    One of my fav anecdotes from my sad, not-famous life is the time I tried to chat up my seatmate on a flight to sweden. The guy literally acted as if I had not spoken. Ran into him at a bar a wk later, where he apologized, explained that for swedes, chatting up a stranger is crazy person stuff, and then proceeded to hit on me aggressively the rest of the evening.

    • @rymdalkis
      @rymdalkis 5 лет назад +42

      Smelting is an english word, but it means something different from melting. Smelting is heating up an object above its melting point in order to liquify it (like you're smelting iron in a furnace), whereas melting means the process during which an object turns from solid to liquid due to reaching its melting point (like snow melting in the sun). It's easy to mix up since Swedish uses the same word for both things

      Try being Nordic in a North-American setting. It's painful. Everybody wants to chit-chat for no reason at all, at bus stops and in line at the fucking supermarket or while buying a cup of coffee, and the conversations are always pathetically superficial. I will never understand it.

      Im Canadian, we also are a chatty bunch with strangers, I have never been comfortable with this part of my society, perhaps I have nordic roots some where along the lines

    And if Netflix weren't asleep, they might have seriously considered Joel for the Witcher series, he ticks all the check boxes for the character and even appeared recently in another Netflix project, Altered Carbon. I love Henry Cavill but Joel Kinnaman would have been another great choice. I'm not going to go on about his qualifications, check out the series.

    I used to try to chat with people at the bus stop in Norway, why not? If they were uncomfortable, that was their signal to loosen up.

    I didn't know Joel Kinnaman was born in Sweden. The first time I saw him was in The Killing, where he speaks with AAVE. I thought it was pretty convincing.

    Funny how each country has their cultural differences, in Brazil it’s rude to not look at someone in the eye when talking to them.
    About the bus thing, everyone in any country would seat alone in an almost empty bus, it’s a logical human thing to do.

    • @Dystisis

      It's still a bit rude to never look people in the eye if you're talking to them, here in Nordic countries. You just don't wanna stare 100% of the time and never break eye contact.

      @@serbanindigo689 I'm not dissing him. I just think he's not a very good actor - there is no hate in that, it's just my opinion.

    • @nmoomoo

      Schizm1 clearly you can’t recognise talent, also you can’t base his abilities just on the marvel movies

    • @nmoomoo
      @nmoomoo 4 года назад +2

      Caspar I think that the issue is that we’re also comparing two different Takeshis. S2 Takeshi is mean like I don’t like his personality compared to S1 so I definitely think that has an influence on how we perceive the actor’s ability. I genuinely believe that Anthony is a good actor and good choice (as is shown in those emotional scenes such as the execution scene) but I don’t like this Takeshi yet (only on episode 5) because of how he’s been treating Poe for example.
