Bernardo is the most humble black belt I have ever herd talk, this guy you’d think he was a nobody if to passed him in the street, 6x world champ and zero ego, that’s the biggest lesson for everyone
I’ve only just started watching these BJJ fanatics videos and I honestly thought Bernardo was like a white belt who discovered a business opportunity and had connections somehow to get all these BJJ players to make videos. I had no idea of what you wrote above about him being a 6x world champ.
@@markopolo6640 yes, he's an amazing black belt multiple time world champion as already stated. He's one of my favorite Jiu-jitsu practitioners but he's retired now from competition. Look up his pressure passing and over/under pass. It's brutal. So simple yet so incredibly effective at the highest levels even.
Thanks mate Ile check it out
Lmao so true. I saw him get inducted into ibjff hall of fame and was like “what the fuck, that’s the BJJ fanatics guy” 😂
@@GagnonTV i'm always surprised at how many people don't know he was world class competitor. Even retired, he probably has the best over under pass in gi to this day
Bernardo sounds like the nicest, happiest dude
I love Bernardo and all of his videos. That said, he sounds like a Brazilian Kermit the Frog 🐸!!!
If Kermit could kick ass.
Cannot unhear it, just like Jordan Peterson.
Maybe that's his secret, he has that voice that has been your best friend since the beginning of time...
Lazerecho yes!!! My bro and I say that about Peterson all the time! He's definitely Kermit with a mild Canadian accent 😂
No disrespect Bernardo!!!
Bernardo is the best guy around! So glad we have him in the ju jitsu community!
Such a good guy
His first instructional has upped my passing skills 10 fold. Guys a genius
Using your inner leg to keep their outside leg out of the equation seems like a key detail.
It takes aways their de la riva attacks and other transitions. A very important detail that's easy to neglect in drilling I think
I appreciate Gordon Ryan for sharing the knowledge.
“Gwuardun Ryan” I love Bernardo
literally watched this today and managed to put so much of it into effect at training this evening, genius m8 👏
Fucking love this guy he’s so happy to collaborate with anyone willing to offer knowledge
Excited for this video to come out.
Thank you for uploading
It's a huge honor for me to watch this.
🤣
excellent demo and explanation. in this, I see a lot of the principles of tai chi but expressed through bjj, just lovely.
Great concepts ---- thank you, dudes!
Thanks Gordon and Bernardo, will try this stuff!
thank you for the video
Thanks for posting
Bernardo has the best attitude in BJJ. Well him and Marcelo. Ty for this great content. Ty Gordo. Grats on adcc 2019

How can you not like Bernardo such a nice pleasant guy always so full of positive energy
Yo this was great.
Starts at 1:30
Goat
Thank you.
god bless you
can't wait for next black friday
Bernardo has the legs of a werewolf and is a bjj beast ..& has the most insightful videos for ground fighting and has the best guests 💪 keep posting them Bernardo love your channel 😀 👍
Bernardo "Huge honor for me" Faria
Wow, Gordon sounds a lot like John Daneher.
I scrolled down just to see if someone else thought this!
Emperor Danaher and Darth Ryan
Sonoridade, entonação total de quem está falando português....quando Gordon começa falar, aí a mente entende q é inglês
😂🤣😂
Love it
Cool system.
awesome
Bernardo is the best!
I hope Gordon spends more time with Bernardo. That’s a good mentor.
GR is progressing into a wizard.
I think this is when Gordons stomach was at its worst. He looks delirious and much smaller than normal
Amazing he was still able to be so articulate
If you take Bernando and Gordon and fuse them together, you'll get one single full head of hair.
This is awesome. Gordon has taken the floating pass to the next level.
Sick kick drum @2:28
Cheers
best channel
Is the reference point for where your heavy hands to be placed along the shoulder line or any where above the shoulder line?
Heavy on the arms instead of the hips, interesting...
Makes sense to me. I don't like how immobile I am with heavy hips.
How well does this guard pass system work for gi, does it change the dynamics of this since they can grab your lapel, sleeves, or pants?
Gordon is not given his due credit. The guy already rivals Marcelo's greatness.
