Hard work and experience will produce bumper sessions but not every time. We have to accept those disappointing trips as part of the learning curve. If it was too predictable it would soon become boring but we can use our knowledge of venues, tides, weather etc to be in with a shout every trip. Putting the pieces together and trusting our own judgement means that another magical session is just around the corner and when it comes and you've put yourself in exactly the right spot at exactly the right time it's an incredible feeling. I'm loving your passion for it but please don't think you're letting us down when it doesn't go right.
