Great job kiddo! My husband and I replaced a head gasket on our riding mower, resided our little barn just to name a few projects, replaced the mother board on our camper's fridge. It's amazing what you can learn off youtube! Wait to figure it out at a young age!
That's what I like to hear! Good on you and your husband for doing the research, learning the systems and performing the work yourself!
I can’t thank you enough. It’s midnight and I’m frantically trying to figure out why I had a huge puddle in my laundry room. It was either the water heater or the A coil. My dad is coming tomorrow to try to fix it and I’m going to show him the video. I could cry I’m so happy!! Thank you!
Saved me more than a couple $100 bucks. Love the reminder towards the end of the video about doing things yourself and not letting it bother you. Appreciate you!
Glad I could help ☺️
2024 and this was really helpful. Thanks for the tips man!
Awesome explanation and instructional video!!
THANK YOU! I've been trying so hard to fix this and this was exactly the problem!
Glad I could help!!!
Much praise to you. Had a leaking of water from my unit in the garage. Thank you💪🏽
Thanks for sharing, brother. Don’t be embarrassed, almost everyone’s basement collecting stuff, unless it’s finished and a livable space. It doesn’t look like you are sitting around and do nothing all day long, basement cleaning is always happening as soon as it gets flooded 😂😂😂😂. Take care. Great job!
Appreciate that! Thank you 🤙
Very useful video. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks bro! Love that people take the time to educate others. So important to keep knowledge passing on
Absolutely! Thank you for the comment 👍
Thanks great presentation!
Amazing personality, concise and very informative vids! Good shit brother
I have encountered the exact same situation in this video was extremely helpful. Thank you very much.
Very informative. Have the same problem, same furnace and also in Wisconsin. 🤘🏻🇺🇸❤️Thank you. Gonna try and tackle it. 🙏
Had the same issue last week with my Goodman central air unit after watching your video I went home and did the same thing and that fixed the issue
That's great! Glad I was able to help 😄
very helpful. I see the same issue for new Lennar property. These guys are the most messy builders.
totally helpful, dude. thank you
Glad you found the video useful 🙂
Glad you found it before you started smelling mildew! It's smelled like mildew for a couple of days, and noticed water in the same area of yours. I'm about to do the dame cleaning you did. Thanks!😊
Glad you found the source!
Thank you very much for this video, it was the first video I saw regarding this issue, since I saw water coming out the same area, and sure enough your video show me what I had to do. Thank you again
@@misaelsuero19 Glad I was able to help!
well done young man , helped me solve a problem today , mine was actually leaking in side the unit where the wires are visible and connected very scary , hopefully is fixed now after watching ur video. ty
Glad it was beneficial for you!
Yea so scary!! Just so you know this channel is remedial at best. But enjoy. Don’t know why this was on my recommendations. I don’t watch trash. Later dorks!!
Excellent guidelines!
Thank You so much!
My fitting was plugged solid. Thanks for the video dude! You saved me big time. The puddle ended up forming around my 10 year old hot water tank. If i called an HVAC company they probably would have bent me over good.
@@accomplishedtheory9502Tthat's exactly why I created this video, glad I could help!
@@TheGreenAcreWI cheers brother thanks
Thank you 🎉
Thanks for the video =)
Thank you so much. Very helpful.
Thank you so much I had so much water on my floor. Once again thank you.
Glad I could help!
Not sure what the setting is but you should make this video 'save-able' to playlist so people can jump back to it easier! Good stuff!
Thank you for the comment! The video is set to "public" so you should be able to save it to any playlist you want. There are no specific settings within RUclips studio that need to be enable to achieve this 👍
oh nooooo, nothing makes you ill like coming to find water leaking. Glad you were able to solve it, phew!
Isn't that the truth!
Thanks, same problem I have. This video helped save a tech coming out!
Glad I was able to save you some coin 😁
The exact same thing happened to me. The primary clogged and it started leaking out the threads of the red plug in the secondary. Not understanding that the red was a secondary drain they never utilized, i put teflon on a new cap and sealed off the secondary. I didnt stop to think about why the primary was clogged in the first place so two weeks later my pan overflowed all over the furnace below it. After that i unclogged the primary and instslled the exacg same nylon elbow with some clear tubing to the secondary so now i keep an eye on that secondary tube and if it ever gets water in it i know its time to ckean the primary. I see you still have the same red plug in your secondary. I would suggest screwing in a nylon elbow and tube into that secondary one as well.
