I’m so very glad I had ear plugs when I saw them. It was life altering. At first the sheer voluminous sound and low tones surround you. Feeling it all over your body. First I laughed a little at the absurdity of heaviness. Then it clicked in. I felt introspective. I felt alive. My eyes welled up with the feeling of isolation and comfort. Funny, but this doesn't come close to testing the limits of a good sub. You haven't heard sub-bass in music until you've heard a pipe organ with a 64' pipe that gets down to 8hz. At that point you no longer hear anything, you just feel it vibrate your soul.

Dying to see them live or rather, experience them live within the fog. I've heard many positive things about them live, as long as you can cope with what some of the frequencies can do to your body. (Fainting, legs giving way, throwing up, loosing control of any body part including shiting yourself,.only heard of that last one happening once) I like the live footage online with various other instruments along with the guitars, for some reason especially the trombone one! But obviously it can't reproduce being there like most live acts. 😀The Needle Drop, Anthony Fantano has talked about seeing them live.
@@yellowsaurus4895 I'm so jealous! 👍😁What was it like?? (I have hearing problems in my ears, mainly 50% deafness in the right one, because of too much time spent standing stage left to drummers. Luckily I only have tinitus occasionally, but I know an orchestra member who had very bad tinitus because his position is right in front of the brass section...ouch! He has to have cancelling frequencies applied)
@@The1stMrJohn it was pretty incredible. I think they may have been rather limited by the venue, because they actually weren't as loud as i thought they'd be, but I'm still glad i wore ear protection for sure. But even if they weren't incredibly loud, their sound is so overwhelmingly powerful that it really does put you into kind of a trance. After they had been on for maybe 5 or 10 minutes (during which time you couldn't even see them onstage because the fog was so thick) i noticed that i couldn't keep my mouth closed, and maybe halfway through the set i started to feel really tired; i had to keep resting my head either chin-on-chest style or hanging backwards over my shoulders; and there were a couple times where i felt like i could just fall asleep. It was honestly kind of draining, but in a good, relaxing way. Definitely the coolest live performance I've ever seen.

You're in for a treat.
@@dennfett I honestly can't wait, still trying to convince some of my band mates to come lol
@@sam_james_18 I've got my 17 year old nephew coming along. They are brilliant. Utterly crushing.
This band was hard to find on limewire
*Invests in obscure high end pickups, pedals, amp effects*
*drops guitar next to amp*
*Leaves it there for 6 hours, kick it a couple times*
That's the fuckin' shit right there.. call it Goat Tooth Stuck in My Forehead.. New Sunn o))) track.
Intense stuff!! Loving this!!
This new album changed my life.
They're so happy they learned a power chord. 😊
@Napalm There's a really good doom metal band called Black Tomb that I have been enjoying a lot lately. I highly recommend their songs "Under The Pine" and "Eyes At Midnight".
@@RichardDeBerryOfficial In Drop Tuning, so not THAT happy.
They’re happy you can’t play one. Good job little buddy.
@@Hairylungs If I couldn't after playing for nearly 30 years that would be sad. Lol.
This is probably one of the best metal albums of the 2000s (yes. I know this came out in 2019)
This made my day😀!
Dying to see them live or rather,
experience them live
within the fog.
I've heard many positive things about them live, as long as you can cope with what some of the frequencies can do to your body.
(Fainting, legs giving way, throwing up, loosing control of any body part including shiting yourself,.only heard of that last one happening once)
I like the live footage online with various other instruments along with the guitars, for some reason especially the trombone one!
But obviously it can't reproduce being there like most live acts.
😀The Needle Drop, Anthony Fantano has talked about seeing them live.
Im gonna see them this friday. I'm wearing earplugs for sure, tinnitus is no joke
@@yellowsaurus4895 Sound amazing, I'm up for new experiences.
I think Anthony Fantano from the music review site The Needle Drop said the same thing about his jaw! Maybe Have a look at the video where he describes his experience of seeing them live to see if it resonates with you😱😀
Cheers from Hampshire County
(I'm near to city of Winchester, and not far from Stonehenge)
in England
@@The1stMrJohn Damn, i got like extreme dropoff in both my ears in the high frequency range, Its weird because i can hear cars on a highway i live next to yet i cant hear birds chirping without hearing aids.
thanks the guys for doing non mainstream music
In all seriousness, I really have enjoyed Sunn O)))'s music over the years, and can really appreciate the effort put into recording this with Steve Albini.
You have to listen to this with ads interrupting. They contribute to the artistry.
This is my first time listening to Sunn O)))
This is fabulous
Slow down, man. Not every song has to be wheedily wheedily wheedily.
but wheedily wheedily wheedily is very cool
thanks for Bathory tribute. sunn o))) rules!
More O)) with drums please. Another BORIS collaboration
Also, I have an A- fib diagnoses after seeing SUNN in 2012 haha
0:00 - Blood Fire Death intro? o_O
Same horse found another band.
except "i took the night to believe" this maybe should the first record in sunn o))) history thats made not to feel...fear to feel.
its made to listen too and feel pure reddish black. amazing work
It's like the suspense leading up to beat drop and speed is the best part. But it never comes. So its just the best part for the whole song.
thank you,
come to chicago more often
the amps will be warmed up and ready for you.
I used to mock drone. Now I understand why people like it. It's ethereal, strange and weirdly relaxing. This is a very good noise/drone album .
I like how meat and bones resonate with your flavour of whatever it is you do.
`This song is amazing. The female vocals and Albini's production is something special
I think it all makes much more sense if you imagine flying over a sand desert with your ornithopter in search of the lost temple of a sleeping god.
SEATTLE IS SUNN O}}}. YOU HAVE HIT THE TRIFECTA>
Wait for it..........?
Anyone tried playing at 0.25x speed because the sustain wasn't long enough for them?
Is there a 45 rpm single ? A disco extended version? Is 55 too old to enjoy this? I thought it was a Gene Simmons bass solo until I heard a fourth chord! Harharhar
Hahahaha
I am 53 and it sounds a bit too pop for me.. :-|
fuck gene that overrated kiss tart
Need to record at SUN Studio....Just because!
Am I crazy for thinking the intro sounds like an even slower Dopesmoker intro?
Quarantine music
That intro is the same one Bathory used for "A Fine Day To Die"
Well, this is certainly...interesting. Curiosity brought me here, not disappointed!
4:27, that little wavering note is ace
