Can you do a video about the practicality, and costs of acquiring and maintaining a car there?

Hi _ I want to rent a car in Geneva Airport ( preferably from French side) from 29.12-03.01 but I will be driving on Swiss side. Do you know current situation out there? Is there some border or some kind of check in going out from French side to Swiss? Thanks K

Its a tricky time to do that. As of now the borders are not closed, but the situation is changing rather rapidly these days, I'd be cautious. Best of luck!

What about the vignette? Can you drive the french rental in Switzerland?

Hello Olivier, thank you for your comment. Sorry for the late reply, regarding the vignette it would be better to double check with the rental agency. Generally, even if the car doesn't have a vignette, you can drive it in Switzerland, just not on the highway. Lastly, the vignette is 40CHF, so in case you are renting for a longer period, probably it still makes sense to rent the cheaper car and buy vignette for yourself. I hope this helps 😊

Hi. I was looking exactly for this. Do you know if I am not arriving with flight, but with train at Cornavin, can I go to airport GVA and transit internaly to french sector to pick up the car?

No, you can't. Airport website says only passengers are allowed to.

The cheapest way I found until now to get to the French side without being a passenger is taking the F bus from Cornavin to Ferney-Voltaire, after the Douane and take a taxi or uber to airport french sector.

Hey thanks for this! If the car rental on the French side doesnt have the vignette sticker on it, where can I buy the vignette? Will it be more expensive if i buy it from a petrol station compared to online?

You can buy the vignette sticker right on the border from officers the cost is 40 CHF.

Hello I’m traveling in a couple of days to Geneva and I would like to ask if I’m able to go out of Switzerland into France and Italy by road and are their any restrictions on the borders ... please reply if you can

Depending on the border, there are fewer and fewer controls. Regardless, make sure with French and Italian gov websites what rules apply when entering, there might be restrictions, proof of vaccination/PCR test requirements which you will need to comply with
