First decent drone I've bought! It's a damn joke! Its unreal how dji is able to be such a successful business when they can't get the most BASIC function to work! TRASH TRASH TRASH
My app do not crases but i experience some other problems,like RC signal lost when i conect my Usb-c Otg cable from RC-to my Huawei P30 pro and everry time app ask my do i want to charge mobile or do i want to share media files with DJI Fly App....soo....i's not good....i am afraid to go out and fly...
had this issue and uninstalled it and downloaded new version and then installed now fine

700 dollars "smart controller" runs android and work flawlessly but dji for some reason recomend apple hyperexpensive crap.

My android 10 s10+ doesn't work either. Just get a white screen with the DJI logo but never loads.
My older android 9 S9 works so far, lucky I kept it.
DJI need to update their app quickly lots of people understandably unhappy and will return the drone soon. If it will take a few weeks they should put some comms out so people know they're addressing the issue.
how i wish that the dji fly app uses the same compatibilities with the dji go4 app since most people who were able to install the dji go 4 app were not able to install dji fly app due to incompatibility issues like having android versions below 6.0. Its really an extra cost for everyone when you need to buy a phone or tablet just to be able to use the dji fly app. We would really appreciate Dji would look into this matter. Thank you.
Wow, that makes it even worse the fact that a previous version was more compatible... DJI need to sort this out.

This is true because i had to buy a new phone and still the app will not install very poor quality for a dji app..😠
Same issues here. Worked initially now the controller will not connect with anything other than an iphone or ipad. Android and PC not connecting. Anyone know how to hard reset the mini controller.

Yes. I did everything i was supposed to do. Watch a ton of videos and still nothing. Then the remote kept beeping until the battery died

I'm grateful there was an update for my Sony phone, but they need to expand further.
I have a galaxy s4 I took the mavic mini out for a maiden voyage, first flight watched it go up and away. I haven't seen it since. I've been hitting the return to home button for 2 weeks. Where did it go?? Disappointed!

Wouldn't run on my LG V20 either (a phone on dji approved devices list, by the way). So, I downloaded ALL of the dji control apps, loaded them in the background, then loaded dji fly...and it worked! I have since discovered that if I load dji pilot and THEN load dji fly, I can get it to work. I was very close to returning my Mavic Mini since I wasn't willing to spend another several hundred dollars just to get a device that would run dji fly. What in the world is dji's problem??? Hey dji, create an app that will run on just about anything (as your competitors have done). I have seen reviews where people returned their Mini just because of the app issues. You're losing sales, dji. Pay attention here!

Most iPhone work great with it. Android is a hit and miss... My Xperia XZ2 Compact works fine with it.
Best email DJI and seem if they have an updated list.
I had an red iphone 7+ 264gb and samsung a71 both are not connecting to controller.
Can't even connect on my Android devices, and all are on the approved device list. Won't even install on most of them. Unsigned app needs to be download from DJI, not the play store, manually installed.

Hi, I bought a Huawei p smart 2019. It is not in the compatible list by Dji but it works well. 139 euros here in Finland.
Does anyone know if this problem still exists? When I actually manage to connect it just loses connection constantly mid flight... I have a Huawei P20 Pro.

Sadly after trying to install the DJI Fly app on my LG X power and having been informed that their was no compatible device to install it on, I've cancelled my order for the Mavic mini.....maybe next year?
What a shame, let's hope they add more compatibility to other devices next year... :o

I've got the same problem with a Sony xperia xz2 and can't get it working. Once the drone is attached it constantly crashes!
Really sucks and what's worse is DJI aren't providing helpful responses - then the cheek to say "Thank you for choosing DJI Product" with no solution and me explaining I can't use it with my phone.
I've only been able to test it using my friend's iPhone...

That's great news. I haven't had a problem with the app in my xz2. Saying that. I only downloaded it two days ago so guess the update was already applied. I do have a question though. I have only flown my mini briefly, test flight for about 2 mins, indoors (work work work) 😐 I want to take it out properly this weekend, but when looking at tutorials, it always seems to be on an iPhone and they press the photo button and display the sub menu for video resolution, fps, etc. However. On my xz2 I press the photo button and it just takes a photo. Do you know how to access the sub menu for these features on andriod/xz2. Thanks in advance. 😊
I have a Samsung Galaxy A20, 64Bit, Usb debugging Enabled, Android 10, Dji Latest App. And I just bought a Mavic Mini and I haven't been able to connect it's Remote Via Type C cable to My phone. Sometimes my phone recognises it as Charging?
I tested out it with my friend's Apple Iphone, Works fine, Connects. But my android Doesn't.
Should I buy an Expensive Apple Iphone?

As of May 29th 2020 tried to download flyby app on my Blackview A60 android phone and says Your device isn't compatible with this version, too bad was going to get this little drone, but not buying another phone on top of the drone, so bye bye DJI
They're missing out on so many sales due to their lack of support...

Anyone have an issue where the USB C cable does not go into the Remote?
Mine connects and wont crash on the note 10 Plus but the app version on the app says. 1.3 but support says update your app. On play store it says its 1.4 and up to date.

