If somebody point a gun on me, I would just pull the guard, De la riva or x-guard and wait him to give up.
"That's like a double leg on my arm." Perfect summary of a move literally seconds after having seen it. Cool stuff. I love the concepts here
Burton is top notch, totally an OG. He started bjj in 1992!
This not only applies Jiujitsu technique to a self defense situation, but applies the jiujitsu philosophy as well! As a former member of the armed forces, I find this invaluable!
Didn't expect that gun....even with the title.... lol
Excellent!!! been waiting for this to come out for a while. Love training with Burton at JKDU Hawaii. One of the most humble people I’ve ever met.
If a dude pulls a gun on me I will not be pulling guard
@YeshuaMyLord No I wouldn't. I just feel learning this kind of "self-defence" is dangerous. If a guy has a gun just give up the wallet.. not worth the risk of dying..
@@GKang93 True. Only use this if you have to. Keeping a wallet or phone isn't worth it. But there are those rare times this can be useful.
I don't mean to start an argument, but what if he doesn't want your wallet? What if he wants your wife, your child, or your life?
@@zipcode305 EXACTLY! It's like they just come to comment from their cloud of knowledge, without even understanding the CONTEXT of the video. Thank you
Try a Flouride detox, paying attention and critical thinking are lacking.
Practical and well thought out. Great information!
This is an excellent program that adds important elements to your BJJ arsenal in a street situation. The techniques are continually tested by competent fighters against real resistance. I am a police detective with 19 years in and I have personally witnessed the development and evolution of this program.
LOVE THIS! MORE PLEASE!
Great headline!
Skepticism is healthy, cynicism is not. Skeptical people would say 'I'm not convinced until I try it'. Cynical people say 'It's probably not going to work, I won't try it.' I would suggest that people commenting here just try the techniques out in sparring before commenting. I learned some of this material from Burton in Hawaii 10 years ago and it is the highest percentage stuff I have tried (and I have tried a lot!) Burton's approach is scientific and tested. I recommend all martial artist who are interested in self defence to at least give this material a fair chance- when you actually spar- then you'll know ;)
When trained properly BJJ can work in a self defense situation. To many people train only the sport aspect of this and not train the self defense portion.
Not realistic if someone pulled a gun or doesn't what belt you have the gun will win...couple bjj black belt lost their life fighting someone with gun...gun always win but good training I guess
I believe the idea is not to run head long into a confrontation with a gun, but instead what if someone pulls a gun during a grappling exchange in a real fight? Just like I would hate for the first time I get arm barred to be in a real fight, I would hate for the first time I dealt with a gun pull on the ground to be in a real fight. I'd rather have some technique as an answer. That said, no technique is 100%, it's a fight, but I'd rather be prepared
Gun does not always win.
I thought it was just one BB that died. I saw the footage adn he died because he pulled a double leg like a fucking white belt.
I would modify it by using an airsoft pistol. You'd have to wear eye and face protection for sure, but at least you would know if you could do it under pressure.
Great video! A paradigm shift for many I'm sure. Mandatory if you want to increase your percentage of survuval.
Necessary concepts being expressed here!
I agree with this guy. It might seem to be taking things too far, but this is the reality of self-defense. I wouldn't even be against the idea of sparring against multiple opponents. God help you if you get taken down. I love BJJ but I'm not suicidal enough to use it against more than one person. It's not bad though for blocking attacks with the legs and standing back up.
great idea to roll with a gun. Should be on every LEO's list
With a real gun it's easy to bump it out of chamber so it wont fire, and also easy to introduce a malfunction if you can get the slide far enough back
We love 💗 💕 ❤️ Bernardo!!!!!!
It's okay, to have man crush 🤙🏼
That shirt he has on is awesome. Where can I get one?
The point of the video is to be aware of the hands, especially while on the ground. Obviously if someone pulls a gun out while I'm standing I'll give them what they want, no sense getting killed for my wallet. So maybe while on the ground JiuJitsu doesn't change, but the priorities change. Redirect and Control. You redirect so you don't get shot and you control so they don't get another chance.
I have a high concept of this... Would it be better to rotate gun away from you verses how in this video if you do the rotation as shown there is the possibility of him pulling the trigger the moment the gun passes by your head.. Where if you rotate gun away from you it will hit the ground if fired...
In the begin part
It's hard to see from the camera angle but the barrel is never pointed at his head.
Badass
Lol noooooo bahahahahaha. I pull guns out while playing guard all the time.
What if they pull it out when they're already in your guard? You just die?
This is satire right?
Not if you're from Compton.
Dax Alexander I'm afraid not, but I wish it were
ruclips.net/video/iJljFYextyk/видео.html&edufilter=NULL guns while fighting ain't no joke my man.
Double leg on the arm... i like that
BJJ doesn't work against guns or knives
Better than nothing...
Mathew 6 I disagree. This gives a false sense of security and actually puts people in more danger. If a mugger pulls a gun on someone, instead of just running away or giving them money/phone or bother they may try these techniques and get themselves killed. You may say, what if the guy doesn't want money, they just want to kill the victim? Then guess what, you're not gonna see the knife until it's too late - the attack will be most likely an ambush - you can find plenty of examples on RUclips. The only real application would be in case of a rape or kidnapping (the second is unlikely to be attempted by a single person - and using knife defense against multiple opponents is a fantasy). Finally, it's not real knife defence because there's no real resistence. There's a bunch of people who try that, and it looks nothing like the attacks here.
@@beyondmeaning It's all in the training. No one says this will always keep you safe. The point is to keep realistic possibilities in mind as you train. RUclips also has plenty of examples of muggers and attackers being disarmed and or neutralized. The point is to make your training as realistic as possible while still training safely. Here's a good example. ruclips.net/video/iw4ft1L5a3U/видео.html&edufilter=NULL
