      So much great information. Your voice is so smooth when you present this material.
      Anyhow I just moved into a 1200 sq foot house that is all open. I also have a dog 🐶 who sleeps with me.
      I was hoping to be able to bring my plants in the winter ❄️ but I guess they would die if I try the ozone machines.
      Are the others, like the HEPA filters safe for pets, people and plants.
      I’m going to make a list of all of these to see what works best for me.
      Again, thank you for this awesome information.

    We stayed at a nice Airbnb last month. When we walked in the perfume smell knocked us over. There were three of the plug in units, we had to unplug while we were there because it was so over powering (and it’s toxic). I wish more people realized the smell of clean is no smell!

      Right? A client gave me an entire gift basket of those plug-in smelly perfume thingies. It was the sweetest gesture. And I've got really bad sensitivities to those as well. I gave them all away as door prizes in a contest. LOL. 👏👏👏

    My husband caught me binge watching your Chanel. Next he’s sitting and we’re both caught up in the RUclips on our TV ( move over Netflix!) He just looked flabbergasted when you showed something on the screen, I went, “oh, wow!” Just then you looked at the audience and said, yeah, I know!” It looked like we were actually talking! It was perfect timing! I am now sitting with my foot elevated and iced after a foot surgery. I’m relaxed by your videos and I’ve bought new gadgets waiting for the day I’m allowed to bear weight on my foot! If I weren’t a nurse, I’d have been happy being a house cleaner! Love your channnel!

    Please use caution with any ozone generating machine, it can be harmful to lungs. And I say this as someone that has used them, and I love the fresh smell they leave behind. Consider operating the machine only when room/home is vacant.

      I strongly agree with Geri Roush. Would respectfully ask you to consider investigating the scientific data available re ozone, its hazards,, and its breakdown time. My research indicates that ozone degrades/destroys all organic materials (leather, wood,, and textiles, etc.) if the exposure time is too long, so one must correctly calculate time based on cubic feet of space being treated. It's not a one size fits all time interval. There's also a standard formula to figure out ozone breakdown time based on volume of ozone generated, and until that breakdown time is over, ozone is still in the air and capable of damaging living things. As an example, when I treated my small kitchen and attached laundry room, the correct exposure time was 12 minutes and total ozone breakdown time was about 5 hours. My family and I spent a summer afternoon out under the trees that day. Small price to pay for undamaged lungs, IMHO.

    • @cylon5741
      @cylon5741 3 года назад

      @@anneeinhorn9227 I think the half-life of ozone may also be dependent on temperature and humidity. I own one of the small "commercial" type units, and I do like the clean scent left in a room which has been treated and properly ventilated. But since I do not have any way of testing the ozone levels post-treatment, it is a guessing game in getting back to safe levels of less than one part per ten million. And I believe certain compounds in a room be reduced to formaldehyde after exposure to ozone.

    • @anneeinhorn9227
      @anneeinhorn9227 3 года назад +1

      Hi Cylon, thanks for responding. The points you mention I also found in my research. The formula I used for calculating time includes variables of temperature and humidity. I'd rather err on the side of caution as I have seen too many contractors with permanent lung damage and COPD in their later years.

    I LOVE my ozone machine. bought one for my airbnbs and then got a 2nd unit for my house, between the puppy and teens, it's been so useful, haha. Sorry I didn't see this review or i would have bought through your link. Highly recommend to anyone. I got the Airthereal but mine is yellow and cost a bit more.
    Also I did learn when doing my research that pot growers use ozone machines to kill bugs in the soil, so plants can tolerate O3 in small doses it seems. I haven't taken any plants out of any room and they are all fine. I only run it for 10-20mins though

      What an awesome review. Thanks for sharing this. I love mine as well. I use it in the same room as any strong chemicals on heavy-duty cleaning jobs. We spray the room and during the dwell time for the chemicals, we'll turn on the ozone generator and plug the base of the closed door with a bath towel so the ozone doesn't escape. After the ozone has died down we come in and rinse the areas of chemicals sprayed and then start over to clean the (showers and tubs or appliances) the regular way and that way we're not breathing the fumes. 👍👍👍

    Bought that Winix unit several years ago. It does a good job for an average size bedroom. I have several cats and it helps alot. I found the filters became a huge pain to wash.. so I would just have to buy new ones...but even with 3 cats, I really only had to change them about every 4 months or so. I also just recently purchased a large unit from Dyson for the living/kitchen/dining area. It's great and also eliminates formaldehyde. It's only drawback is It's price, but it is made very well.

      Next, the filter is something I can't choose for you. I might miss something that you need since I don't know all the parameters of your home and lifestyle. Jump on Amazon and start with the 10 I recommended in the video (links are in the show notes) and then you can do comparison shopping to find the right one for your home and budget.
      NOTE: When choosing an air filter, factor in the cost of filter replacements if you buy one that isn't washable. They key to a good working filter is to to change or clean the filters on schedule. Thanks again for your goodness and God Bless.

    Please share the link to buy it please

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад +1

      That is a trick question - when it comes to mold, where is the mold? How much mold is there? Are you trying to remove humidity from the air that contributes to the mold, or are you trying to remove the mildew like odor from the mold? Depending on what the actual problem is - will determine what product is needed. Tell me more about the situation you have in mind.

    Why do you run an Ozone Generator in increments of 20 or 30 minutes instead of for a long time like overnight? Will the ozone generator ruin my leather upholstery? I just bought an artists travel van with beautiful leathers, brushed aluminum, solid curly maple cabinet doors, bead work, etc, covered in smoke residue and smell HELP!

