What’re you talking about? When you fold paper and then fold it the other way on that crease, it weakens it even more.

I agree, I think doing it too often or squeezing too tightly on the curler when at the roots can possibly weaken the roots if not careful or using it everyday, maybe only do it for date night? And NEVER do AFTER you’ve applied mascara or anything to your lashes! Oh my gosh I did that a couple times as a teen, not knowing anything about what the heck I was doing 😂 and the mascara made my eyelashes stick to the curler and about 5 of them pulled out and stayed stuck to the curler LOL! 😮😬😆🤣😂 Lesson learned the hard way! Thank God I was young with super thick lashes so it wasn’t really noticeable on me at the time lol. 😅
I don’t think people know how to curl their lashes properly. You’re supposed to start at the base, curl, go up a bit, curl, and then go up and curl whatever is left. It literally makes your lashes stick straight up lmao

Sometimes I really need my outer corner lashes on my left eye to stick straight out because they curl insomuch that if I put on mascara it is instantly all over. I hate it, but I can kind of straighten it by using the curler the normal way. I really almost never bother but I wish my eyelashes weren't as curly as they actually are on the outer corners
Even when it’s warm it hurts I tried once, never gonna do that again. I didn’t burn myself though but it hurts. Sometime my lashes curl up really pretty with the curler and sometimes they have a bad day and the ends of my right eye lashes won’t go up
With the regular lash curler I just blow my blow dryer on it for 10-15 seconds. Test it to make sure it’s not to hot. But I have a heated lash curler now that does better because it doesn’t pull at my lashes. I still don’t use very often.
You can literally get the same result buy curling right at the root and slightly tilting the curler upwards. Also I wait for my mascara to fully dry and then I curl again, not clamping down all the way but just lightly and doing the same tilt technique. Works like a charm. No air in your eye
...Why do some woman use their mascara like that? It's so clumpy.. It would look nicer if you slowly wipe the mascara stick along the side walls of the tube to remove the excess mascara. It prevents fallout and makes your lashes appear less clumpy and more natural.
This is exactly what i do lol. Most of the brushes that come with mascara dont work for me cos i have pretty hooded lids and a stronger brow so it always ends up messy, but now I have an applicator from an old mascara thata perfect, i keep that clean, use the wand with the mascara first, and then run the clean application through to pick up any clumps and clean it up 😊 still more work than is usually worth it to me lol, but if im gonna do it, may as well be ok with how it looks!
Same. That’s why I use clear mascara with a really thin wand. Then maybe I’ll go in with the darker mascara because my lashes are very light. But it looks so natural with clear mascara
I actually do this cause my eyelashes bother me when they’re touching my skin they naturally curl up and I always thought people with straight lashes looked extremely pretty, we always want what we don’t have.

No that’s actually fake, it can give you a lot of infections and can damage your eye. I know this because I remember a few years ago when people first started saying that, I tried it and I got Pink-Eye. Please don’t do this. It doesn’t make your lashes longer or protect them -in fact, quite tho opposite

The better hack is to curl it from the top to the root. Not just the root, not starting at the root. Curl from the end of the lashes, then move down towards the root, curling all the way. Your lash will stay curled the whole day
Heat lash curler with hair dryer and it’ll stay all day apply mascara to end of lashes for natural look doesn’t even need to be at the root, mascara wetness can reverse the curl but just recurl once the mascara dries on lashes, make sure to clean lash curler as mascara and stick to it and lashes can get stuck on it and pull out, clean it off and it won’t happen, never lost any lashes doing this 👏

