I relate to it. Last time a group of volunteers came to my church from Australia. Mostly whites. And I overheard them saying that we are poor n the it was boring. Yet they still got free food, the locals let them stay in their house for free. They didn't even make an effort to socialize. Only the blacks, Asians talked to us.
As a white person from Australia I totally agree with you. Driving through a Thai rural village on a motorbike I felt like I was a film star, with young kids running after me. When I stopped at a shop a woman even gave me her daughter's phone number - it was terribly embarrassing. I don't understand it.

i think one main issue you had overlooked. this whole thing about white is about "Perception". it didnt happen overnight . there is a reason why things are the way it is. question is , what can we do to match their standards? we have to raise of standards, not just complain why are their standards upheld at a higher level than ours. we are most definately as good as them, but preception of the masses is not up to our expectation. so how do we convince them we are as good? we have to show good or better examples of ourselves. This video got me woke, though. My wig is snatched and my life is shooketh. I do questioning bout this issues all the time. The earliest memory I had where I can remember about this "white people worshipping" issue is when my school got an oppurtunity to do this exchange student program. The student is a german guy. I remember that one day, when he is introduced to the whole student at perhimpunan pagi on every monday tu, he is assigned by the teacher to introduces himself in bahasa. And just like that "shawn mendes speaks in BM" part, everyone whe apeshit about it (including me bcoz I'm soo naive at that time)... but I dont know why, after a few thoughts about it, i always wonder, like "dia ckp in BM je pun, x yah nak teruja teruk sngt lah". i think one main issue you had overlooked. this whole thing about white is about "Perception". it didnt happen overnight . there is a reason why things are the way it is. question is , what can we do to match their standards? we have to raise of standards, not just complain why are their standards upheld at a higher level than ours. we are most definately as good as them, but preception of the masses is not up to our expectation. so how do we convince them we are as good? we have to show good or better examples of ourselves. "if we dont value our selves as malaysians"???? do you even hear yourself? what are you talking about when its about race politics? how can we be good examples to the world?
This video got me woke, though. My wig is snatched and my life is shooketh. I do questioning bout this issues all the time. The earliest memory I had where I can remember about this "white people worshipping" issue is when my school got an oppurtunity to do this exchange student program. The student is a german guy. I remember that one day, when he is introduced to the whole student at perhimpunan pagi on every monday tu, he is assigned by the teacher to introduces himself in bahasa. And just like that "shawn mendes speaks in BM" part, everyone whe apeshit about it (including me bcoz I'm soo naive at that time)... but I dont know why, after a few thoughts about it, i always wonder, like "dia ckp in BM je pun, x yah nak teruja teruk sngt lah". Like wise, I do proud bcoz he try to speak in BM but in depth, does he even know what is he saying?
