  • This Christmas craft makes a beautiful tree ornament and holiday home decor. This is a tutorial for a DIY Polish Star Ornament. The paper ball is constructed with scrapbook paper, but you can use origami paper, as well. Some string is required, as well, to make the polish star ornament, and to hang it.
This little thing reminds of a porcupine. :-) Makes a perfect gift and/or home decoration & ornament! This is a traditional do-it-yourself project for Christmas time.

I made these my whole life never knowing they were called polish stars. I've even made giant ones out of designer wrapping paper. I'm so glad there is a name for them because I always called them porcupine ball ornaments.

I've found that an easier way to make the points is to roll the ends round a sharpened pencil and glue in place while it's there, it gives you something to press on to make it stick, too. (Not my idea. I saw it on another video making a similar craft).

Thanks for the advice! I actually use pencils sometimes, too. But sometimes it's also fun to free-hand, hehe. :-)

It is not polish but german and invented in Moravian boys school in Germany some time ( a long time) ago, but it is not really important . Your star is great...good work! :D

These are indeed Polish. The Moravian ornaments are, while stars, pretty different. :-)
