Based. I totally agree on the point that both Minecrafts (old and new) are good. Each has its strong and weak sides, each has different appeal to it. Truly, there is no perfect Minecraft, hence we have mods.
I enjoy 1.12.2 and 1.7.10 I disagree new minecraft after 1.16.5, are suck, zero optimization to multiplayer and world cave generation, this makes me die
0:48 It’s true that there’s nothing to do in the pale garden other than acquire decoration, but to say there’s nothing to do in the deep dark is COMPLETELY wrong. There’s experience points, there’s sculk sensors, there’s swift sneak, there’s the recovery compass, and there’s enchanted golden apples. The loot is maybe slightly underpowered, but it’s still ABSOLUTELY worth getting.
I totally agree with this take, actually. I reckon both are good, in different ways! They're very clearly aiming to do different things, and both of them succeed in providing a fun game. One is a sandbox game with very light survival mechanics (alpha, beta), and the other is an adventure survival game with some very light RPG mechanics. I just love this game in its entirety :)
This gets at the essential difference for me. Additions of RPG elements like enchanting, villages and villagers, bosses, and the End have introduced Mojang/Microsoft's ideas about what my worlds should be like instead of sticking to adding to the sandbox.
I never grew up with Beta Minecraft. I was a wee lad (I'm 14 atm), and the first MC update I personally can remember playing was 1.13 when I was, what, 7? But after I got Java, about a year back, and moved from bedrock, I wanted to see what I missed. I went to 1.7.3 (since that was the one I had heard the best things about) and have a small survival world on that version now. The thing that I came to the conclusion of wasn't that old MC was overhyped by nostalgia (but I mean maybe a little considering some folks say it's where MC peaked) but rather that it encouraged a tiny bit more creativity - but not that new MC doesn't. Both encourage creativity, in a variety of ways. Let's use a metaphor; see both new MC and old MC as two different toyboxes. New MC has a HUGE amount of toys, and to have fun, you can mix and match toys in ways that are new to YOU! Use bricks as a roof, some terracotta as a wall, maybe throw in some logs in the corners, etc. Meanwhile, in older MC, the toybox is relatively less full. But you can try to use your creativity to make something new with the limits you have. New MC, you go on a journey to vanquish a literal dragon and gain the ability to fly - old MC, you build infrastructure and roads, bridges and tracks. New MC, you build a town for villagers so you can keep them around - old MC, you build a town for yourself. One is more of a adventure game with all the content; in newer MC, you venture into the Deep Dark for loot, and the Warden is supposed to be a punishment (hence why no drop). The other is a sandbox game with light survival mechanics; in old MC, you build a house both because you can and because you should probably try to survive the creepy crawlies of the night. They both have plenty of quirks, but I believe they are both lovable in their own ways. Anyway, that's my 2 cents, that they're both equally awesome in their own ways. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Fun fact: On a windows pc, you can use the minecraft bedrock launcher, but the launcher is not associated or approved by mojang like it said. This'll only work when you have bought the game or have an xbox game pass subscription on your microsoft account. So yea there is a way to install an older version of bedrock. On an android device, just simply install an apk (or ipa if on ios) which is the version you want to download. Hope this helps! ("for those who dont know" comments be like:) If theres anything more related to this, remind me to edit this. alr ima get sleep i got tired when writing this 🥱😴
As someome who played this game since 2012 during legacy console days, i think both old version and new version of minecraft are both good. Yeah they have there flaws but there still very charming and wonderful. People should be thankful that we can still play old mc versions unlike other games.
I love the new minecraft but I wish they would bring back the old world format, I remember when you had the option to make the world a big square and it wasn’t infinite (I’m talking about bedrock btw xD)
old minecraft isn't scared to add new mechanics, new blocks, new items that drop from a new mob and a totally new dimensions. new minecraft is based around adding more stuff in stuff that already existed, like revamping? and it isn't that bad but you can't expect a new dimension because they are scared to change the game so they want to keep it as similar as possible
my preferred middle ground between modern n old is using mods like NostalgiaCraft and Modern Beta, which adds the old terrain gen and classic game mechanics back while not compromising modern elements like temples, mansions, villages, caves, mobs, dimensions etc. highly prefer playing this over even unmodded Beta, plus it fixes a lot of notorious bugs n such
I wholeheartedly disagree that the only two arguments are simplicity and nostalgia! I have enjoyed playing new Minecraft as well, would simply state that the two different version areas provide entirely different experiences because of the differences. I could bring up about 100 different arguments if you ever wanted to shoot a dm :P
Some random dude: "I kinda like the new 1.21.4 update" That one mf who can't process other people's opinions over nostalgia: "GRRR HOW DAER U DOESNT SAE U LIEK OLT MINDFART GO BACC TO WATHC SKIBID TOILED ON UR MOM IPAD GRR"
The way I see it, there are VERY few updates that actually make the game WORSE. There’s the combat update, sure. (Though I VASTLY prefer post-combat update. And I think even the people who liked the old version only liked the old PvP, not the old PvP, which was an absolute JOKE; not even endermen posed any challenge). And sure, sometimes useful bugs get patched. (Like 1.21.4 patching my FAVORITE bug of sprinting while sneaking/blocking/shooting/eating. And seeing as all it adds is decoration, I’m staying in 1.21.3.) Also old Minecraft worldgen was often much cooler, with its floating island and small but strange mountains. But beyond those things, I really feel like it’s mostly just nostalgia. The Nether update and Caves and Cliffs in particular have made MASSIVE improvements to the core gameplay. I tried playing 1.6 Minecraft and honestly it was vastly inferior. You can say that updates these days are worse than the updates of yesterdecade, but I feel like saying the game as a whole is worse is very incorrect.
I can refute that generalization: I didn't start playing until after the golden age so I can't be nostalgic for it. Now that I have played modpacks based on the old versions, like BTA, I can say that I prefer the old Minecraft.

