That’s a shame, this is actual female empowerment, but it won’t fit the narrative in the states, it’s not pandering enough. Don’t mistake me, she’s a bad woman but won’t get proper recognition anywhere, sadly.
Man, what a story! What Soldier! What a hero! What a legend! What a song! This song kicks all kinds of ass, just like her! And as always, another great video! Also, sometimes my favorite Sabaton song switch. But my favorite Sabaton song, this year and from this album is The Valley of Death! The list of favorite Sabaton songs goes on, and will keep going on!
As a Naginata instructor whose regular class is all female, this song has proven to be extremely inspirational; Shiroyaya, because of the Japanese connection, also rates highly (also reflecting my approach in preserving the 'old ways" against modern influence of sportification). Obviously the Polish history songs, especially Winged Hussars & Uprising, are much appreciated (although I would like to hear one about the dramatic escape of the Polish submarine Orzeł from Tallinn in WWII). Lastly, for my late father, a WWII US Navy vet who served on a 'tin can", there is Wolfpack.
P.S., for the record, during the Winter of 2020-21, when I held evening classes outdoors by lantern light, my 'theme song' for my students was "Night Witches!"
Now I know this might be a little strange to hear but my favourite song from Sabaton is Shadows. I know it's before they got into the groove of historical War metal but a friend of mine from Sweden gave me a CD with that song on it and that Sabaton is a great band and to keep my eye on them! Almost 20 years later you have never disappointed!
For me, the best story is when the Bulgarians found themselves surrounded and when she saw how they were dying, she got up and stopped her comrades from shooting. Cojstvo and heroism. I'm not sure there is a word for "Cojstvo" in English. It means : Protect enemy from yourself".
With the Superbowl coming up I realized that it would be awesome if Sabaton got the chance to preform for the halftime show. It'll probably never happen but it'd still be amazing to see what kind of show they'd be able to make.
Great video, as always. But I live in the same neighborhood Milunka lived in and it not named after her, unfortunately. My grandfarther knew her. He said she was as humble and kind as one can be.
Another great female badass in the history of warfare is the Dragoon Marie Therese Figueur. She served for 22 years in the French Revolutionary Army under her own name and her own gender. She was shot several times and had several horses shot out from under her. Her exploits are pretty amazing and she even ended up serving in The Imperial Guard. Ben Thompson did a great write up on her on badassoftheweek.
My favorite Sabaton song is Last dying breath and Lady of the dark and they will forever be my favorite Sabaton songs, but I also love Red Baron, The attack of the dead man and Final solution.
My number one favourite never changes, it's 82nd All the Way, but Race to the Sea was up there at number 2 until the First Soldier released... It changes, it always changes.
I’ve been waiting for her whole story since fire tales ring about her through the song. We got more information in the animated story video. She truly was a soldier and a bad ass
My great great grand father travelled with her in through mountains. Mind you his entire family just got wiped by the enemy prior to the traveling. He survived the trip unlike 50% of the people that started it. Then went on to fight back and won. I wouldn't typing this if he didnt survive.
This is the kind of women that we want and need, as communities and humanity. Not neceserly warriors with weapons, but warriors for sure. May she rest in peace, and with her all of the women who fought for freedom across the centuries (for example the Greek women on Mani and Crete, the mothers of Spartans and the women of Souli who died dancing).
Now the immortal Milunka has her own song. Until now, they could only know her (indirectly) as a fictional Disney character in the cartoon "MULAN". Thank you from my heart.
