All this AND the song being a response to the forced migration of the Pintupi people from Western Desert to Northern Territory. After watching the movie "The Sapphires," I realized that the Aborigines in Australia and my Native American people have more in common than I ever thought. A great song and reaction, Shawn.

Loved this reaction! Thanks so much Shawn😊 I should have also mentioned...Midnight Oil had refused to play in South Africa during apartheid...this was the first time they ever played there. The video description says this concert was a celebration of Nelson Mandela's inauguration. I have sweet memories of the places I've seen them play this song too, including a festival in the Swiss Alps (which was headlined by Midnight Oil one night and The Cure another night!) when I was seventeen. It was magical, and I will never forget the energy of the crowd during all of their songs, especially this one.

Having only ever seen the official "Beds Are Burning" video, which is really great, it was amazing to see Midnight Oil live on stage in South Africa, and getting the audience totally involved. Peter Garrett, all 6'6", or so, of him dancing, singing and pulling folks from the crowd was completely involving and it looked like a big vibe. Mr. Garrett was later elected to the Australian Parliament, not sure if he is still there or not, but his energy would suggest he is.

They were just a beast live - so glad we have plenty of footage of them playing.
Check out one of the greatest live concerts ever recorded.
'Oils on Water' - live 1985 from Goat Island - every track is brilliant but maybe start with 'Stand in Line' or 'Only the Strong'
The power and passion of the performance is just off the charts.

Have you done their "Forgotten Years"? It's about the foot soldiers of the Great War (first world war). Hit the official video. Part is filmed in one of those cemetaries in northern France with thousands upon thousands of white crosses/gravestones. Powerful as a freight train.

I thought I'd leave another suggestion for a new female artist to give a listen, if interested. "Sarah McLachlan - Angel (Video)" (by the channel: The Official Sarah Mclachlan) --This song is by Canadian singer and songwriter Sarah McLachlan, and it is from her fourth studio album called "Surfacing" released in 1997.

LIVE music sucks for the purpose of reaction videos. The lyrics are hard to decipher. I know this song, but you didn't. And you really still dont because you chose the live version. There is a reason that 99.9% of "official" versions of songs are studio versions.