I like the clear tubing idea in the secondary 👍
@@TheGreenAcreWI the nylon elbow was at lowes right next to the clear 1/2 inch tubing. Its a 3/4 MIP to 1/2 inch barb elbow adapter.
You just saved me $$$ hundreds! Thank you!
Glad I helped!
Thank you so much for your insight
Truly helpful video
Had the same problem, helped me fix it and save money! Mine didn't have a drip tray though to collect condensation clogged with rust particles...poor design?
I recently had the same problem. Sucks. Thankfully it was in the basement like yours. So, "Sucks" like stumping your toe...not like loosing engine # 1 in a 1 engine Cessna.
Hahah great analogy!
Great job and better paradigm.
Thank you!
I'm having a similar problem right now, but my drain line still drains while the unit is running, but im still hopeful its a blockage somewhere along one or two of the lines, theres a total of 3 lines that converge to the drain outlet. Thanks for the vid!
Sounds like you may have to isolate the drain hoses and inspect for individual partial clogs in the lines.
@TheGreenAcreWI yea, after I turned the relays off and I popped the line that was directly below the incoming lines from the condenser, I got 2 full 16oz cups from it, with some little bits of rust/debris, too. It also drained out a lot quicker than the actual drain outlet does, so I think there's some heavy clogging between the two places.
Thank you! Doing this now.
Thanks for the help. Subscribing now.
Glad I could help, thank you!
Excellent video ( female viewer here) Great approach, info, you are knowledgeable and well spoken. Do l feel like crawling thru my attic tomorrow a.m. to clear the main condensate pipe AND the emergency pipe, No. But it super helpful if l can’t get the HVAC guy. Thank you
That certainly doesn't sound like a fun time but I'm glad this video could share some knowledge on how the system functions and if need be enable you to fix the problem yourself 👍 best of luck!
Ive cleaned mine but didnt know about the pan. While most of the water does leave like its supposed to, im still getting drips on the air filter and accumulation in the bottom pan
Thank you for the help
Thank you. You just saved me so much. Thank you
Glad to hear!
Not a maintenance person, live in Anchorage, Alaska- have a leak from garage ceiling, know the maintenance guy said there was a problem with condensate pipe, very concerned about structure & mold being in the townhouse am renting, had smelled mildew mainly where moisture was collecting into area above garage, below bedroom. Now our heating system is not heating our unit since the vapor/moisture leak was fixed.
What else should we be concerned about? Our housing authority isn’t fixing the issue, we told them about leak 5/2021 that wasn’t fixed till 10/2022- now since 10/2022 we have had serious issue being COLD! It’s below freezing & home is stuck around 58/60 degrees F since winter started!
I'd call in a HVAC expert to access the situation and get it corrected ASAP, especially if there's mold present. Then deal with your housing authority back paying you for the repairs. Your health and safety is more important than fighting the authority to deal with it in a timely fashion.
Thanks for sharing!!
Great trouble shooting! I keep my wire too. lol Good Job!
Glad to know I'm not alone lol
@@TheGreenAcreWI lol nope
Your drain hose should be into the right side(red plug) as its a smidge lower than the secondary drain hole that you are plumbed to. The red side will drain the pan sooner. The side you are using now allows the water to be deeper before draining
This contradicts your reply on "Martin Go's" comment?
@@TheGreenAcreWI true. When i replied to martin i was @2:40 and assumed that red plug was what he was talking about. The drain holes on right side of pan.
Then @4:36 i see the drain holes on left side of pan. That has red plug too. Thats the side im referring to in my comment you you.
From video it looks like right side of pan red plug is the higher port. Left side looks like red plug is lower port.
If you ever increase the drain size to 3/4 pvc it will be less likely to get slimed up and plug. (Cause of most plugs) But your plug was debris. Thats from the installer im afraid. Just messy when the plenum was open.
Sorry. I confuse myself sometimes.
@@MrHemi4spd I agree, issue from installation that made itself known years later.
I fixed my clogged water drain based on this video! "Expert AC guy" didn't fix it because he was too lazy to check for drain clogs!
I'm sorry you had that experience but I'm very glad I was able to help you!
