I don't hate Billy, but he has the same problem as many other S9-S12 characters. He has the potential to be a good character, but nothing has been done with the potential.
I wonder how the fanbase would've reacted if Billy and Charlie were introduced in the same episode ?😆

For me, Don't Be Silly Billy is quite an underappreciated episode.
I don't like it, but it had a lot of potential. A mature Thomas is tasked with mentoring his flawed S1 self, and despite how insufferable Billy is, Thomas still tries to help him. The ending of the episode with Billy calling Thomas 'really useful' and Thomas feeling satisfied with his success is actually quite heartfelt.
However, the episode's failed in execution by being a repetitive three strikes formula one. However, I would choose this one over many other S11 eps like Thomas and the Big Bang, Smoke and Mirrors, Toby's Triumph etc, because at least no one's out of character in DBSB.

Personally I hate Billy but I feel like if he had more episodes to have a character arc I could've ended up enjoying him. It's a shame he didn't get a character arc

I personally don't hate Billy at all. I like to think he's hated just because he was another one off character just to sell toys.
Had that era still had the classic era writting and more care and thought put into it Billy would of had more of a chance (or if he reappeared).

I'll be honest with you, I'm pretty biased when it comes to this episode. The plot is just as simple as it is when it comes to the Hit Era.
If this was classic Thomas, he'll be 10 times more harsh to Billy and wouldn't stand for his rebellion. With a little rewrite, I can definitely see this be a season 5 episode as that was the season when Thomas has out actually grown up, so to have that Billy episode happened in that season would further indicate how far Thomas has gone since series 1. But that's just my opinion.

I don't think "Don't be silly, Billy" is the worst episode of S11. There are worse ones like "Thomas and the Big Bang" or "Edward and the Mail" or "Toby's Triumph“.