My favourites are "The last battle" and "Union". "The last battle" because of the story of course, but also because I was born on the fifth of May and my late grandmother was called "Jenny" and survived both bombings during WW2 at Rotterdam. "Union" is brilliant because of the spirit it has. "As a union we stand and united we fall". That speaks of such power from within, fighting against the odds, with so many nations, so many different cultures but with one greater goal, one big ideal. Those 2 songs always get me
To add to that: May 5 is also Liberation Day in the Netherlands. So as a Dutchie, that's a special day. My mom always says "Yeah, it was "liberation day" for me for sure" (I was some weeks overdue😂)
Milunka Savić wasn't the only one. Sofija Jovanovic is another who was brave and great fighter. Here are some of the women who were big heroes of WW1 including 2 who were from Britain but fought in Serbia. Sofia Jovanovic Lenka Rabasovic Razna Radović Milunka Savić Slavka Tomić Ljubica Kacarevic Mara Petrovic Zivana Terzić Vasilija Vukotic Milica Miljanov (Montenegro) Milosava Perunovic(Montenegro) Jelena Saulic(Montenegro) Antonija Javornik (Slovenia) aka Natalija Bjelajac Flora Sands (Britain) Emily Luisa Simonds (Britain) These women received multiple medals from many countries for their contribution and fighting in WW1. Every single one of them is a hero.
Unfortunately I have to disappoint you. Savić means son of Sava, and ć and dž sound similar to people who don't know Serbian. By the way, my last name is Savić.
Thank you Sabaton, my all family love your music. You have done fantastic song in the honor of such as unique person and hero like Milunka Savic was: true brave and fearless in the war, but very modest in the peace times.
Great greetings from Serbia and huge thanks you man on your storyes abaut Serbian wars and Heroes in two Balkan wars and Great War! One of the bravest and strongest soldiers in WW1 that helped so many children, im so proud of me living in Serbia because of her RAISE YOUR HAND FOR THE LADY OF THE DARK!
Lady of the Dark is one of the first songs I went out of my way to read up on early in my Sabaton journey. Attack Of The Dead Men is my favorite Sabaton song followed by To Hell And Back, those 2 haven't changed. There's a lot of songs that I just simply liked that have creeped up and have grown on me since I began listening to these guys around mid 2022. Among those songs is Resist And Bite, Smoking Snakes, The Price Of A Mile, Fields Of Verdun, White Death, Rorke's Drift, Devil Dogs, and Seven Pillars Of Wisdom which is the song that really encouraged me to go through the band's entire library of music. There's many others I could've listed that are climbing up through the ranks as well and Lady of the Dark is one of them.
First, thanx for sharing another piece of history from my country, second, well, I love most of Sabaton songs, but one that is forever in my ears and head gotta be The Art of War!
It's hard to have a literal favourite piece, when you choose between songs that are all legendary. But Christmas Truce has its place in my heart, I guess I'm not the only one with that

under her own name and her own gender. She was shot several times and had several horses shot out from under her. Her exploits are pretty amazing
and she even ended up serving in The Imperial Guard. Ben Thompson did a great write up on her on badassoftheweek.
My favorite Sabaton song is Last dying breath and Lady of the dark and they will forever be my favorite Sabaton songs, but I also love Red Baron, The attack of the dead man and Final solution.
Respect for Brave Serbian woman and hero.Milunka Savic.Greeting from Bulgaria 🇧🇬
I will say, Lady of the Dark is definitely one of the top 5 Sabaton songs for me, but No Bullets Fly still has a firm grip on the top spot.
My great great grand father travelled with her in through mountains. Mind you his entire family just got wiped by the enemy prior to the traveling. He survived the trip unlike 50% of the people that started it. Then went on to fight back and won. I wouldn't typing this if he didnt survive.
Thank you Sabaton. There are so many war stories about humanity, suffering and victory in Serbian war history. Specialy in WW1 🙏🙏🙏
We have three more of our forgotten heroes: Sofija Jovanovic, Slavka Tomić and Antonija Javornik. Make a video about them. Thank you 🙏
We as simple as free people, for freedom ALWAYS. Those are words of ours grandgrand father's 🇷🇸❤️🇷🇸
Milunka Savić is basically the Mulan of Serbia
Mulan is a fairytale. Dont compare shit with reality
What is my favorite SABOTON song?
YES!