Im sorry, older woman here. I stopped using waterproof mascara ages ago. It is too hard to remove and pulls your lashes out. And stop using an eyelash curler because it broke. One thing women should know about eyelash curlers is never ever use them with mascara on. You only use them when your eyelashes are clean. And be careful, change the sponges out often. Sometimes make up gets left behind those little bits of mascara. You think you’ve got off using your waterproof mascara. And when you curl them on dirty sponges, it pulls them out. Just a little advice from a girl who watched her Momma curl her lashes from 70’s- 80’s. And those lashes are now sparse!
I’ve been doing this for years and my lashes aren’t damaged 💀 I naturally have super curly lashes that curl back so much that they end up looking super short, so I started doing this when I was in high school to “straighten” my lashes a little before applying false lashes otherwise it’ll be super difficult getting the lash band on my lash line because my lashes literally cover my lash line because they’re so curly. Just don’t tug and you’ll be fine 😂
One of my friends in high school used to curl her lashes as close to the lid as she could so they would be long but they stood straight up no curl and they always made me laugh 😂
You can use a corner lash or spot lash curler to do the “upside down” part. Still awkward but a little easier. I’ve had to do this with false eyelashes that are too curly. Curlier isn’t always better with lashes!
I just decided in my teens to never use a curler and really perfect the art of mascara application. Looks so much better than straight up lashes. They're meant to arc, not get crimped.
Yeah this is other way u can use mascara brush start from base and start kinda moving brush side to side and up you can get curls like that and if they are stubborn u can lift with finger
Maybe not being able to tell you have mascara on is the way to go. That would let them look natural yet extraordinary. You don’t want people to see your base you just want your skin to look natural and flawless. I use brown mascara diluted with water and apply it with a toddler toothbrush. I don’t want my lashes looking like they have ANY goop on them. I never curl them because I think it looks fake. I also have them dyed brown from time to time and then I don’t have to do anything. I want my eyes to seem completely natural but enhanced some. No liner ever but I do use a wash of several colors from the Smashbox palette. But just a wash. It looks great on me.

Pro tip, use a second mirror (or any other method, a photo can work too) to get a side view of your lash line. If your lashes are sticking “straight up” there’s a good chance they look awesome from the from and trash from the side loll. I’m very particular about how I curl my lashes. It takes quite a bit of time. I clamp at the bottom (not too hard) and I clamp the lashes multiple times all the way to the end of the lash, in a way that creates a perfect curve/curl so they are actually curled and not a 90 degree angle lol.
Rather slightly heat your curler with a hairdryer, then use as intended/you normally would on your lashes. The slight heating will make your curl hold longer 😊
I don't use curlers because it pulls out lashes. I am 42 and my lashes are thicker than the other women in my family despite us all looking like twins. Then again, I don't wear much makeup.
an easier and less dangerous to do this is to tilt the eyelash curler UP as you go and release at the highest point it can go, if you aren’t careful you might catch yourself crying bc it kinda hurts
Yea i did this but it makes my eyelashes go more straight bc they don't want to curl as much anymore since i curled them the other way. It definitely does make the mascara go on thicker tho and they stay longer
I been doing that for decades. It helps especially if you have long eyelashes like myself. It prevents them from stabbing you in the eye. Having long eyelashes has its draw backs for sure. 😅
I use the low heat setting in my hair dryer for 15 to 25 seconds, holding it about 8 to 10 inches from my face. I turn the heat away when it starts feeling warmish and bring it back when it feels better. Then blast them with the cold setting for the same amount of time. I use smashbox eyeliner in raven on my upper lash line then I put my mascara on right after and hit them with high cool from my hair dryer for 45 seconds each to dry the mascara fast. I curl and set both individually and then apply mascara and set them individually. It sets them so beautifully, and they stay curled all day. My lashes have not fallen out and I've been doing this for years. Thrive mascara keeps the curl the best for me and I've used allllll the brands.
My mascara used to always look like that too until I got a thinner wand and started putting it on much lighter. Very gently barely touching the lashes at the ends (after curling of course) you can then work you way down the lash applying closer and closer to the root with each coat if you like but I find that they stay looking much longer if they’re lighter and I don’t apply all the way down to lark line. Sounds crazy bc I always wanted to cover the whole lash but looks so much better and stays that way too. It also keeps the mascara from getting on the eye lid. Oh and if your still getting mascara on your eye lid try looking to see if you have very small hairs on your eye lid or slightly above your lash line bc I was still having trouble for a while until I noticed that I had extra hairs (especially on one eye for some reason) I learned that the mascara was always on my eye lid in that area because these very small blonde (almost like peach fuzzy) hairs were catching the mascara so after tweezing the almost non noticeable hairs that I never even realized were even there, I stopped getting mascara in that area.
Here's a tip that I use, idk if it'll work for some of u, but it works for me, apply mascara to the tips of ur lashes FIRST and THEN apply from ur roots to the tips...trust the process...then take a lash comb and comb through ur lashes until they look how u want them to look.

