- Unboxing the OnePlus Pad with an early review of the performance, battery life and features of this first-gen tablet. The OnePlus Pad is a premium device like the iPad Pro and Samsung's Galaxy Tab, with an 11.6-inch Dolby Vision display, quad speaker setup and Dimensity 9000 power. It'll do everything you want and the UK asking price is £449 (499 in Euros).
That Mediatek chipset happily handles side-by-side multi-tasking on the OnePlus Pad. This tablet can run three apps on screen simultaneously, with others working away in the background. You can even do some gaming on the likes of Genshin Impact, with a decent performance even on higher detail settings.
The OnePlus Pad also offers a crisp IPS screen with 144Hz refresh, plus beefy speakers that are ideal for watching video in a noisy household. There's no expandable storage or LTE/5G support however, while accessories like the keyboard cover and Stylo stylus will cost you extra.

This tablet actually sports all the right flags a classic Oneplus device should have. Not on the market for a tablet right now (got one recently), but i would buy this.
This looks like a really good competitor for the Galaxy tab S8 series. I have the S8 but if I had to choose one between this and that I might choose the Oneplus, for its aspect ratio, 144 hertz, and better stylus(just my personal preference)

You never fail to amuse me when it comes to the latest anime wallpapers! I bet half of the comments would be about the new Oshi no ko wallpaper.

@@BruceWayne_87 the OnePlus pad, or the apple ipads. The extra screen width is much much better for note taking compared to the narrow 11in. screen on the Xiaomi mi pad 6 pro, you can rest your whole palm on the screen as a wider screen (not length) prevents any accidental touch screen gestures, it gets really annoying in the long run, exiting your active app or undoing brush strokes by accident, for example.
@@BruceWayne_87 For Note taking all of them are completely fine. Apple has the best pen though, closely followed by Samsung.

It looks pretty similar to the Oppo pad. I got one free when I got the Find X5 Pro, pretty happy with it. Not tried gaming on it, just Netflix and RUclips. Does the job.
Luckyyyy, do you have the regular Oppo pad with snapdragon 870?
Play some emulators on that one to enhance your tablet experience

Thank you for your review, I have been waiting for it. Had it had a headphone jack and more storage I would have probably gone for it. However I think I will wait for the Pixel tablet and see what that has to offer. The storage is a bigger issue than the lack of a headphone jack, I am sure the Pixel tablet will not include the headphone jack but if it has more storage and a decent price then I will go for that. If not I may very well come back to the Oneplus pad.

If you're still looking, I bought the OnePlus Pad. I couldn't go for the Pixel because seriously? A 60hz screen panel in a premium tablet in 2023? Also wanted the bigger screen and the fact that OnePlus is bundling that keyboard case for free with the Tablet on their website. Also the fact that the OnePlus Pad has a larger battery giving it a longer battery life. Only downside is that you're restricted to the 128GB storage. Pixel can get to 256GB but then you're paying $100 USD extra for it.
I want to see this used by artists for their work. If the drawing experience is comparable to that of an iPad, I will get a OnePlus. As much as I detest it, my phone does this and I hope that in the future there won't be any bugs like System storage draining its memory.
I can't wait for you to review the Pixel Fold. The phone will be awesome but you're commentary will be hilarious. Probably that heaviest phone you've ever held.

@@NicVandEmZ don't think Apple Pencil is compatible with anything other than pencil-compatible iPads (yeah that means not all of them). not sure about the OP stylus, but I have the Pad and stylo coming in the post. will try it with my wife's iPad but don't think it will work

Does it support video out? I think for many consumers, that's a big deal with their tablet purchases.
Thanks for the revuew Spurt. I recently sold my OnePlus Open. Loved the phone but was only using it unfolded at bedtime. Figured I may as well have a full on tablet and a more robust candy bar phone instead.
Preordered a OnePlus 12 on launch day and after watching your review I decided to pull the trigger on the OP Pad too instead of a Galaxy Tab. Scored the OnePlus Pad, Magnetic Keyboard, and OnePlus stylus for $462 taxed and shipped. The deal was just too good to pass up. I'd prefer OLED but I can't justify the higher price of the premium Samsung tablets and accessories.
I also learned after an update you can mirror your OnePlus phone on the Pad so that will be a fun feature to try out. It's my first tablet despite having almost 30 phones over the years.
I'm pretty excited man. Looks like a banger.

Had mine for two days. Magnetic keyboard stops working occasionally. I have figured out that if you reboot Pad with keyboard connected, it probably won't work. Also having fits getting it to connect to 5GHz WiFi. I have Google Nest WiFi Pro access points. OP10 Pro doesn't have same issue. I really want to like it, but early adopters will need some patience with bugs and "features".

With the price the Samsung Tab S8 (and S8+) has now come down to, I don't see this as overly competitive, price wise. The Sammy even has expandable storage.
still at least $250 more for base model 8. It's a decent budget option.
@@carlbrenda6518 Not in the UK. I see S8 tabs for £450 all the time, the S8+ can be found for £500 and is a WAY better device.
How does it compare to lenovo p12 pro that come with a SD 870? P.S. I don't remember, but have you done an unboxing or review of the p12 pro or no?

Question... Does this OnePlus pad have USB C-HDMI/USB to video out capabilities (like linking it to a big screen TV or monitor?
I have an aging Nvidia Shield K1 tablet (stuck on Android 7) connected to my main TV and Integrated amplifier and speakers as a form of Android driven home entertainment system and so, am looking for a replacement. I know I could use a Motorola phone that has 'Ready for' capabilities, or go the Samsung DeX route, but Samsungs have that usual UNNECESSARY bloatware stuffed in (hence going for more of a 'Stock' Android experience (like my K1 tablet)).. 🤔🤔😏 😎🇬🇧
No charger in UK either... bummer. In Finland preorder gift is 80watt charger (tablet support only 67watt) or flip case.

its for reading PDF in bus/bed and taking notes with the pen.
the aspect ratio makes it lighter despite allowing in pages from ebooks quite comfortable
(arguably for really large format textbooks you will probably need to zoom in but whatever)

U know here in Asia we do get a 100watt charger in the box so i was surprised when i didn't see the charger
I have pre-ordered but slightly irritated by the fact that it doesn't come with a power brick in the UK (did Oneplus ask you NOT to highlight this in your review?) so have had to purchase one at an additional £34.98 delivered. On the plus side I did get a free Folio and could trade in my old OP6 phone for £60 including £30 bonus and got a 30% off voucher code for the keyboard. Have to wait just over a month to get it though!!

Video camera is actually pretty good for a tablet.
Looking at the thumbnail, I was hoping it had a 4:3 screen but that's not the case. Is there any tablet (or any kind of monitor/screen, really) that is 4:3 aspect ratio at any resolution? I want to watch some old anime and play some retro games without having black borders.

@@_Digitalguy I had seen ipads that didn't have 4:3 screen. After some research it looks like the base models of 2017 and 2021 have 4:3 screen, although with limited storage and no sd card slot. Better than nothing I guess.
@@chromejailer6799 If you are ready to spend more or to buy refurbished/used, the 12.9 iPad pro is also 4:3 and it can have all the storage you need (no iPad has expandable storage). That's what I use

You say 4 years of security updates but there's absolutely no mention of that on OnePlus' website. They instead chose to put out this info through intermediaries without having to stand behind an officially assumed position/promise. This makes the product DOA to me. See how Lenovo or Nokia handles this sensitive topic. They have dedicated pages where you can see the exact date when software update support will end.
Given that OnePlus system updates are totally useless anyway it doesn't matter. Ask any Oneplus 7 owner to tell you about it 🤬
