at least imo we shouldnt blame earlier arcs for next arcs problems
    btw my biggest problems:
-Pilaf: the wish the dragon balls where used for
-21st Tournament: the comedy isnt funny
-Red Ribbon Army: lack of a main villain, lack of development for side characters
-22nd Tournament/King Piccolo: Tien disrespect, he was build up to fight against king piccolo only to get his ass kicked by a random henchman
-Piccolo Jr: did not progress the story, powercreep (its the arc where it became the most obvious when tien the once most powerfull character said he is no match for either goku or piccolo), the characters did not get any development, yamcha lost from the start again, the way tien lost was a little easy even krillin put up a fight against piccolo, didnt build up to the next arc properly (idk if it was meant to be the ending you never know with toriyama and he isnt alive anymore to confirm anything but it was so open anyone would expect a sequel at the very least and unlike the anime the manga has both z and og as 1)

This is EXACTLY how it was when I first watched Dragon Ball. I assumed it would be fast-paced like Z and Super. People on TikTok, especially during the first ever “anitok” era:
People would hype up Dragon Ball to unfairly compare it to One Piece, but they would also be forcing and actually BULLYING anyone who hasn’t ever watched the original series, especially if you’ve already watched DBZ/Super. Was it worth it? Yes, but I don’t want to be bullied into watching something that takes a while to speed up.

OG Dragon Ball remains my favorite out of everything in the franchise, and I really love the points you make for each. You explain your thoughts really well, and whether I agree or disagree, I enjoy listening to them. Dragon Ball is a very flawed series imo, but it's such a guilty pleasure for me! If I can sum up what I think are the flaws of each arc to me:
-Pilaf: How quickly the dragon balls were gathered and how the wish was made in the first arc. Immediately took away the air of mystery behind the orbs, though to my understanding, the story wasn't originally going to go beyond this arc. While it forced the story to pivot, it highlights the series struggle early on with keeping the dragon balls relevant, thus turning them into convenient plot devices.
-21st Tenkaichi Boudokai: Hard to think on this one, but probably just comes down to some convenient plot contrivances on how some battles are won.
-Red Ribbon: Probably the arc I disagree the most with your opinions, but also agree with where you come from, as I view it more as Goku's journey and growth as a character as the world is explored, whereas the Red Ribbon army just serve as the push he needs. That said, if I'm going on a flaw here, I'd have liked to have seen more time with some of the commanders. They had some unique designs and ideas that were heavily underutilized. The anime made up for it a little bit, but I would have liked to have seen more.
-22nd Tenkaichi Boudokai/Piccolo Daimo Arc: Probably the most flawed DB arc to me. 22nd TB is peak, but as for Piccolo, I can think of two things. One, Goku getting his power-up at Korin/Karin's. Just drinks water, no challenge. The anime does fix this for me. Another is just with how brutal King Piccolo is, his failing in making sure Goku is really dead despite how competent he is. It works for the progression, but lessens him as being smart to me. Overall, the arc does feel rushed for the sake of plot contrivance.
Also, completely agree with the power scaling issue here and how it affects the future of the series!
-23rd Tenkaichi Boudokai/Piccolo Jr.: I reach here too, but it's something Dragon Ball has done since near the beginning, and it gets more apparent as the series goes on, which is using characters who aren't Goku as a setup for failure to show how strong the villain is. Vegeta becomes the punching bag for this later, but I gotta point out Yamcha here. He gets treated this way since the 21st tournament. He's treated as a strong fighter by heresay, but tends to get the most losses just to show how strong the villain is, and at this point, it's just recurring.
I understand why it's done, but I'd like to wish there were other ways to show the threat of the villain other than turning side characters into punching bags. Yes, I wanna defend Yamcha, but it's honestly a thing the series does as a whole. I just feel this arc is where it really starts to feel the most blatant as Goku and Piccolo stand farout from the rest of the cast at this point.
To anyone who read my bad opinions, thanks! This series is always fun to talk about!

Hot take: Dragon Ball as a whole is better than Z as a whole. I also believe the series peaked from the 22 Martial Arts Tournament to the Saiyan and Frieza saga

@@yourfinestlocalidiot I started with Z as a kid like most Americans growing up so Dragon Ball is cool in some parts but doesnt have the big power feel or stakes imo