Milunka Savić wasn't the only one. Sofija Jovanovic is another who was brave and great fighter. Here are some of the women who were big heroes of WW1 including 2 who were from Britain but fought in Serbia.
Sofia Jovanovic
Lenka Rabasovic
Razna Radović
Milunka Savić
Slavka Tomić
Ljubica Kacarevic
Mara Petrovic
Zivana Terzić
Vasilija Vukotic
Milica Miljanov (Montenegro)
Milosava Perunovic(Montenegro)
Jelena Saulic(Montenegro)
Antonija Javornik (Slovenia) aka Natalija Bjelajac
Flora Sands (Britain)
Emily Luisa Simonds (Britain)
These women received multiple medals from many countries for their contribution and fighting in WW1. Every single one of them is a hero.
Thank you so much for sharing this! 🤘

Her life story is awesomely inspiring. 🤩
We think so too! 🤘
Thank you for this ❤
She live and die in Beograd,Brace Jerkovic street, two buildings near my apartment....
What a woman!!
The Serbian version of Mulan. Such a badass woman
Except Milunka was real. As huge a fan as I am of Mulan's story there's no historical record she even existed.
Dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow! This piece of history and the person in focus can hardly be compared to an animated fairy tale.
She was honored from Russia,Frence(2 time legion of honor). She had her children, but adopted others. She finished cleaning offices.Legend, died 1970ies!
@@kevinramsey417 I mean... it isnt a stretch to say Mulan was inspired by Milunka's story... 😅
@@handledhandlehandlinghandler well most of serbian turks history is fairy tale
It's about time we sing this song together!🇷🇸❤️🇸🇪
Milunka Savic 💪❤ Thank you for talk for most great woman and fighter from freedom.🇷🇸
Milunka SERBIAN HERO. Celebrating Milunka here in the heart of SERBIA
No Bullets Fly has been my favorite Sabaton song for years. Great song about an even greater story.
Yes! Just love that opening riff!
Best song on this album, in my eyes and it so refreshing to hear about women fighting throughout history in such epic and respectful way!
Finally! I was waiting for her!
Proud of Her, since I'm Serbian By Blood!
When you turn on CC, it pronounces "Savic" as "Savage" and it's both hilarious and accurate to her character 🤘😎
Unfortunately I have to disappoint you. Savić means son of Sava, and ć and dž sound similar to people who don't know Serbian. By the way, my last name is Savić.
@@lenjapita bruv you completely missed the point of my original comment. Click CC on this video and see how captions are pronouncing "Savić" surname.
Thank you Sabaton, my all family love your music. You have done fantastic song in the honor of such as unique person and hero like Milunka Savic was: true brave and fearless in the war, but very modest in the peace times.
Thank you very much for your kind words.
Thank you for the song and the story about our hero! ❤️

Together with my great-grandfather Andjelko Novkovic
, Milunka Savic went to the Balkans and then to the First World War.
Thank you Sabaton ...
Milunka Savić eternal hero. Long live Serbia!

Thank you all who brought this History to us..well done.
1916 is my current favorite its a tear jerker lol but primo victoria and bismark is what got me hooked on Sabaton.
One of the bravest and strongest soldiers in WW1 that helped so many children, im so proud of me living in Serbia because of her RAISE YOUR HAND FOR THE LADY OF THE DARK!
🤘🤘🤘
Great work Sabaton, thank you for this and many other songs! Хвала Сабатон, поздрав из Србије!
Wow Thanx... Good informed.Milunka is our Hero! 💞
Incredible work! I have been waiting to know more about her since the song came out!
Thank you Sabaton for creating an episode about this woman, she was a remarkable human beings and true role model for not only women but human race.
Cant wait for concert in Belgrade.Last dying breath and Lady of the Dark.Guys come soon pls,you will have a best concert in your lifes 🤘🤘🤘
It's hard to have a literal favourite piece, when you choose between songs that are all legendary. But Christmas Truce has its place in my heart, I guess I'm not the only one with that