Fun fact: my eyelashes on my right eye grow upside down naturally and no amount of curling or product will make them curl up again. Unless I have them removed and see if growing them from scratch fixes it.
I highly do not recommend😂 When I was like 5 I thought it would be a good idea to cut my eyelashes off and it literally took like ten years for them to completely grow back in and that is not an exaggeration. It took an eternity. Maybe you could try a lash lift? It's kinda like a perm for your lashes😂 so the chemicals might do the trick. It works on Asian lashes so you never know.
I find putting on a single coat of mascara, then gently using curlers gives a better effect. Most of the time, I don't use curlers. Instead, I blink onto the wand and that gives a nice, natural curl.
I put my curler in my armpit or bra while I do my makeup so by the time I’m ready for it it’s warm and helps curl the lashes. Easier than getting out the blow dryer to warm it.
A lot of lash curlers, probably also the one you have, are designed so you can hold the curler at an angle to where it's almost horizontal to the eye, which gives an even better result in a lot less time and with less effort.

This is a hack for people with really curly eyelashes where you're trying to straighten for length. I tried it to make applying falsies easier and it didn't work for me. But I happily found a way to apply my lashes.
I started do this in middle school because my eyelashes are extremely curly. I also warm the eye lash curler with a lighter then use the eye lash curler upside and very very gently straighten my lashes then curl them normally. Most importantly, I use waterproof mascara because it’s harding effect which keeps them where I want them. If I use a reg mascara that isn’t waterproof, as soon as I put it on my eyelashes curl back up! P.S. I don’t have any issues with damage or patches, and it didn’t stop growth. Obviously if you are too rough with ANYTHING it can be damaging.
I suggest not doing this because you end up damaging your eyelashes by bending them in a way that they aren’t supposed to be bent and it can break off … 💀
Im actually blessed with long eye lashes they get caught on my eyebrows when I dont get them waxed in time lol my boys got lucky too they have lashes like their mama ❤
#1 Lesson: ALWAYS check that your curler's pads are in. My friend crimped/cut off ALL of her lashes on one side before she notices the pads missing 😮 Just the thought of losing what skimpy lashes I have terrifies to religiously check the pads everytime.

Use retinol 24 on your face, and you'll have long ass lashes in like a week. not kidding. mine got so long, they touch my brow bone.
Mine seemed to grow, or give the appearance they were longer after starting retinol, too.

I need to do this to get lashes on fast... because my lashes are curly AF and it's difficult to add lashes to curly lashes.
In response to some comments I’ve seen:
Lashes fall out on their own, just like the hairs on our head. Using an eyelash curler at ALL, can cause lashes to fall out prematurely IF you’re not using it correctly. Especially if you pull and tug on the lash curler.
Trying the method in this video, isn’t going to cause lashes to fall out any more than using the curler the “correct” way will.
Worth a try!
Pro tip, use a second mirror (or any other method, a photo can work too) to get a side view of your lash line. If your lashes are sticking “straight up” there’s a good chance they look awesome from the from and trash from the side loll. I’m very particular about how I curl my lashes. It takes quite a bit of time. I clamp at the bottom (not too hard) and I clamp the lashes multiple times all the way to the end of the lash, in a way that creates a perfect curve/curl so they are actually curled and not a 90 degree angle lol.
Rather slightly heat your curler with a hairdryer, then use as intended/you normally would on your lashes. The slight heating will make your curl hold longer 😊
But why do you need your lashes to sit like that? That doesn't look normal bestie 😭

I don't use curlers because it pulls out lashes. I am 42 and my lashes are thicker than the other women in my family despite us all looking like twins. Then again, I don't wear much makeup.
You can run a hair dryer over your curler to heat it up (not too hot!) and it does it way better

an easier and less dangerous to do this is to tilt the eyelash curler UP as you go and release at the highest point it can go, if you aren’t careful you might catch yourself crying bc it kinda hurts
Yea i did this but it makes my eyelashes go more straight bc they don't want to curl as much anymore since i curled them the other way. It definitely does make the mascara go on thicker tho and they stay longer
I been doing that for decades. It helps especially if you have long eyelashes like myself. It prevents them from stabbing you in the eye. Having long eyelashes has its draw backs for sure. 😅
I use the low heat setting in my hair dryer for 15 to 25 seconds, holding it about 8 to 10 inches from my face. I turn the heat away when it starts feeling warmish and bring it back when it feels better. Then blast them with the cold setting for the same amount of time. I use smashbox eyeliner in raven on my upper lash line then I put my mascara on right after and hit them with high cool from my hair dryer for 45 seconds each to dry the mascara fast. I curl and set both individually and then apply mascara and set them individually. It sets them so beautifully, and they stay curled all day. My lashes have not fallen out and I've been doing this for years. Thrive mascara keeps the curl the best for me and I've used allllll the brands.

