    With regards to the ligature and screw: It seems as if screws always point to the right - regardless of whether it’s at the front or back /leather or metal, etc.

    Really important... right now Im missing one top front tooth. It will take a year to repair.. implant. Question... can I still learn to play the Clarinet? Can I just use upper and lower lips? Hope so. Or... does it really matter if I use just one tooth ... and still have a proper lip seal?

    • @jackx4311
      @jackx4311 2 года назад

      @El Rico - The remaining top front tooth will be enough to hold the mouthpiece steady in the correct position. Your upper and lower lips are what provide the airtight seal, so the lack of that tooth won't stop you playing.

    Technically, ancient reed instruments were NOT clarinets...as, by definition, the clarinet overblows at the 12th (not the octave). We look to Denner as inventing the first true clarinet. The word clarinet is actually derived from "clarino," which was a wooden Italian TRUMPET. So yes...far more interesting than "we had this in Ancient Greece."

    I new to clarinet (senior recorder player) and just got my first clarinet and I have surprised myself being able to play notes right out of the box. But I have a problem and don’t know if it me or the clarinet when I play a “G” I get a perfect “F” when I play a “F” I get a perfect “E” and so on this goes on through the scale. Plus I can’t get a note at all on the upper register which might be me but I have use a couple of tuning apps and they all show the Clarinet play one note out is it me? Or do I have a problem with the Clarinet? Oh and thanks for the courses they will help a lot.

    You can get a neck strap for a clarinet to support the weight of the instrument, making it easier to hold. I know this because I've got one, and it makes holding and playing the clarinet much easier for me! Great video though and thank you very much for sharing.

      i saw another lesson and it works. it is said you put your bottom lips slightly inside of your bottom teeth (this will automatically give you a flat chin) and tug it the upper teeth on the top. close your whole mouth and blow "Hoo~" it works for me.

    • @sherrybirchall8677
      @sherrybirchall8677 3 года назад

      Maybe your reed was not wetted sufficiently, or it was placed too high or too low, or was too high of hardness for a beginning student. Maybe a 1.5 or 2 would be good.

      It's intended to be the very first steps in playing. Yes, breath production and control is vital, but if you have no prior knowledge of clarinets or other wind instruments, this lesson alone provides a LOT of info to take on board.