Do you mean Beta 1.7.3 or Official Release 1.7.3?
@ Sorry for not clarifying, Beta 1.7.3
Dang that some pretty good accurate comparison
These are some good points!
Hmm, it appears that we both had a similar experiance with minecraft and similer opinions.

Next time you do one of these talk and builds, you should build Fortbuscus
Haha I never actually watched Tobuscus as a kid, idk fortbuscus really. But I'll try to build it :)
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder :3
As someone who prefers Better Than Adventure over modern I respect the people who prefer modern
Atleast newer and older versions dont have the marketplace.

No way its you.
they are for different kinde of gameplay...
old minecraft (up to 1.8) is for survival.
new minecraft (past 1.8) is for creative mode

I once said that my favorate update was 1.20 and then someone in the replys called me a microsoft fanboy.

hi snowman its me reindevfan
Yet again new video about old minecraft nostalgia that adds nothing to discussion. But hey, it's popular topic, gonna record some stuff
Both, both are good
I always say this for the video like this
New Minecraft is objectively better and people that like old Minecraft are just because nostalgia
The modern here is referring to Java, I think i need to clarify that
you can play older bedrock using unofficial bedrock launcher
its just minecraft but with more stuff in it. whats the big deal?
true
Why do you sound like ur on the verge of tears?
11 views in 1 minute bro fell off 💀
That's a joke dont cook me pls
cool video
People are blinded by nostalgia. The thing is, everything seemed better as kids, and we just keep chasing that fun that we had.
Maybe to you. Some things truly were better before and some things are definitely better now. Nostalgia isn’t everything.
I can refute that generalization: I didn't start playing until after the golden age so I can't be nostalgic for it. Now that I have played modpacks based on the old versions, like BTA, I can say that I prefer the old Minecraft.
No
1.12.2 best version fight me
Honestly, old minecraft was good but in no way was it better than modern MC. its nostalgia, you see.
na I dont even have nostagia for beta minecraft and still like it as my preferd version for singleplayer
Not nostalgia
Definitely an aspect of it, but that's not everything.
Most goldens actually started playing well after the golden age.
Why is it always about nostalgia lol. I didn't even play the beta version of the game and I still prefer its artstyle and gameplay over the new one