Tried to download DJI fly app on my Samsung A6+no chance,the phone is not compatible,allthough it has 64 bit processor.The app also requires Android 6 or higher op system.

If you are able to download, install and open the DJI Fly app, there's a good chance it will be compatible; it's been 3 years since this video so I would like to think DJI have ironed out the issues 😬

@@nedgregory2246 it's a shame DJI haven't done more for clarity on compatibility 😅 but fingers crossed you can get the app to work, that should be a positive sign if it does.
So, I just spoke direct to DJI since I have just tried flying my mini (not working obviously due to the app) and they have told me late January 2020 there may be a possible fix.
Fingers crossed it's not a "may" and turns into a definite fix 😅

The latest phones should be okay, but it's best to check with DJI.

Caution: Do Not Purchase the Mavic Mini unless you use Apple products. I wish I had known and will now have to return my Mini Mavic to B&H Photo. If DJI released a list of phones they don't plan to work with it would have saved time. No DJI Fly App available for most samsung phones including the a10e and 10note. Cable is also too short to even test my other Samsung tablet. I'm really glad I put down money on the Skydio 2 a few months ago.
I purchased the mini without knowing that it is only compatible with apple products. I can't calibrate my mini with my note 8.

DJI dropped an update this morning fixing some crashing bugs for various smartphones, mine was included in that update 🙂
Now to wait for the bad weather to pass... 😅
Same here where I live I've noticed that these RUclips channels where people are having all types of problems with their phones or the DJI drones not one of those channels belongs to an American and there's a reason for that our Samsung Android devices are different a lot of our Androids devices are different but also our DJI remote controls are different too I wouldn't worry too much about that DJI compatible list just make sure that your Android device is running a Snapdragon chip and make sure that's a newer phone and because the app is no longer through the Play store it's an APK file the Google Play store is going to flag it so take care of those issues you shut Google Play protect off
I may be completely wrong but...if you go to the DJI website, they outline all the Android devices that the Mavic Mini will work with. I'm thinking you have an Android that is not compatable? My best guess... Good luck!!
They did an update for the phone I had shortly after this video, but there's still many Android phone incompatibilities; unless they've updated it since, originally they didn't state all the compatible phones.
Anyone with an iPhone though are pretty much sorted as the DJI app works flawlessly with most models.

You would think that because of a technical error, they would be liable, but who knows whether they would replace a drone you technically don't have... :(

I have the same issue with Huawei p20 pro and i am using my secondary device Iphone 6S until this issue resolved by DJI.
With IOS is running like charm.
Did the iphone s6 work with no problems? How is the viewing on the small screen of the s6? Very curious, as I may get a used one for my mini as I just cannot connect with my current LG G6...grrr
@@stevenshackelford1937 well is quite hard on a small screen, i am making thoughts of buying an ipad mini.
One other thing you might find interesting, is that the Refresh extended warranty will not cover any repairs to your controller, mine has failed after only a few months, 6.4 hours of flight, it’s an out of pocket expense for me.
Oh, I had no idea the controller wasn't covered. Would have thought it be covered...

just got mine 2 days ago and having same issue
If my LG V20 phone is fully charged above 97%, it works fine for duration of flight. If the phone charge drops below 95%, It says RC connection error. Have Apple phone I6 and works fine at any amount of charge.

They have 2 options to fix this. Either make the DJI Fly app compatible with older 32-bit android. Or, add the Mavic mini to the DJI Go 4 app.

I've seen a couple of people mention it works on their Note 8, so I would be very concerned if a more advance model wasn't. Based on that it should be good.

Bought dji mavic mini today. I have Android Hauwei... Can't get fly softwear to work. Took drone back and got a refund.

They never tell you it has to be 64 bit operating system to work. Sad but true for some people.

So basically it doesnt work with older and cheaper models.
When this video was released, almost a year ago, there were a lot of up to date phones that did not work.
iPhones, even some of the older models worked perfectly.

The remote control always charges my Samsung note 9 and drains the battery of the controller
I've heard that's something they're supposed to be fixing, but surprised they haven't done that yet...
All drones go into charge phone protocol with android just make its charged & your good
RC won't connect with mobile device (pixel 3 XL) when RC is actually linked to the drone. Can fly manually, but without the app. Which is pretty pointless really :)
Need to buy a iShit device.
Try a USB 3 cable and a micro USB adaptor onto the usb-C connector. Data transfer will be increased.

Not working with note 8. Everything goes fine but the IMU calibration error comes and can't be calibrated.

Just updated my Galaxy s10 plus to Android 10, and now the app won't even open. Hope dji sorts this out quickly as I want to fly my new mini.

After reading all the messages I can in support groups and experimenting I found the solution to a device connecting only one time but not again. It's 100% a charging issue. If your android device has less than a 100% charge, the remote acts as a charger. There's no way around it. This does NOT happen with the Mavic remote or the Phantom remote - so it looks like this stripped down version of the Mavic remote is missing either the chip or software that prevents this form occurring! So if you're experiencing the device charging instead of connecting, fully charge the device (phone or tablet.) But be aware - the second you disconnect the remote it will switch back to charging!
Yes, that´s a silly arrangement, my RC runs out of battery soon after my 3rd drone battery is inserted, presumably because it is charging the phone.
DJI "forgot" to specify that android has to be 64 bit. So J5 2017 with 64 bit hardware is driven by 32 bit android. Won't even install DJI Fly.