Also helped me fix the same thing on mine!
I’ve been getting condensation on my AC lines and even all the way to the duct work. My AC company checked it and said that everything is fine and this is normal. My AC lines on the inside of the house have been dripping water. Is this normal ?
Thank you 🙏🏽
GREAT VIDEO CHAMP!
Thanks bro! Nice video
Can anyone tell me if I can replace my primary pan that is leaking due to a crack. Model FSM4X3600A from 2008 so yes 15 years is pushing it in a humid, unconditioned attic.. I can get the pan delivered to my door for $110. A service provider is quoting $800 to replace, but unsure if they have to remove the evap coils first or not which would push the cost much higher. It's too old and rusty to spend money replacing evaporator coils. It is cooling fine. I'd spec the $110, maybe even $800 if it meant I could kick the can down the road and replace this in a few years. Anyone know if this unit's primary pan can be replaced w/o removing the coils, and something I could do myself with no HVAC skills to speak of, but I know how to turn off a breaker and give it s shot!
What if my unit is sideways in my attic? Mines leaking should i check the same pipes you showed in the video
If you've got enough space to work and you're motivated enough, give it a shot! If it looks like it's not going to be an easy fix, it might be worth hiring someone. Sometimes it's worth paying for professional help 👍
Thank you!!
What happens if I turned the unit off but it is still continually leaking?
Thankyou for the video
You just saved me extra cash I didn't need to spend!
That's why I made the video 👍 glad I could help!
Thanks!
Thank you!!! This is the FIRST super thanks this channel has received 🤙 much appreciated!
Isn't it a sign of poor air flow when the evaporator coils freeze up?
Yes, that is one of a variety of reasons coils could freeze up.
Thanks a bazillion. The drain pipe was literally completely stopped up with sludge 🤢🤮
My evaporator coil drain pan/Goodman system, is defective. Is it safe to use the furnace for heat?
I'm not a furnace repair man so I'd reach out to a certified HVAC technician if I were you 👍
That makes simple sense.
maybe a stupid question, but is it still safe to operate? or just shut it down till the clog is fixed?
You can run it still but obviously it will continue to leak and potentially cause some other issues until it's fixed 👌
@@TheGreenAcreWI thanks! That's what I thought. I don't need any more water on the floor. I turned it off
What is that red cap on the right for?? Mine is leaking
Without taking the unit apart again, I can't be 100% certain but I believe it goes to the same condensate collection pan. You could try tightening it to see if it's loose, otherwise maybe remove it, apply Teflon tape and re insert it 👍
The red one is a secondary drain. Its a touch higher than the primary. Its for if the primary plugs up it will drain.. but often once the primary plugs up the secondary plugs up soon after.
@@TheGreenAcreWI yes it goes to the same pan. Its just a bit higher than the primary drain hole. Its a secondary drain.
If you put a water sensor in the secondary. The unit will shut off if the primary plugs up
It shouldnt leak unless the primary is restricted
You know, I’m grateful for you RUclips repair guys. I truly am. You save me lots of money and headaches.
Thank you!
That said….
Consider your audience. I’m dealing with an emergency, I’m standing in a pool of water on my carpet. I don’t have lots of time, so the side chatter about you being a hoarder and other non-related stories can wait until then end. Thanks!
Who do I call to get it done? A plummer?
If you don't want to inspect the unit yourself or did and still can't diagnose the problem, you can contact a heating and cooling specialist.
What about if the leak is from the elbow
@@sylviarobles91 if the elbow is leaking it might be cracked or water is getting through the threads. First, double check that there isn't a block somewhere in the line and then either replace the elbow or apply teflon tape to the threads to take up any space that moisture might be getting through. Hope that helps!
Dont know what the code is there but that looks like a all together wrong drain line
Haven't looked into the code myself but it passed inspection when we bought the house.
So
Dumb iv watched about 5 videos and all different systems like all these looks ancient and I have a condensation pump which seems to be rare . I’m completely frustrated
Probably time to reach out to an professional then.
My drip pan was cracked. Flooded basement over time.
Oh man, that sucks!
That monster energy logo means 666. I wouldn’t want that in my house.
😂
@@TheGreenAcreWI question is why would a company make that their logo. Not like a Hindu symbol or some other religious reference. It’s like only one god actually matters and a group of people hate the real god. 🤔
