Years ago when I lived in the city I had a neighbor taking what he wanted from my garden. The only way I found out about it was that I was mentioning to a different neighbor that I would not be growing a particular variety of tomato again as it was not producing enough to make it worthwhile and that I there seemed to be a lot of birds messing up my garden. She told me she had seen the first neighbor "harvesting" from my garden almost every day and she thought I knew about it. One of the several reason I moved back to a rural area as soon as my opportunity arose 😀

Some great ideas. You could also do many of those things just to increase your gardening area even if you have an established "garden spot." Thanks for the update!
