Excellent, I enjoyed this very much. If I can make one suggestion, you might want to mention in the title that you're playing an 8-string. I think more people would be drawn to the video to hear what the instrument sounds like, in addition to the selection itself.
Yes, i use Savarez basses from stringsbymail.com. Those are probably the best option. It's hard to make all the strings sound good on an 8-string with all that extra tension on the top.
Drew Henderson I think part of the issue could also be the body size is increased and this puts the internal air mass to a different fundamental than the commonly aimed for G - A frequencies? Does it make the trebles sound a little darker on their higher harmonics?
There’s good methods out there for RH playing. You just need an experienced teacher that can teach them and be interested in teaching you with a good structure. You just need to be able to practice frequently and “keep it real” in which levels songs you want to work.

that is quite impressive of a talent you possess....and quite lovely music it is Sunday morning......yesterday morning I sang the Ella Fitzgerald and Louis album in both of their voices.....capturing every intrinsic quality of both of their voices on every note......I do over 200 voices.....I did about half of the album and then just stopped and stood leaning against the wall listening to the rest of the album.....just enjoying the music the way I used to listen to the album back in the 90's quietly.......a couple days before I did The Sentinel by Judas Priest.....and about a half a dozen other voices.....new songs for some that I have never done.....one by Sinatra.....I think it was the way you look tonight......because last night was the blue moon......and yes I do that in Billi Holiday's voice perfectly as well.......I have never recorded any of my voices.....but by last night I was like....maybe I should have just hit record for the computer microphone to have captured such.....in over 4 years in this house.....I have done that entire album about 4 times......no practicing it or anything.....nor did I have time to listen to it 1 time first on all of those occasions......reminds me of barefoot waterskiing all of those years.....