The way that I curl them is to start at the route and then go up to the end. It makes your eyelashes look really nice.
My mascara used to always look like that too until I got a thinner wand and started putting it on much lighter. Very gently barely touching the lashes at the ends (after curling of course) you can then work you way down the lash applying closer and closer to the root with each coat if you like but I find that they stay looking much longer if they’re lighter and I don’t apply all the way down to lark line. Sounds crazy bc I always wanted to cover the whole lash but looks so much better and stays that way too. It also keeps the mascara from getting on the eye lid. Oh and if your still getting mascara on your eye lid try looking to see if you have very small hairs on your eye lid or slightly above your lash line bc I was still having trouble for a while until I noticed that I had extra hairs (especially on one eye for some reason) I learned that the mascara was always on my eye lid in that area because these very small blonde (almost like peach fuzzy) hairs were catching the mascara so after tweezing the almost non noticeable hairs that I never even realized were even there, I stopped getting mascara in that area.
Here's a tip that I use, idk if it'll work for some of u, but it works for me, apply mascara to the tips of ur lashes FIRST and THEN apply from ur roots to the tips...trust the process...then take a lash comb and comb through ur lashes until they look how u want them to look.
Girlies go and laminate your lashes. I just did it for the first time (my lashes are naturally straight and downwards) and now I look like a doll 😍

So glad I have lashes that are long and curly. Don't use mascara (except on special occasions) and have never owned an eyelash curler.
I find that the colder the wand is, the better they stay curled. Heat relaxes them, cold makes them... stiff. Then use mascara to keep them that way.

I have to be careful with which curler I use because the wrong one will make my contact lenses pop out.
Fun fact: my eyelashes on my right eye grow upside down naturally and no amount of curling or product will make them curl up again. Unless I have them removed and see if growing them from scratch fixes it.
I highly do not recommend😂 When I was like 5 I thought it would be a good idea to cut my eyelashes off and it literally took like ten years for them to completely grow back in and that is not an exaggeration. It took an eternity. Maybe you could try a lash lift? It's kinda like a perm for your lashes😂 so the chemicals might do the trick. It works on Asian lashes so you never know.

I find putting on a single coat of mascara, then gently using curlers gives a better effect. Most of the time, I don't use curlers. Instead, I blink onto the wand and that gives a nice, natural curl.
Just a quick tip that too many people don't know: Look at the shape of your mascara brush. It's to be used like a tiny volume brush.

For the record, I gently heat my curler with my blowdryer for MAX curling! Works wonders!

Waterproof mascara is harder on your lashes - as it has more chemicals. Best to only use when needed❤
I put my curler in my armpit or bra while I do my makeup so by the time I’m ready for it it’s warm and helps curl the lashes. Easier than getting out the blow dryer to warm it.
A lot of lash curlers, probably also the one you have, are designed so you can hold the curler at an angle to where it's almost horizontal to the eye, which gives an even better result in a lot less time and with less effort.

This is a hack for people with really curly eyelashes where you're trying to straighten for length. I tried it to make applying falsies easier and it didn't work for me. But I happily found a way to apply my lashes.
I started do this in middle school because my eyelashes are extremely curly. I also warm the eye lash curler with a lighter then use the eye lash curler upside and very very gently straighten my lashes then curl them normally. Most importantly, I use waterproof mascara because it’s harding effect which keeps them where I want them. If I use a reg mascara that isn’t waterproof, as soon as I put it on my eyelashes curl back up!
P.S. I don’t have any issues with damage or patches, and it didn’t stop growth. Obviously if you are too rough with ANYTHING it can be damaging.

Im actually blessed with long eye lashes they get caught on my eyebrows when I dont get them waxed in time lol my boys got lucky too they have lashes like their mama ❤
#1 Lesson: ALWAYS check that your curler's pads are in. My friend crimped/cut off ALL of her lashes on one side before she notices the pads missing 😮 Just the thought of losing what skimpy lashes I have terrifies to religiously check the pads everytime.