Forgot to say that J5 2017 has android 9 (pie) installed.
DJI go 4 has 32 bit version and can be installed and used on J5 2017.
According to DJI forum only 64 bit version of DJI Fly will exist.
@@mladenmatkovic6126 If you look at the APK file with an APK explorer, you can see that they simply edited the mavic pro APP and stripped it down. Really sketchy way of doing it.

At present (21 DEC 2019), DJI has limited the app to installing to Android devices running a 64 bit version of Android 6.0 OS or above. If your device does not meet those requirements, you will not find the app in Google Play. While you can find the app, and an APK download, on the DJI site, you still need to meet the OS requirement to install the app. DJI says the Mini MUST use the Fly app.
Dji supports says they will not create a 32 bit version of the app and the mini will only fly with dji fly. Only option they gave me was buy a new phone. Bought a cheap Huawei p smart 2019 for 139 euros. It works well
Have a Samsung Galaxy s5. Looked in my phone before i ordered mm. Said it was running on 6.0. Mm came in today. No such app in the store. Phone does everything i want, except this. Spent all my money on the drone. Now it sits until i can afford new phone. Huge disappointment....
@@duanehenicke6602 that is so annoying man. I made a video about it. The problem is if the phone runs on a 32bit system. It must be running on a 64bit. Dji is still not stating this in the specification section of the drone an that is the reason this happens. Check out my video. I suggest a cheap phone alternative that works great.

Nice review, thanks. It is a bit naughty of DJI to allow the DJI Fly App only on certain phones. Also, my RC seems to be charging my phone, so it runs out of battery soon after I insert my 3rd drone battery, ie a little over 1 hour.

Add this to da pot. If your Android phone is running the 32bit version of Android ,the app wont install, DJ Fly requires the 64bit version.
My Stylo4 has a 64bit cpu and some noobs decided to install the 32bit version.
Let us count all the "heads up "we got from anyone or anywhere on this issue. No way i am buying a new phone .Sending it back.

I just found this out the hard way too!!! Had the drone all set up and play store told me none of my devices are compatible!!! I have a galaxy tab 4 and that one doesn't work either!

I ended up taking it back to the shop,what a pain,no app on play,when I scanned barcode, wouldn't download.
I thought being a dji it would be a walk in the park, expected better for expensive bit of kit.

It's a real shame at the lack of support for phones... Especially in your case where the phone is only one year old, there shouldn't be an issue... 😩

Zohaib Adil You can't get it from the Play store because it's an unsigned, half-assed app. You need to manually download it, manually install it, and turn off your device security. If you have Android 9 chances are it won't install at all.

wait for the mini rear red light turns green then open the app.
I tried various ways with no success, it was a bug on the app which DJI has provided a recent update, that's solved the issue for me.
Still reports of others having issues though.

For Samsung user call Samsung and they will send a update to your phone. if you register it when you got it. They did it for me.

DJI does not fly well with Androit, and that is because and nobody knows this, Appel makes the software, so Androit will never do well, so they do that on purpose, which is actually not allowed, but they do, the Chinese have it everywhere Lack of it, it looks like anything can do, but it is wrong very wrong, so they exclude androit, and you never get it right, whatever you do, they say you can fly the DJI with Androit but forget it , Apple has a finger in the porridge here. just search go3ed on the internet then you will find a video somewhere that confirms this, if it is still there, they are filthy liars. Just never buy Apple again that will teach those bastards. R.
#POSITIVE UPDATE: DJI have as of 15/11/2019, released a updated patch to fix the crashing bug in various models - Check the app for the LATEST version - Do bare in mind there are still many incompatible devices, so do check before purchasing!

@@trojanavena5935 when I first got mini in early January this is what I was using now I have an ipad mini 4 not sure if its better or not, note 8 seems to work OK apart from compass doesn't seem to be correct in relation to the controller and drone and I think the controller tries to charge the phone. If I remember rightly it drained the phone battery fast
I guess it might tell something "get the iPhone" LoL!! hahaha.....mehh,,.,,,I wouldn't fly an done with the crashing app like that..of course I use iPhone :)!

It says with what phones it was tested with, plus they will add more as they go...so if you dont have a compatible phone of course it wont work... I checked before buying i have a G6. So ok.. And a ipad mini...again ok.. Imho...
That's just phones they have tested with but not limited too, the requirements are Android 6.0 and above - phones that don't have the requirements can't download the app. My Sony works fine for everything, except when the drone connects it randomly crashes.
Second of all, when buying on Amazon, you don't get a list of "compatible phones" because it should be working on the operating system - it's like if Windows said "yea, so Windows 10 will work on your HP laptop, but not Lenvo".
It's a major flaw with DJI, they should have done better testing before release.
And as we speak, I just got a message from DJI explaining they have patched the crashing - it now works on my phone like it was supposed.