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад

      Ozone is not safe for people, plants or pets. So getting people out of the house overnight is not an option for many. Also, short spurts of ozone may be all you need. The van is more compact than a house and may not need as long a cycle. Either way, it sounds like you might benefit from an ozone machine. 👍

      10mins is enough to clean a normal sized room. sometimes you need to do it twice, i still prefer to do short bursts, give it a chance to air out for a few hours, and then hit it again.

    Hi Angela. I am a non-smoker that lives in a 1200 square-foot apartment on the top level of the building. Just yesterday I had a malfunction on my stove top burner which caused extreme burning of my food. Luckily no fire, but super heavy smoke, even a few ashes in the air, filled my entire apartment. My question is, you think the first ozone generator you mentioned in the video will work to clear the air? I have an eight-year-old daughter who I wanna be very careful with not to cause harm to. I’ve never used this generator before, so I’m a rookie. Also, I have neighbors to the side and downstairs from me. I can’t control their schedules, so they may be home if I use an ozone generator. Is that still safe for them? Any advice is super helpful, as I need to get the smoke out ASAP! Thank you so much! I’ll be sure to purchase any products you recommend through your channel. Happy to support your awesome channel!

      Hi Jonny, An inexpensive but effective model that should work for your whole apartment is this one amzn.to/2K8ULMz or one similar also found on Amazon. They are quick to ship them. My suggestion would be to turn off the air conditioning while using it as not to disturb your neighbors. And make sure you remove all people, plants and pets. Run it for an hour and give it an hour for the air to dissipate and go back to normal. You will benefit from keeping it on hand in case something like this happens again.

      I hope this helps.

      No. It's not safe for people, plants or pets. You will need to lock everything out of the room or house while you use it. If just using it in one room, plug the bottom of the door with a towel so no ozone leaks into the other rooms. After about an hour after the cycle has run all the air will be clean and back to normal.

      It depends on the model and the wattage - I don't have that product in front of me. You can find it on Amazon, and then read the specs and reviews to see if it matches your requirements. You may also find a newer model with a greater distance range.
      If I have a large space I am trying to ozonate - I may block off the home in two parts and do the upstairs and then the downstairs in two separate sessions for guaranteed coverage. Does that make sense?

    • @AskAngelaBrown

      It might - but it's not designed to be a bug zapper. It creates the same stinky damp smell you find after a rain storm. And like a rain storm after the stinky smell wears off everything smells fresh and new again. If you've used bug spray to kill the fleas - the ozone generator will remove the smell of the chemicals.

    I am really happy I found your website! Thanks for the great, informative videos. I'd like to add a couple of insights. Ozone will also kill pests, if they cannot leave the area. There is an odor left after using an ozone generator, especially if it's left on a little long. Follow up with a HEPA machine or odor product is helpful. Ozone generators and Ionizers both leave residue that will build up over time. You may want to wash walls and drapes every few years and shampoo the carpet once per year.

However, if the animal is peeing on the carpet there’s a different issue going on there an ozone generator will not be able to cure. Beyond training, you may want to have the animal checked at the vet to make sure there are no internal health conditions that are causing this to happen. 😻

    One question Angela - have you personally tested each of these units or you just chose them based on the review rating on amazon store?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  4 года назад +16

      Great question. In order for a product to make it on our list, there is a rigorous process it must go through. We (myself or someone on the Savvy Cleaner team) tries it under a variety of scenarios to help us understand the durability, and possibilities of its use. We then decide if the product(s) are better suited for a homeowner, a professional house cleaner, or a specific market like kids or seniors. Amazon reviews can be purchased and verification of ownership isn't always available so while that does influence some - it's not always the best metric for us to rely on when recommending a brand.

      @@AskAngelaBrown Thanks Angela. I was discussing this with Mr Right earlier and he is also interested. I tend to leave upstairs windows open 24/7, 10 months of the year, and all window vents open all year round, which helps a lot, but... he suffers from midsummer hayfever and often gets red eyes, so an air purifier would be a blessing. One of the HEPA systems would probably suit us best as we work opposite shifts and might find it difficult to find times to run an ozone generator when no-one is home. I appreciate the detail you went into of how each thing works.
      As an aside, I am an IT geek, and early in my career I was asked to do UK COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) assessments for a small company. So for years I have advised people at work not to sit a laserjet printer on their desk as these create ozone too, in a 'little lightning' way, as well as the toner having carcinogenic properties. Nasty, and defintinitely not good for you.

If yes, put them in a room with food and water and a litter box and close the door. At the bottom of the closed door, roll a wet towel to block air from entering under the door. Make sure the vent in the room the animals are in has a vent cover. (Paid link amzn.to/3TxvQTo - they look like this). Run the ozone generator in the rest of the house. Enerzen Ozone Generator = magic for your old car. Far more effective than perfumed cardboard pine trees dangling from your rearview mirror. Clean your car good. Clean all hard surfaces with your fave cleaner. Use carpet cleaner and a shopvac to clean all the upholstery and carpet. Vacuum everything first, including under the seats. Then scrub down all those carpeted and upholstered areas with diluted carpet cleaner and a scrub brush, and use the shopvac as an extractor. Let it all dry thoroughly. Then run the ozone generator in the car. Twice in the passenger cabin; once in the front area for 30 minutes. Let that sit for an hour. Then air out the car for a couple hours. Then 20 minutes in the rear seat area, and again let it sit for an hour then air out the car. If you have a trunk, or in an SUV have an enclosable rear storage area, run it there for another 20 minutes. You’ll be shocked at the difference.
