    Not sure why the last two videos get choppy at the end. Must have something to do with the upload process. Apologies

    Squatch Senior also did several videos on rebuilding the Eisemann magnetos.

    Squatch Senior did a five part video on rebuilding pony engine carburetors. Very informative.
    He also did a video on the Eisemann mags.

    I was going to post here that the eBay carburetor is for a John Deere V-4 pony used on the larger diesels, but I see that others have already mentioned it. The throttle body on those is reversed from the Cat version of that Zenith, but the float bowl is the same between the two. I've picked up several of those "backwards" JD carbs at swap meets in the past just for the float bowl and associated parts. The round-ish housing between the choke lever and throttle body on 4G's original carb is the spring loaded version, that lets the choke plate get sucked open once the pony starts running so that it doesn't block off too much incoming air before the operator is able to push the control rod back in. There are also non spring loaded versions of the Cat pony carbs too, and they're much simpler to put back together because that spring loaded mechanism can be a real pain to get all lined back up when going back together. If you really come up against a difficult spot trying to find a good throttle body, I may be able to help you guys out 🙂

      😊 The spring loaded mechanism was completely frozen with rust. I thought the ebay one would work. When I finally realized the difference my heart sank. It was too good to pass up when I found it. Hopefully the bowl will work in a future project (5T 😬). We just watched Seniors video on that very subject. Fortunately I should have one on the way from Antique crawler parts. If that falls through I may reach out, but they usually take good care of us. Appreciate the offer. Merry Christmas to you and yours! 🎄

    Definitely need a smallish/mediumish sonic cleaner...those things are GREAT at getting in there and breaking up the crap that jacks up threads and whatnot on smaller parts!
    Loving seeing the rebuild!
    Keep em coming!!!!

      Thanks 😊 I did eventually put it in a Sonic cleaner. You're right they work great! The fuel bowl will rebuild just fine but I'm afraid the throttle body is just too far gone.

    I remember Cosmolione , some of the machines came with it on all the bear metal. Table top,bed ways, ball screws. Took hours to get it clean.

    Good to see this approaching the paint-ready stage! Even in Illinois, there were stories of dust days back in the bowl era, although not as severe as the hardest hit areas.

    That’s happened to me so many times where I buy something like a carburetor or a master cylinder and it looks like I can swap the parts out to fit right and then you find out that it’s not quite so easy but hopefully you can still make that happen!
    Your Dad’s grunt torque system is pretty accurate but I would recommend that he steer clear of beans for supper the night before,it would be a shame if he blew an O-ring but on the upside you would probably save a lot on your heat bill!
    Excellent to see your progress 😀🇨🇦

      I think the carburetor may still come in handy in the future. The parts are hard to find so it's easy to get excited when I find one. Beans = torque clicks? LOL 😂

    The carb should be the same. You just needed to flip it 180 to match it up👍

      I think I have some that I used on the Piston sleeves. I'll have to remember to give it a try. That might have saved us a lot of frustration.

    There's a good book by Neil Yerigan How to Restore Tractor Magnetos witch would be a good help. I got my copy from Farm Collector store. Good luck

    I remember reading about the Great Dust bowl as a kid. But I can imagine how much havoc it caused turning the worst economic times in America. 4G carburetor looks kind of unic the other one seems a much newer style. One bad thing is the pitted surface. I have no idea how good the JB weld would do with the cavities. Probably for a Carburetor it is safe to use if all else fails. I would look at the parts book to find out if they changed something later or in the middle of the production. The Pony engine came out very fine. 4G probably had not many hours at all. Maybe you should send the Magneto iron to Senior and he might fix it? Not sure how well you can do it at home. Theoretically you need a coil and voltage to perform the re-magnetization process.

      Hey Steve, it's been very dry around here and reminiscent of the stories that my grandfather recounted. The carburetor is toast. Fortunately I think I found another one and it should be here sometime in the next few weeks. I don't really know squatch at all. Not enough to ask. I think we can handle the Magneto rebuild though. I was able to find the book even though it's a reprint that outlines the process. We just finished building a magnet charger. That video will be out on a few weeks. 😊

      @@lifeafterourloss Senior at lead showed us the way. Books are one way to learn it but you still need one live example. I don't know of the Eismann magneto has condensers. That might be also bad if it has one. I hope the other carburetor you got has at least the same base as the old one.

    Insulated jaws on the vice? How did the plugs get a good ground?

    • @lifeafterourloss
      @lifeafterourloss  10 месяцев назад +1

      We had the plugs laying on the metal part of the vice. That might explain the weak spark. Great observation.

    Could you perhaps epoxy inside the carburator to make it smooth again? I guess it only comes down to can it last gasoline...
    Also can you swap parts from the newer carb to the old one?

    • @lifeafterourloss
      @lifeafterourloss  10 месяцев назад +2

      Unfortunately the parts aren't compatible with each other. Well the epoxy might work the butterfly was so rusted we actually destroyed it trying to get it out. I think we may have found another one.

      @@lifeafterourloss I believe that carb comes from a D6 with a 318 motor. They moved the mag down to the bottom side of the pony to make room up top

    • @lifeafterourloss
      @lifeafterourloss  10 месяцев назад +3

      That makes sense. I got excited when I saw it on eBay. With a quick look you would think it was the same carburetor but definitely won't work!

    • @erikstevens9203
      @erikstevens9203 10 месяцев назад +3

      I don't know if this is an option. Why don't you make a carburetor riser

    • @lifeafterourloss
      @lifeafterourloss  10 месяцев назад +2

      That's a great idea. Having looked at it I don't think that it would clear the hood. It would take a very large riser to clear the top of the magneto. Appreciate the idea.

    Sorry if you've been asked this before, but I was wondering if you had replacement numbers for the pony motor parts. Piston rings? Crank bearings? My parts manual seems to be missing a section or something. Thanks.

    • @lifeafterourloss
      @lifeafterourloss  10 месяцев назад +1

      Depending on the date of manufacture for your machine the pony motor parts could be completely different. The best advice I could give is to look for a used parts book on eBay. Look for one that relates to the serial number and prefix of your machine. That will be a lot more accurate. You can usually pick one up for around $20. I did a video outlining where we get the parts for our 4G, D4 just a few weeks ago. Hope this helps. Here is a link to the video: https: //ruclips.net/video/iSXPe1qbNME/видео.htmlsi=Zuj8QnDPre-MqL5O
