- Matt goes to the dealership and I am insanely disappointed at the insane markup for a 1LT Base model 2021 two year old C8 mid engine Corvette. I cannot believe dealerships are taking advantage of working people for a car that cost only 62,000 brand new and they’re selling it for $129,000 and the lowest he would go is $119,000 for a used two year old Corvette
This only stops when everyone quits paying over. Just stop buying. Period.
Trade-in for a 2020 Stingray is $95k. Private party is around $100k. They are still asking $20-30k over book value, which is what will kill dealerships one day. People are done being screwed over.
It is sad that the Corvette was created to be the working person's sports car, not the rich guy only car. That is why Chevy Priced the C8 base model at $59,900 back in 2020. Where they get off on six figures for a car way under is high way robbery
They're just hoping they find that one person desperate enough
Hope your right but so far stupid appears alive and well. BT Barnum always said a sucker is born every day
We're tracking markups and mandatory add-ons at our site!
The mark up is ridiculous!
The tag in the engine bay and the wheels say its a 2023. My car is at status 3000 and should be at my dealer in about 5 weeks. A lot of dealers sell them for MSRP so just order one and dont pay markup.
They overpriced because they know that GM is not going to give them any allocations from Bowling Green.
Import JDM cars. There’s great support and 1JZ, 2JZ, RBs, 4AGE, VG etc buy the NEW Z! Vet here too so when I listen to you I feel like I’m listening to myself 😂 good times🚙💨💨💨🏁🤓🏁
It’s not just cars that dealers are marking up. Gun dealers are ripping people off too.
Not sure about the car dealers, but the distributors are what's driving up the dealer prices on firearms.
There were two dealerships in my area that were notorious for markups. Many people were smart enough to go elsewhere. They are both out of business now.
I'm a car guy. But I will never pay more then MSRP for a car. And I don't even really like that. I'll just go without. There is an absurd amount of dealer greed out there.
The dealers days are numbered. It won't happen tomorrow, but it's just a matter of time before the manufactures go to an online sales model and dealerships become service and pickup departments. I'm not sure if that'll be a good thing in the long run, but at least it will drive a more consistent pricing model.
Just like Taxis dealers days are marked and not a single person will feel sorry for them. I get they're a business that employs people & they have to make money especially on cars they may not get a ton of allocations. But damn everything at the dealership is so stressful even going for service is a gray hair experience,
Love the idea , just open service centers nationwide . Then dealers cant pull the " if you didnt buy it here we wont do warranty.service" . Yes some do that and GM allows it. I wonder if these guys sell.at MSRP to someone ,buy it back with 400.miles then can mark it up.stupid to avoid GM hitting them for not selling at MSRP. Who buys a car and trades in or sells at 40 miles ? People simply need to stop paying it and they will come down.
Tellem it's not a house... It's a depreciating automobile...
right
You sell at the price people are willing to pay. Just bc I ask 1 million bucks for my 5 year old Kia does not mean it will sell for a mil 🤣
This is a 2023 ( red seats)- those wheels were not around in 2021. Base price around 69-72 now - they raised the price. The market is 100k plus on the cars no matter the year. I have a 2023 I paid 85k 2 LT but I can sell it for 105k easy.
Is he a veteran or retired military? I didn't quite catch that
Does it matter? Should he get special treatment just because?
@@flea4061most DEFINITELY
Retired military with over 21 active duty service years.
once they lie that much about changing markets, I would just be an ass and say "$50k markup? How much of that is that import tax? Tariff?"
GM Ford Dodge need to sell directly to the consumer just like Tesla does. No need for stealerships, plenty of Indy shops around.
You better report that dealership at GM and to lose their future allocation. Shame on them crooks.
Gm does nothing , I complained to exec office e about dealer refusing to provide warranty repair if didnt buy car there. There response find another place to service car. That was from executive response clowns
Can you even buy C8 or get allocation somewhere without pay over msrp?
This dealership wants to sell a C8 base model no options two year old Corvette to a veteran for more than double the price of a brand new 2023 Corvette unbelievable!
Its an absolute shame that dealers are taking advantage of the demand for the vehicle. What goes around comes around
its starts with the buyers , until they stop paying higher mark ups than dealers will stop
I would never trade my truck in lol.
I'll take that for my Red HTC 2022
only 2000 miles on mine
oh & min is a 3Lt
Turn up the volume so you can hear the stealer dealers speak

Not only a 50k markup but does anyone want a car that been sitting for that long & how many people must have sat & infected that interior
A $50,000 mark up? This guy is smoking crack!
That is one ugly Corvette. Would rather have a sweet Porsche 911.
That’s a $60,000 car, end of story! If they are in such high demand, those corvettes wouldn’t be there.
Exactly , base seats LT1 coupe 60k. People stop being stupid. Buy something else or pay original sticker . They have it.
@@Bob-in4eh Base LT1 is about 65k now, I'm about to order one with 5k in options and wait about 10 months to a year. Total about 70k, not bad.
@@joewreckingballbiden9156 yes agreed but thought this was a 20 . That was 60k . Had 21 convertable , nice car but had some quality issues so I sold it . Basically got my money back including taxs and reg . Dealer then jacked it up another 15k and listed it at 30k over original sticker . Who would pay that is beyond me but they do I guess. Ordered 23 but on wait list. Best of luck with yours
Their excuse for the extreme crazy unreasonable dealer markup is I gotta make a live in selling cars!
I like my 20' so much I wouldn't sell it only trade for the Z06