Interesting. Very similar to Reilly Bodycomb's approach, actually.
Does this type of guard passing work for short grapplers ? Ty
Hi. The telephone lock/reverse/straight armbar are sometimes an issue here. How to avoid?
I wanna make a cartoon and use Bernardo’s voice lol Grreat stuff though
Gordon Ryan is the "GOAT". These are moves no one teaches
I’m here cause Andrew Wiltse said I should buy Gordon’s guard passing DVD, but I can’t afford it.
I just realized I have never heard Gordon Ryan speak and have always had some imaginary voice in my head when I read his IG posts. He sounds nothing like I imagined. I got to track down a video or Nicky speaking.
Jose Juarez thank you...i thought i was the only one
Nicky sounds normal to me
Só fera
What if your opponent traps your arms or pushes your elbows while you have « heavy hands » ?
He is a wizard
Bernardo is the true NMF. Wonderboy needs to send the belt.
So is this efficient in the gi or is this harder because of grips it looks like your opponent can attach more easily in gi .
Dope
4:39 -> that's beautiful an all... but whats stopping the guy on bottom from trapping you into a (4:39)deep half G, (1:56)Single leg, inside X, outside X or worst ashi garami? ...
Well i guess i know what i am buying myself for my birthday :)
Poderia colocar a tradução !
Brian Jordon blinked at least 2000 times during this video
Dudes passing is legit
It’s called floating passing, and the first one to do it is Caio Terra.
4:47 Gordon, I believe the term you were looking for is "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes". "Knees and Toes".... but otherwise, great stuff. ruclips.net/video/TSdeIhmv6v0/видео.html
Ossssss thank you 🙏🏽
This should be a drill for class. Instead of standing pummels, should do it with legs from the heavy hands position. Then switch with your partner.
My boy looks liked he passed out with his socks on and his buddies shaved his head lol
Dis some proper pro shit
Gordon always looks pissed sitting through the intros
can that pummel system be adapted to Gi? I see why not if they take the bait by grabbing the ankles then my arms are free to go heavy there
callsignViper try it!!
the problem i have with this is most certainly they will grab the lapel when you close the distance ; the percentage is not 100 percent therefore you can potentially be left in a bad spot, thanks for comment but I play around with it
It’s very difficult in the gi because of the grips. Good luck!
@@Jacob-ps5cl agree
This passing system seems applicable only if you're a taller guy like Gordon. If you're short your legs will probably be TOO light and you'll get swept.
I'm a bit surprised that Gordon is discussing his game in such detail at this stage of his career.
🤑
He doesnt expose any significant details with this. There are no secret principles, it's up to you to experiment.
He does in the instructional. It's extremely detailed. He said he's so far ahead of his competition at this stage it doesn't matter.
@@thejchristopher Where can I find this instructional? I'm really excited to learn
You’d still have to train with those guys to get near their level and even then it’s mostly god-given. Being a champion is more than just hard work and knowledge you have to be born with it too.
Why does gordon always look annoyed
He thinks he’s above everyone
Tks for capition in portuguese
Sounds good. Now only 100 years practice more and I can start to use the momentum
Does this work in GI Grappling?
yes but its limited
dang...he blinks as if possessed
👏
With heavy hands, doesn't that leave you open to arm bars, due to them being extended.
I'm drilling this today. Does this work no-gi?
no
Didn't understand why to pummel outside leg when it is already outside
What I’m worried about with this heavy hands light hips tactic is getting my back taken from a deep half entry.
Combat is rock paper scissors, there's always a counter
@@TheRosyCodex yeah but gordon isn't going to get his back taken from there just because a deep half entry is "scissors to paper" in your analogy. So there's something he's doing to shut it down
in the live rolling video numerous people try to get deep half and he shuts it down pretty easy. he predicts it well, because hes light and can feel their movement. as kit dale says, cant feel a heart beat with a stiff hand. even if they do get deep half hes so light hes hard to contyrol
"Heavy on the arms instead of the hips" I wonder if this works when your opponent is way heavier than you, cause I´ve tried it before and I get swept.
Or what about cutting armbar on the planted hands
That’s What i thought as Well.
